  1. depends on the route i guess. that stretch of I-5 between ashland and redding is out. unless its a cloudy cool day i woundn't go near the mojave desert. and just in case you didn't know; I-17 between flagstaff and phoenix is not advised...ive seen flatbeds wreck trying that one. i cant think of possible way it could be done without putting major pains onto your subie. if you do decide to go for it post "before" and "after" pics...that would be priceless.
  2. well this is way off track but...im not too sure that this is the right swap for you to do. i would look into swaping in struts from an gen 1 outback along with the various other goodies that make it a basic plug and play change like...frame spacers and control arms and...well the rest i kinda forget:drunk: the end result will be your lego sitting about 2" taller and riding much smoother. i really liked it back when i still had a lego. good luck neal
  3. i've got more or less anyone that has anything to do with subarus in this town looking for the right part numbers. the car is laid up right now with a broken cv axle:banghead: hopefully someone will see this and have an idea on how to get these dang struts or their part codes. neal
  4. my 85 GL does the same thing. it all started the day my weber went on. i've just learned to live with it and dont give it any gas right before i shut her down. it will diesel like 99% of the time. i guess a colder plug set up would solve it....thanks! neal
  5. how does it sound?!?!?! <---the engine not the pipes. and my weber doesnt really give a 'boost' in power at all. it has lost a great majority of low end power since it has been on but once i got a header and a pipe my midrange got real peppy too. a well tuned hitachi should get you better all around performance...with exception to fifth gear...but the weber will get you better hwy mileage. btw where did you get that nifty filter...i wouldn't mind one. neal
  6. whoa...if your going 80 mph or over many states automatically cite you for wreckless driving. it shocks me the cop didnt cite you for criminal speeding, arrest your rump roast and give you a HUGE fine with a court date. consider yourself a lucky sob. neal
  7. i currently have springs and struts on the rear. from what ive read out of earlier posts it seems that the rears are adjustable from the top of the strut towers with the aid of a torsion bar. neal
  8. im going to give them a call tomorrow, thanks! but im still stumped on the part codes for the adjustable front and rears. neal
  9. I found one on this board for 250, full set up w/ adapter plate....its possible.
  10. Air ride fronts RF - 21081GA003 LF - 21081GA013 Standard Rears RR - 21022GA841 LR - 21022GA841 I've also got: 21009 GA101 any clue on it? Neal
  11. I need help finding part codes or numbers for the MANUALY adjustable struts that were available on 85-86 4wd GL's. Mine is a wagon. the lamb subaru nissan dealer in prescott doesn't have a clue what to look for on his computer, i spent a half hour talking to the guy with my neck curled around the desk to try and point it out. No diagram's...not even a PHOTO of the thing....nothing. He couldn't run my VIN to get my car on the screen. Manufactured 12/84 EA82 1985 GL Wagon 4WD 5speed manual w/ dual range tranny. Allison auto...the parts store had the book but couldn't find the manually adjustable ones...only air ride....i assumed he ment electric pneumatic like those on some rare legos. Any beta on part codes would be delightful for them dang struts. front and back. neal
  12. yeah, i need part numbers/codes though please help neal
  13. hmmmmmm im not too sure if i'd want an ea82 body or a gen one lego. ej22t w/ some freaking BOOST:burnout: a beefy 5speed DR 4" lift with some 15 " alloys or other bling rims plates running from the 3" headers all the way back to the rear rockers no cats touring wagon roof - leaning towards a gen one lego GT - rack with basket and lights light bar with more lights solid i beam front and rear bumpers fart can exaust LSD what i really want is a hatch window that will receed into the hatch cruise control and other fun stuff like 5 pt restraint seats a roll cage a short throw

  15. John im think im going to be up in your neck of the woods come thanksgiving time and ive been thinking ej22 adapter plate for my ea82. If you see this post send me a PM. Oh and I spoke with Nels recently and yes i did get that weber on and tuned. I hope the rain isn't too bad up in OR. best, neal
  16. whoa man! i used to romp the FS roads from Washington to Cali in my outback lifted lego not too long ago. My 94 GT came with the body effects and all the bells and whistles, did that stop me from getting hung up in the middle of the desert with a pinched header or ripping the exaust right off the flanges having to be ghetto rigged up by a nylon belt screeching against the driveshaft.....no. My OB lifted LEGO was done entirely on junkyard parts and finished in a weekend. It provided endless hours of fun...and those few moments of sheer teror that go along with it. But i bought the car for $3k and got $5k when it was wrecked, so i really didnt have much to loose except a sweet as 2.2l. Now im rompin round in a car that is only two years youger then i am with blown suspesion and a freaking carb...you only live once, subie parts are cheep!
  17. i spent an entire day driving from strip mall to strip mall trying to find a stereo store that would give me some beta about double din head units fitting into my 85 GL and every one of them told me that it wouldnt fit. So I went ahead and pulled the radio anyways to see if it would...it didn't. Now the stock analog radio is just as big of a joke on FM as it is on AM. I don't even know what to do with this awesome JVC double din i used to have in my LEGO before it got stolen. Its got all the bells and whistle's, CD -- Tape -- AM/FM --MP3 input jack...and now ive got no use for it. Maybe i should ebay it.
  18. NELS BABY!!!! Looking good, glad to see that your working hard out in Lolo. Did you get that rear disk swap done? Any news on the RWD subie? best neal
  19. i recently grabbed up a set of these... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/8hole.jpg they look damn sharp and the car no longer has the maytag spin cycle effect at 80-85 mph
  20. i bought an 85 GL with one of those jdm engines in it with all the paper work after the previous owner cracked the old block. It says that the engine had about 30,000 mi on it when she got it and sold it to me 30,000 mi later. It runs real nice like....has a new head temp sensor, oil pump, water pump, and all that other good stuff you replace on a car that overheated and just about blew up. So i would say im happy with it...i got it with 99k and have put 16k on it...since january. neal
