  1. big change in plans for me guys... i just finalized this today, so im very sorry to the guys i left out of the loop here. im heading up to the event friday nite to help move the 22B and STI with a couple guys from work...were caravaning up in the afternoon tommorrow im going to keep a vigilant eye out for whoever said they were showing on the east, i will see you there. drive safe everyone i have a headache
  2. edited my post...its wonderful that this track doesnt have an address the right address is: somewhere near 322 in pa like youre supposed to drive thru backroads in the middle of nowhere pa and then a drag strip comes out of the atmosphere and jimmy hoffa is there holding a sign that says $5, telling you where to park...
  3. dave... not sure yet, im waiting for everyones response to my meeting place so ill plan accordingly, however - right now it looks like were going for a straight shot to the drag strip. everything is changing daily...guys from work are coming up to me going "yo did you here theres a subaru meet at beaver springs? im going..." so things are getting hectic as the days dwindle. we'll probably be caravaning with an STI and 1 or 2 SOA promo cars unless those guys decide to go up friday nite...i have a headache and for whoever needs it...my cell # is: 215-813-2283, after 9pm during the week please ad whenever on the weekend.
  4. chances of a blown engine are slim...but not out of the question i saw one that over heated so bad the car stopped running, after a cool down everything checked out ok aside from the rad and waterpump they were very durable workhorses, and were basically an EA82 with 2 cylinders added on. i havent seen one with the block split but i wouldnt be surprised if most of the internals from an EA82 can be substituted in place aside from the major components like cams and crank... alot of stuff is still availible thru the dealer and there actually is a (very limited) aftermarket at paeco engine components - anyone have thier web address?
  5. skipper... way interested in this, we'll talk
  6. ATTN: Guys in so. NJ and Phila. i sent you an email regarding a meeting spot here in philly... check when you can... kev...are you going to caravan with us?
  7. time to replace the oil pump...others will tell you to replace seals or o-rings but i think youd rather just go to autozone and buy a new pump for $80 and be done with it. every single lifter clacking EA82 subaru ive worked was fixed after a new oil pump was installed... on this messageboard youll hear alot of "i use brand X oil and filters and my car gained 65hp and gets 10 more MPG"...save yourself the headache and go with GTX and purolator. i go with 20w50 just about all year round in my EA82Ts, even when its colder i wont go any lighter then 15w40 use castrol and purolator, seems to satisfy these engines get all of that water out of the cooling system and refill with a 50/50 mix and see what she does. if you want to get crazy put an aftermarket H20 temp gauge inside the car instead of trying to rely on the digidash. i have one in my XT, it reads about 200 under normal conditions
  8. hahahaha, if i was bringing the RX? none of pauls kids allowed in the XT haha...
  9. just over a week away... lets talk meetplaces for the guys coming from the south jersey/philly area...? any suggestions?
  10. man, these damn west coasters and thier "secret" mobiles... something vintage ?
  11. you go from 1 nissan to 3 subarus - you fanatic looks nice man
  12. SOA built a justy in the late 80s to run for the land speed record of a certain class... it made 120hp at 9200rpms using 3 motorcyle carbs and high compression pistons, the other major engine components were pretty stock i think. the car is still around today and it still holds the record at 123mph for whatever class it competed in. it can be done
  13. both my cars are muffler-less... 1987 XT Turbo with WRX exhaust from the turbo back, was a little loud for my taste (even with 3 converters), ive grown to love it. gave me a headache the first few days i drove it but it eventually grew on me 1985 RX with the stock exhaust and a straight pipe in place of the factory muffler - more to my liking, but the car is still gutless
  14. EJ and i did a fly by night operation to jersey shore to pick up a hatch back i thought it was a joke when i first heard it - jersey shore, pa? its an oxymoron
  15. im in philly... come to our meet in central Pa on the 13th, info is stickied at the top of this forum
  16. GM owns 24% of Fuji Heavy, not Subaru no say at all in day to day operations - Subaru still remains pretty independent
  17. who: some crazy wierdos from the eastern half of the USA...and ill be there too what: a subaru only day at beaver springs raceway where: beaver springs, pa near lewistown, pa - its in the middle of the state why: havent figured that out yet when: doors open at 10 am, EJ and i plan to be there then. food will be served all day and im interested in getting a dinner group together for a few beers and such, i can help you nail out some of the logistics if you need. info on lodging is availible thru the link i sent to you regarding the meet...
  18. ive been talking to a guy name Rich who is a friend of EJs with a nice plot of land in WV who will most likely be organizing a weekend in the next year for a bunch of us to go for a romp on the dirt roads down there...ill make sure to bring it up to him when we see him at the Beaver Springs get together jay are you working on going to the Pa gathering?
  19. never got the email from you cowboy - still need?
  20. jay check your mail, im going to be in touch
  21. i think its fair to say that they are the most reliable/proven OHC engines subaru has made to date...they will do 200K+ without missing a beat if you keep up the maintenance, and most often they will still last that long if you dont
  22. quoting the words of my old man... "the 225ci was the best american motor built"
