  1. The subaru sti 4-pots & 2-pots are what come on the 06. The front 4-pots will bolt onto the 02's without any issues. You will need a 17" wheel to clear the calipers though. The stock 02 wheels will rub the calipers. In the rear, it's not so simple. The mounting position for the 2-pots is different. The easiest thing to do is find a used spindle from an 06 and swap it onto the 02. Otherwise, you have to press the bearing out of the hub, and swap backing plates. In doing so, you'll need to replace the wheel bearing, because they typically come apart when they're pressed out. There has been talk about making a bracket for the rears, so the 2-pots just bolt on. Whether that's available, I'm not sure. You may want to search the brakes & susp. forum on nasioc http://forums.nasioc.com/forums
  2. Take it to a reputable shop or a/c shop. The amount of money some shops charge for a/c work is absolutely ridiculous. I bought the gauges and vacuum pump to do all my own work. It really isn't that much work for the shop to do. My only caution about used condensors is that you need to make sure they don't contain any contaminents like metal flakes from a compressor dieing, etc.
  3. So.... You're saying the ignition relay has issues. Is this correct? Did you perform a test yourself to determine this, or did someone recommend that might be the cause? How did you determine the power going to the ECU needs "filtering"? What test did you perform to see the noise? If you don't mind sharing, I'd also like to know the details as to what exactly you did to modify the ECU to not be as susceptible to "electrical noise". And again, what wiring error, or difference did you find?
  4. What's your budget? You're probably not going to find anything specifically for the outback, however there are probably quite a bit of stuff from the normal legacy and impreza of similar years that would work. You could put Legacy GT springs & struts on your outback, which will probably lower the ride height from what it current is, and give you better handling....without "slamming" it. I'd suggest searching on Nasioc http://forums.nasioc.com/forums in the legacy forum for more information on what's swappable.
  5. I believe there are a few threads that show pics and have instructions. You may want to search. It's pretty straight forward. To be honest, I'd highly recommend you replace all four struts at once. I've been down the road you're going, and you end up with issues in having mixed-matched struts with different damping rates.
  6. So what was the fix....? Also, what wiring is different between the wiring diagram and what the car actually is wired?
  7. What are you wanting to swap? Everything, or just calipers? How are the 03's brakes better? Does it stop shorter, or does it just feel better. Once you get into the "feel" portion of braking, you get into the non-calculatable part that can be different for different people. Things like brake fluid, brake pads, vacuum assist, tires, etc can affect how the brakes feel. So what I would suggest you do, make a list of what's different between your 00 & 03. Try to remove some of those things from the list....but do this after you've answered the question, what's better about the 03.
  8. The earlier imprezas should have roughly the same suspension setup as the early legacies. So I don't see any issue with using either the forester or outback suspension.
  9. So your problem is pretty much a transient issue at startup in cold conditions. Unfortunately, there's probably nothing you can do since the issue is with the sensors measuring dash temp....and waiting for things to warm up.
  10. I'd suggest they check the IAC valve first.....it may be gunked up and sticking. How does the car run otherwise?
  11. Check out my write-up. All the info is there, as well as costs. It's not a project I'd recommend for someone without some good automotive knowledge.
  12. At 66, does the air still feel warm? One would think the flapper door on the heater core would shut all the way so you can only have outside air....but maybe not.
  13. This may or may not help http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/AWD_transfer_system3.jpg I had thought there were some pictures or someone that did this work....
  14. You should be able to get at the bulbs from under the car. You may need to remove some of the plastic under body tray to get at them.
  15. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if the code hasn't shown up again. If you continue to get the code, then you could have an issue with the TCU or wiring.
  16. It may be steel blue mica.... If you find a pic of a car, you'll probably find someone that can identify it. You'll probably have better luck finding a pic and someone to identify the paint on NASIOC http://forums.nasioc.com/forums
  17. If you didn't do it, disconnect all the electrical sensor connectors, blow them out with compressed air, and put dielectric grease in them.
