  1. nice word:"Scavenging is the process of pushing exhausted gas-charge out of the cylinder and drawing in a fresh draught of air ready for the next cycle in automotive usage. This process is essential in having a smooth-running internal combustion engine. Modifying the exhaust system, (i.e. modifying the exhaust gas velocity by changing exhaust tube diameters) can detract from the "ideal" scavenging effects, and reduce fuel efficiency and power."
  2. Those dudes are so full of crap. (I hope that was the point of the video)
  3. Contact this guy when you get your wirring harness (trust me life will be easier): http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53363 Contact this guy for your adaptor plate and flywheel: http://www.sjrlift.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=22 Also refer to the EJ Swap Write-up: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=69741 This is all good information to get before starting this project. I've done the swap myself and these were the sources that helped me the most. Also make sure your using an OBD1 Motor (90-94 I believe).
  4. If you're looking to swap the motor in to an EA body then yes.
  5. This was the only EA81 Body style I could think of with a WRX motor swap. This is a really sweet BRAT, and it did look like it took alot of work.
  6. http://video.cardomain.com/Clip.aspx?key=388E3934A02D6A08
  7. I know this guy swapped in a WRX motor into his older GL style body. I'm not sure if it was an STI or not but way cool. He also did brakes and suspension too.
  8. I think he said something like $5000.
  9. I've also heard of guys putting ej22 heads on ej25 blocks to get higher compression.
  10. My partner and I just installed some of our BRAT stripes on one of the nicest BRATs I've ever seen. I think the guy paid a grip for it, but man it was worth it.
  11. The other difference also being that phase I in DOHC and phase II is a SOHC, right? (the head gasket problem was fixed on the phase II)
  12. How easy would it be to swap in a Phase 2 EJ25 into my 1998 Outback? Would I need to re-wire the whole thing or could I just use my intake manifold from my phase 1 on the phase 2 block and heads? Just something I was thinking about when my head gaskets go.
  13. I would think that the shift linkage would be somewhat of a challenge. You'd have to set something up like a Porsche 944 (Long rods and hangers). I’m not really sure how you’re going to get around the motor to attach everything to the transmission. It should be interesting. Let us know how it goes and good luck to ya.
  14. Ya, I think if you go that size we would just cut it all out of vinyl. We were thinking something like 6"-8" tall. We would like to do a run of 500-1000 but we're not sure if we can sell them all. The larger the run the less expensive they will be, but if we only sell like 10 then we're out a lot of money. So we're on the fence about the whole thing. But we could do a hood size one for like $50.00 + shipping. Let me know if you're interested.
  15. I'd be interested it an ea71 brat lift. (Cost?) Also would I need to get all the EA81 Running gear or is that something you could do as well? thanks, earl
  16. Go to Les Schwab. They have great replacement lug nuts that'll work. That's what I did. ($20.00 for a set)
  17. Let me know size and how many and I'll shoot you a cost.
  18. I wanted to see what kind of response I get from these decals before I get a bunch printed up. I have traced out a very clean vector version to have screen printed and contour cut out of a very nice decal stock. I think they will look even better than the originals. What size would be good? How many people do you think will buy them?
  19. If you want you can stop by and take a look at my swap. It might help you out.
  20. I'm doing the same swap in my 1982 hatch. I went with an EJ22 motor and the 5 speed D/R 4WD Transmission. I got jerry's kit and it works great. All of the cables and hill holder stuff went back into place on the 5 speed just the same as the 4 speed. I had a nice one piece drive line made at a shop here in Portland for like $100 bucks. The drive line actually needs to be lengthened by I think it was 4" - 5". I also used M. Rose adaptor plate for the motor. I'm still waiting on the wiring harness to be shipped back to me then I'm good to go. Good luck!
  21. Man I know how you feel. I had someone else on the message board here do the same kind of crap. It's one lie after another, you think the guy is stand up and he turns out to just be a liar. I'm still waiting for my money and it's been nine months. There’s still a little part of me that wants to think that he'll give me my money back but I'm not holding my breath. The think that flares me up is that he said he'd send it when he's got it, but then I see him on here buying stuff. What's up with that? Anyway I wish I could help you too but Medford is too far from Portland. Good luck.
