your clutch is a 12 inch

thank you:)

Life time warrenty parts are cheaper because they are lesser quality than 3 month warrenty parts. The companys hope that most people will buy the cheaper, longer warrenty parts so they make those parts crappier so they can afford to replace those parts when they are returned.

Contact Karleen at Precision Driveline 708-755-3278 or email her at theclutchplace@aol.com. I've bought three clutches over the years from her for three different cars. All clutch kits were manufactured by Sachs and are all quality. Their price was also the lowest of any supplier I found. I first found them with an ebay purchase and later bought more clutchkits directly from them.

Clutch disks for the EA81 are either 7-7/8" diameter or 8-7/8" in diameter depending on whether they are 2WD or 4WD. I don't know where the 12" figure came from.

yea i took it off today and it measured close to 7-7/8" the motor was pulled from a 2wd and it was all compatable with the 4wd tranny so we used it.

You can get a kit for around $100. It will come with the pressure plate, clutch disk, and bearings. Should also come with the centering tool wich is very important to have. Shop around, take the best price and then call Kragen/Schucks/Checkers (whichever you have in your hometown) and tell them the place with the cheapest price and the price you were quoted. They will beat it by 5% and you'll end up with the cheapest kit in town.

It'll be 7 7/8" inch if the engine is from a 2WD car. When you go price the kit, ask for a '82 2WD Subaru Clutch kit, because in '83 they changed to the larger clutch for every EA81. If you ask for a '84 2WD kit, you'll still end up with a 8 7/8 disc.

Incorrect Junkie - the 2WD EA81's ALWAYS had the 200mm clutch disc. The 4WD's also had them up till 83, when the 4WD only was upgraded to a 225mm clutch. No 2WD EA81 ever came with a 225mm clutch.

I can cite 2 examples for that - one being my own wagon - 84, with a 200mm (now replaced of course). And Jon-of-Scio's 88 hatch - also 200mm. Both are (or were, in my case) 2WD EA81's.

And please people - no more of this silly standard measurement stuff - these are metric cars, with metric parts.....
