  1. I agree, the rotors are already huge. You can't run anything smaller than a 17" rim on the car because of it. My biggest complaint is the initial bite and pedal pressure. They just plain old don't bite, and it seems to take a lot of pressure. I'm going to try different pads on mine sometime in the future. Considering that after about 6000 miles and only two trips to the car wash, my wheels look way to clean. I think the culprit is the pads. Keith
  2. Disc or Drum in the Rear???? Sounds like it's probably Drum and he left them adjusted too loose.
  3. Depending on the year they list the cruise kits on subaruparts.com I installed one in my 95 Legacy in 1 hour, and we did one in my dad's 96 impreza in about the same. I think it was about $60. There is a good bit that goes into it for the impreza: Switch for the dash Lever for on the steering wheel Replacement Brake pedal switch replacement clutch pedal switch (if manual) Control module (mounted under the steering column) Vaccum line that attaches to the intake manifold and goes to: Vaccum switch that i believe mounts by the AC Dryer and then goes to: Vaccum cable thing that attaches to the fire wall and then the cable goes to the throttle Keith
  4. Stock STi wheels and tires rubbed on the inside of the rears on my 95 Legacy. The STi stock is 225/45R17. I was able to use a very thin spacer, something like 5mm ( I honestly don't remember) and get away with it. Of course then it rubbed the fender lip during heavy cornering. I was running crappy tires until they were bald so I didn't care about the rubbing. Keith
  5. Not 100% on if I'll be there thanks to work, but our car and "team" will be. http://www.rockyroadracing.com Keith
  6. So then where you gonna park it? I paid. I don't want it parked outside of the campgrounds where some idiot could decide to try and steal or vandalize my entire rig so I payed the lousy $15.
  7. Heres a good one for the gang. I noticed yesterday that after my 95 legacy sat in a heavy downpoor of rain, the section of seat belt that sits behind the trim panel, but is not rolled up, was moist. When you touched it it felt damp. It wasn't soaking wet, but it wasn't right. Where might the dampness be coming from? The giant seal between the front and rear window? Keith
  8. I registred two cars over the weekend. I'm gonna trailer our rally car down and my fiance will drive the furnace, I mean the 96GT. I also registered for a camping space which sounds like it might not have needed, but for a few bucks I figured I would rather be safe than sorry. Keith
  9. Now I just have to convince Moosen to do me a favor and pick up the short block (located 45minutes east of him) and bring it with. Then I might actually be able to get this thing fixed mecahnically so that I can fix the body stuff and sell it!
  10. No. I'm bringing the Rally car down on a trailer, and I'm going to have my fiance bring the furnace. I figure that worse case I have to trailer the furnace home saturday night and come back sunday morning. Keith
  11. I've got two EZ-Up Tents. That should be enough. I've secure the use of a rolling engine hoist if we do it. My only concern would be the mess with coolant, but I can setup a giant tarp and bring a big bag of oil dry. When you think about it, an engine swap is fairly easy. I did it almost completely myself in 10 hours. With a few people doing odds and ends I would imagine it could be done in under 6.
  12. Ah, but this may draw a crowd!!! Get people to see just how easy a subaru is to work on. Not like a Fiero!
  13. Sorry, I thought I put that in the title. EJ25 What do you mean that replacement of the early one is with the later?
  14. So, I might be able to get a cheap short block from a 99RS, but I think that means it's a SOHC. Can I put my DOHC heads on it with out any problems, and will it bolt in place of a 96-98 IE Plumbing for PCV? Keith
  15. OK, I've got a really freaking Crazy Idea for Carlisle. I've got a 96 Legacy GT that I've dubbed the Furnace. It goes through about a quart of oil every 150 miles. I've got a set of heads from the original motor that were decked and cleaned, and I'm working on getting what should be a good used short block from a 99RS. Who would be up for putting on a little show for the crowd? The show would be pulling the existing motor out, assembling the "new" motor, and installing it? Right now it's just a crazy thought, but who would be in? Keith

  17. Ok. I can point you to a place for where to buy an LED replacement, but I wouldn't be doing you a favor. I bought LED replacements for my STi two weeks after I got it. My main reasoning was because I wanted them to be red. (easier on the eyes at night) Anyhow I installed them for one night, and then took them out. Here's the thing, the incandescant bulb that comes standard has a thin round wire for the filament. When it lights, it emmits light everywhere, in every direction around the axis of the bulb. LEDs on the otherhand are very directional. The LED bulb has a PCB in it with LEDS on both sides. You actually lose a lot of usable light by switching to LEDs for the interior lights since the light is only coming out in two directions. Basically you have to be careful to position the bulb so the LEDs point somewhere useful, and then it really cuts down on the light in the rest of the car. The prices on them aren't that bad, so if you try it and don't like it, you should only be out a few dollars, but I personally thought they didn't work well for interior lighting. http://superbrightleds.com/1157.htm Good Luck, Keith
  18. Hey, you were nice enough to answer everyone else' questions, how about mine? Seriuosly though, you could have a pump seal/pressure loss issue that clears itself up when it gets warm. I wouldn't expect it on something that new, but it's a thought.
  19. Hey, My 96 2.5 4EAT does the same thing... I think. I've never floored it in gear, but when I did a motor swap I noticed the same thing when revving the car in park. Floor it, and it just kind of dies for a second, then I get a nice loud knock from the bottom end, and away it revs. If I just go nicely there is no problem. I'm not driving that right now because of the oil burning, but maybe I can look at these same things listed. Keith
  20. I wouldn't jump to have the fluid changed if it's got high mileage and never been changed. Anyhow, Is this something that is only happening when the trans is still cold? In otherwords, if you drove it very mildly until fully up to temp, would it even do it once? You may just be low on fluid. Keith
  21. Well, I just have to check one last thing tonight and then I should be able to register. It looks like it will be atleast the Rally car. I'm going to see if I can convince the Fiance to drive out my new GT. Keith
  22. I just switched my 95 with 191,000 miles over to Castrol Sythetic Bland this weekend. Since it wasn't leaking or burning anything I felt it was time to step up the protection. So far no issues. (I drive 90 miles a day) Keith
  23. Sorry, but I must disagree, and being soob has nothing to do with it. Condensor is first in the line of fire for road debrise. Tons of people in PA that travel the turnpike in the winter wind up with bad condensors from salt and cinders that are put down on the road. Being that they are from Missouri I'm not sure if that would be the real cause, but if the condensor is leaking, odds are good it's from being hit by road crap somewhere in the 7 years it's been on the road. Keith
  24. Alright... So since Black River Stages has been postponed it sure looks like we will have a freshly painted (and clean) Rally car. I'm going to run things past people and see what they think. I also want to make sure that there are shower facilities and we are allowed to camp out. And since I'd have to trailer the Rally car (and I'm sure others trailer their cars there) they must have a place to park towing rigs. Keith
  25. %100 you shift it. Otherwise you will try to power out of a corner and have to wait for the trans to shift back down. Subaru's a pretty good about holding gears when it thinks you want a sporty drive, but it still wants to up shift when it can. Keith
