WOW. One word. Dont. Go to a junkyard. get a transmission for 100 bucks or so. Bring it to a transmission shop and have them go through it. Then install it yourself. Its not that hard...and you save 4700 bucks probably.

When doing it make sure to coat that thread cleaner with grease so that any metal shaving stick to it instead of getting dropped into the cylinder.

Is that Idling at 2 grand? Thats way too high. Might want to look into that. Should probably be around 1 grand or a bit less. Not sure what they should be for a xt6.

i actually have a line on a 4wd EA81 sedan that is really badly rotted but has low miles. Im going to see if i can score it cheap. Last time i called the place wouldnt sell it to me cause they didnt think it was safe. Im going to bug them again to look at it to see if thats true or not. All i saw was rotted rockers. I didnt actually crawl underneith That brat is only up to 255 lol. Thats a bit backwards though. I dont think having a brat as a winter beater would be a good idea.

yes it will. Coolant hookup is on the back rather than on the front but other than that they line up the same.

The plug wires are fine but i would stay away from aftermarket coils. From my experience and others they do more harm than good. They will fry the stock ingition module (is that it?) thats in the distributor. At least thats what happened to mine.

The stock sound system leaves alot to be desired. To install a CD player into your Brat doesnt take too much work if you plan ahead a bit. Just know that you wont be able to use any of the factory speaker wires as they were hooked to a common ground. You need to run all new speaker wires to each speaker. Not sure what size speakers you have but someone else will chim in with that. As for the stereo headunit itself, contrary to popular belief, you can fit a modern headunit in the center console. It requires moving the radio down to where the package tray is and moving the package tray up to where the stock radio was. There is also the solution of using a slanted center console. Hey welcome aboard . Just for future reference any postings about this car should be in the newer generation forum since its a legacy. Your engine is the Ej22T, a bullet proof engine as many on here will attest to.

Only question i would have is why go from 4wd to 2wd? If you want one extra gear i believe its possible to convert to a Dual range 5 speed (not sure on this though since yours is a gen 1).
