  1. Well, If it is the FWD 5 speed, I believe that the 1.6 is the only one that will bolt up. Welcome to the board lots and lots of help on here.
  2. That is the same price I was qouted for my svx (with life time warrenty) surely you can find a better deal. BTW, i'nm not a bra fan, but it does look very good on your wagon.
  3. I own Both a Gen 1 Brat and an 92 SVX (5sp) and I still really like the brat, but all the creature comforts of the SVX make it really nice. PS: with the windows down you still hear the wind, and get wet if it is raining, I have yet to decide if I like the windows or not.
  4. Thats what I figured, and thinks, we figured it out, and now the beast will stop.
  5. With the car off pump the pedal ten times. Then put your foot on the brake and start the car. The pedal should move to the floor. If it does then its the master cylinder. We will try this, and what is a check valve?
  6. OK, I just bought a '92 SVX, and it just had the five speed put in and every thing works great, except the brakes. The've been blead and blead again and again, but still not working well. The only thing I can think of is the booster. The booster for the SVX would have needed cut and mechined, so we decided to put the booster out of the '94 tranny donor Legacy. the booster is just alittle bit smaller, but should work. Right? And one last question, is there a difference between an ABS and a NON-ABS booster? Thanks to all for any help.
  7. Sure, I'll giv you a third on that. But take the pic at the dealer and see what they think.
  8. I had planed on doing it when I get the brat done, but it'll be a year or two. I've put about $2,700 in to it and still shoveling $ at it.
  9. Ya, that's bad, but at least the dash is still in GREAT shape.
  10. Do you even need a pilot bearing, I've left them out a few times, and have had no troubbles.
  11. I believe they eventualy fall out, because the heads are aluminum and the studs are steel, and they expand at different temps. over time they fall out. I took mine to an exhaust shop and payed to have new studs locktighted in. Wasn't much, would prolly go that way.
  12. I have the same thing, I have found that it is a little diaphram thingy no the back of the carb. I cant remember what I did, but thats prolly what your hearing.
  13. I believe that your Alt. should put out about 13-15 volts, and that number is regulated by your voltage regulator, I'd check your regulator, mine went out and I fried my lights and battery.
  14. Well, I did try it. I put about 1/2 a quart in and ran it at about 45-55 MPH for ~8 miles. It did seam to be smoother, and quieter, but that might just be me. I drained and filled, and so far so good. I think it feels better, but it always does after an oil change. Again thanks to all, and I think I have atleast learned a little about ATF. ~James~
  15. I guess I'll give it a try, Thanx to all
  16. Just went to the repair shop, and asked about there being water mixed with oil in the filler neck, and the tubes comming off the valve covers. The weird thing is that there is no water on the dip-stick. The guy said that it was condensation, and that I should add about 1/2 quart of automatic tranny fluid in it for about 10-15 miles, then change the oil. He stated that it would flush out the water. The question I have is will this work, and wouldn't it harm my engine? Should I take his advice, or just drain and fill with new oil? ~Thanks, James~
  17. Sorry, no pics, but a friend and I did this to his 81 wagon. had to modify the t-stat housing, but it worked great ecpecally with the wire tied secondarys on the ea82 carb.
  18. It might just be me, but I like the added personallity given to the SVX because the windows are the way they are. But I think it would bug me if I ever drove it.
  19. Is this a photoshop, concept, or the real thing? I stumbled across this and was wondering. Anyhoo, I want one. How about you?
  20. I have the same problem, when I run the heater. I've kept an eye on all the fluids, and all are good and stay at the same level. The only thing I could guess, is bad CV boots that throw grease everywere. I don't know if that would be a diff. smell or not, or what it has to do with the heater being on.
  21. Q: Is the male end of the seatbelt mounted to the side of the bed? A: Neither, mount them between the seat on the bottom of the bed Q: Is the female end with the actual belt mounted to the metal frame, or to the back wall of the bed? A: Again, they mount to the bottom of the bed, but on the out side of the seats Q: How much room is there between the seats? A: Not sure, but about five inches.
  22. '80 BRAT had factory air conditioning, and would like for it to have AC again. needs everything, Compressor, condencer, evaporator, and ducts. ~thax James~
  23. Rwd is much funner, than fwd, but I'm thinking that the 5 speed is a better choice for mpg, and swich the tranny back in winter for 4wd snow fun. ~James~
