August 1, 201213 yr I want to see the video of the officer asking why there's an engine in your back seat.
August 2, 201213 yr Author Took the Subercoupe for its maiden voyage today... went about 15 miles. car ran awesome. needs an alignment very bad. ill take it to work tomorrow and do that. currently working on the trans and clutch issue. hope to have that done before WCSS... ill try to get some more pics tomorrow when i have it on a lift. -=Suberdave=-
August 9, 201213 yr Awesome! ... I really love to see Pics of that wonderful Subie. Very kindly let me ask you this questions about the engine inside the Cabin: ► How hot will become the Cabin during Normal Driving? ► Does it blows odors / fumes to the Cabin? ► Do you plan to isolate the Engine's heat & gasses? I ask because it Could be Dangerous to Drive with the Windows up (in example during Rainstorms). All those issues could be solved, also I know it is not built to be a daily driver; but I am curious about the Overall car Behaviour and I have some ideas that could Help you to solve the above listed situations. Kind Regards.
August 9, 201213 yr Yeah Jezsek, I think he mentioned he'll be working on a firewall in the back. But for now, just run without the hatch.
August 10, 201213 yr Author it has a firewall between the cabin and the engine. it has a plexie glass window in the top half so i can see out the back. in the back on each side of the licence plate i have a 175CFM fan. they both turn on when the engine temp gets to 80*C or if the engine room temp gets to 40*C... i am currently installing a 2005 WRX transmission and a stage II Exedy clutch. -=Suberdave=-
August 10, 201213 yr i am currently installing a 2005 WRX transmission and a stage II Exedy clutch. -=Suberdave=- Nice! How are you handling the transfer case? Just weld the center diff?

Thank you for the Kind Answer! I Believe it is a Really Good Idea to have automatic electric fans there, also the Plexi Glass... so you already controled the situation. I was thinking about to install there some heat & Noise isolating barrier, Like this ~► http://www.soundproofingamerica.com/ECHOLESS-ROLL-MAT.pdf Because I used a very similar product in a VolksWagen Bus, long years ago, with great results. I Really Like your Nice & Powerful coupe, almost can't wait to see it on a Video. Kind Regards.
August 10, 201213 yr Author got the new trans and clutch in tonight. still have to put the suspension back together and a few bolts up top. but its after midnight and i have to get up at 5:30am so id better get to bed... -=Suberdave=- P.S. ill get some more photos and even a video this Saturday or Sunday.
August 12, 201213 yr Author well here it is... a short video. sorry the sound sucks. but what do you expect for a digital camera. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
August 12, 201213 yr Nice! Very short vid, but plenty effin loud! It's weird to hear a sooby boxer motor with forced induction, and hear it rev and let off WITHOUT hearing a massive woosh from the BOV.
August 13, 201213 yr That thing is Killer Dave! While watching the video all I could do was smile and think to myself holy crap!
August 14, 201213 yr Awesome! I Watched your video on a large widescreen via a game console XBox 360, and I was stunned, your Subercoupe is truly impressive, very well done and the rear engine is a very clean installation. I Believe that this Thread should be Moved to the "Members Rides" Section. Best regards and congratulations.
August 15, 201213 yr Thanks for this dave,it proves that what I am thinking of doing is actually doable,it will be very very similair EXCEPT the shell will be my brumby and the engine maybe a EZ30r oh and maybe no super charger for starters
August 21, 201213 yr So happy I got to see this thing in person, absolutely amazing! So well done. Wish I could have seen it in action!
August 22, 201213 yr Author well took the Subercoupe to the WCSS this last weekend. 220 miles round trip. Overall about 6 hours of run time on the engine. Used 11.25 gallons of gas. That's 19.5 MPG... not bad, since it has not been totally tuned yet. Took home plaque for best Old School Engine Swap. witch i have won 3 out of the last 4 years with my wagon. Did the whole trip without any issues, other than my but was kinds sore. i guess race seats are not meant to be sat in for hours on end... -=Suberdave=-
August 22, 201213 yr Good to hear it made such a trip without incident. Got any more videos? Preferably a burnout or launch?
August 22, 201213 yr Great to hear it's holding up well. It would still be awesome if we could get a more detailed mod list! If you don't mind....

August 23, 201213 yr Front mounted radiator huh? The stock water pump doesn't have trouble pushing the water that far?
August 23, 201213 yr Author nope. i talked to some VW guys that put the EG into buses, they said they never use an extra pump. the hottest it has gotten is 201*F and that was in stop and go traffic on a 85*F day. normally runs right at 194*F. -=Suberdave=- Front mounted radiator huh? The stock water pump doesn't have trouble pushing the water that far?
