bogging out at 3-4k rpm
MaroonDuneDoom replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i'll try top give it a good thorough run through and report from there. i'm almost certain that i blew a head gasket, but why would it do this at only 3-4k? -
ea82 is still overheating and the hose from the thermo is hot, the pass side outer edge of the radiator is hot, but nothing else. no heat of course. does this radiator sound shot, or do you think it is just pluged up. if so, what would be the best way to flush it? thanks for the help guys

ever since i had that overheat, my engine hasn't been the same. when it was overheating, if i held the accelerator halfway to the floor, it would tick like a baseball card on a bicycle. when i floored it, it would bog down and want to die. eventually it did. well, now it seems to bog down a bit between 3 and 4k rpm. what the hell is wrong with my baby:boohoo:

so pull the motor and leave the tranny bolted in? i don't have a cherry picker, but i read somewhere that the engine weighs less than 200 lbs. maybe i could get another hand or two and just lift the bastard out.

i plan on going up to hit the rally next year. if you're still on the board, we could get together with the other so-daks and go camping/4wheeling. i've got a buddy from alabama and he has his heart set on hittin up the rally. find some trails and keep me posted. i love to drive through the hills, but i don't know any backcountry type stuff up there. -

why is it that the engine wont run without the horn fuse? -
i've never pulled the engine before. i have an ea82 spfi. i just want to drop the tranny or do whatever is easiest.

Subaru Exhaust/Asbestos Question

chop it into a line and make sure its not coke. what a waste if it is. -
what do i need to rip apart to replace my clutch? easiest way to do this? i haven't taken a good look yet but i figure i'll get a heads up before i have to get down to business.

mine used to turn on and off when i thumped it. i rewired and it worked just fine. it's only three wires: 12v constant, 12v switched, and a ground. very simple wiring job. that sounds like the easiest way around your problem. it might be all fried inside though. if the rewire doesn't work, go to the JY and get a "new" one. good luck

all this seems so foreign to me because i have lived in wyoming for about 16 years. we never wish for snow. well sometimes when it's really dry. and up here, they don't close s*** for snow. i went to school here for 13 years and ended up with one snow day this last year. thats it. my buddy from 'bama says that if they even have frost they close school. he said that when he was in georgia, it snowed like an inch and everyone was wrecking theitr cars all over the place. just used to big wonderful Wyoming i guess. well, have fun in your meager, less than 6" "frost". when the snow shows up here i'll send it your way. oh yeah, and i realized why the wind blows so hard in Wyoming.... it's because your states suck! ha haw i love that one.

does the coil improve performance much? is it worth the $30?

i'm not bad with a spray can, given the right caps. my tag is "slop". i've got some paint in some amazing spots around town. i'll try to get some pics sometime. -

went snowboarding today and drove a little into the backcountry. got stuck once. i brought gear so we were out in a matter of minutes. coming down, i hit 115. new best for my wagon:banana: . it seemed to stop shaking so badly at around 100-105. he he. would this CV explain why my car shakes like parkinson's above 45 or so? tires haven't been balanced since i rotated them last week. -

my car does feel like the front end is coming apart. when a CV seizes, it's pretty obvious, right? -
Run both fillaments in headlamp
MaroonDuneDoom replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
eventually i'll just run a switch. thanks for the info. -
i was wondering pros/cons rigging up a switch so i can run both fillaments in the headlight. in my 88gl, i can hold the headlight selector switch in just the right spot and turn on both highs and lows. i love the way it illuminates. it throws the long and the short. would this get too hot or blow the bulb or something?

i knew the CVs were shot, but could there be a problem w/the bearings? i sure hope not. -
she pops, she clicks. hell i should make a CD. it used to only pop and click when i cornered. now it pops and clicks even when i'm going straight. if i push the clutch in, it stops. what the hell is causing this?

how bout my wagon? i can come up with twelve shots of her! c'mon. it'll sell like nude celebrities.
