CD's with around 300 WCSS 6 Pics
I checked all the ads this morning for that camera, they have been selling it for $999.00 for the body only for over a year now, I'm hoping that it is about time from a price drop. I'm ready to pouch if it does.

Nope, finally getting around to putting in the power door locks and power windows, hooked up the driving lights today. I do wish you luck though, and have fun, even if you don't win.

WRX engine in a Porsche 911
Dr. RX replied to appbiz's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWHAT???? They are in the engine compartment, the trunk on a Porsche 911 is in front. BTW, I think you knew that, but like most people, they think of the rear of a car as the trunk.

Sti engine in 2.5 rs
Dr. RX replied to Skanky's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell, unless you get a new turbo crossmember, you will have to modify the existing crossmember to make room for the uppipe. The wiring may not be as bad as people say, but then I've done something similar (a 96 WRX engine into a 96 US Impreza). Make sure that you get that complete front wiring haness with the engine, you will throw most of it away, but you will get everything you need, an engine wiring harness is not enough. Depending on how you drive, the auto my take the extra horsepower and torque. Personally I would change to a 5 or 6 speed.

de lima XT6 conversion
The front brakes are bigger, the rears only slightly. The best part about the conversion is that then you would have a much wider choice of wheels then the limited choice you have now. The conversion is very simple, the only snag is that the tranny must have 25 spline stubs at the tranny (ie a turbo tranny). If you don't want them, please pull them, someone ehere will probably be willing to buy them, if not now, someone will eventually be looking for them.

WRX engine in a Porsche 911
Dr. RX replied to appbiz's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf they can put an EG33 into a Porsche, they can put an EJ20G, EJ205, EJ207 or any of the other WRX engines into a Porsche, but why replace an air cooled engine (with the exception of the newer ones) with a water cooled engine. I know that the might cost less, but then you'll have the added costs of adding the cooling system. I have toyed with the idea of putting a twin turbo or a WRX engine into a 914 though.

Coming over to the "Dark Side"
Dr. RX replied to Skip's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPretty wagon, I'll see if I can answer some of teh questions. 1) They are available, the problem is that in 93 Subaru started using big binders and annual updates, so you would have to get the 93 binder(s) and teh 94 binder(s) to have a complete set. 2) Not sure here, but sounds good. 3) Yep, they will fit. 4) Haven't played with ABS so I don't have a clue here. 5) There are kits out there to put low pressure turbos on these engines, I wouldn't put the EA82 turbo on there since it is a high pressure turbo. I know people will argue with me about this, but I just rely on my almost 40 years of turbo experience and just grin.

Orange Dexcool Baaad!!!
Thanks for tha article Shawn, very informative. I did notice a pattern here with people who had trouble with the orange stuff. It seems like they all added it to systems that were old without replacing anything. Then when something failed, as it probably would have anyway, they blamed the orange stuff, then replaced all the gaskets and seals and put in green stuff. If they had put orange stuff back in, they probably wouldn't have had problems either.

Alright. WHich one of you pissed off Qman?
Well, I talked with him last night before he went to work. He is pissed at someone here on the board, but he only pissed at him. I'm sure he will still be posting, but he has alot of other things going on right now. Maybe Eric can shed some light later since he started this post. No Eric is not the one, but Eric is having breakfast with Ken this morning.

WOAH, whats this?!?!?! 6?!?!
Where's the deal, that breaks down to $32,000 a car, can you see why no one has bid on them yet?

Alright. WHich one of you pissed off Qman?
Well, he might not be posting right now because he is sleeping before he goes to work. How do I know that, I just called.

Alright. WHich one of you pissed off Qman?
OK, if it was you. what the heck did you say that would tick him off so bad that he wouldn't post here again?

Orange Dexcool Baaad!!!
If it blew soon after you changed over, it wasn't the antifreeze, the head gasket was on the way out. I have used the orange stuff from Permatex for over two years without a single problem. If you keep the green in there, you might as well buy stock in a radiator company.

Alright. WHich one of you pissed off Qman?
Gee, or maybe he went to work.
-
Orange Dexcool Baaad!!!
Well I use the Permatex orange stuff, it works great. It seems to be a little thinner then the green stuff, so if you get a leak, you will notice it sooner with the orange then the green. Also the green stuff reacts with the aluminum in the Subaru engine and will eventually clog your radiator. Every clogged radiator in a Subaru that I have run across has had the green stuff in it, I have never seen a clogged radiator in a Subaru using the orange stuff.

Do I need "help"?
Boy, I'm just the opposite, I doubt that I'll ever get another EA82 series car, turbo'd or not. We still have a turbo wagon, but we are thinking of replacing it with an EJ series wagon. I will admit, my GC8 conversion is not a normal Impreza, but it is as different as night and day when compared to my old 86 GL-10 Turbo Sedan.

JDM turbo conversion
Nope, the Legacy is a little wider, you'll need an EA82T crossmember. You won't need to change any intake stuff, I found that most of the JDM stuff has the same part numbers and the USA Legacy Turbo stuff, the body harness may even plug into the engine harness if they didn't cut it all to heck like they usually do.

Noah, give my CD to Tex, I'll pick it up from him tomorrow.

JDM turbo conversion
There are several things to consider here. Are you planning to use the EA82 tranny? If so, you will need an adapter for the EJ series engine. One of the board members, Mudrat, has created such an adapter and will soon be making them available for sale. If you plan to use the EJ series tranny, which one will you use? There are two basic types, a cable pull clutch and a hydraulic clutch. The EJ20G (turbo version) usually comes with a hydraulic type, in an EA series car, this requires adapting a different clutch pedal assembly. If you get one out of a N/A EJ series car, it will probably be a cable pull type, with this you can use an EA82 type clutch pedal assembly. For either EJ series tranny you will need to modify the rear section of the tranny mount to get it to fit properly and you'll have to have the drive line shortened 55mm. Now to answer your wiring question, yes you should be able to get the engine to run with an EJ22G (turbo version) wiring harness. I have installed a JDM EJ20G into an EA82 (a RX) before, you will need the EA82T crossmember so that the uppipe will clear the crossmember. Since you are close by, I'd be glad to provide any support if you plan to go ahead with the JDM conversion.
