February 13, 20197 yr I’m no longer driving the car due to my having a stroke, my brother is driving it to work now. So this problem is kinda second hand. What is the ECS Light connected to or monitoring? On a 1986 Brat.

It's unused on 4wd models (which all brats are) Is it on? 2wd wagons/sedans, etc..had "feedback" carb, which could vary air bleed to adjust mixture based on O2 sensor. I don't think Brats ever got that setup MAYBE in California?

It’s just weird that it came on last night on his way home. It’s also from CA originally. It also has a Weber carburetor on it too. Edited February 13, 20197 yr by Dinky26 To add carburetor.

If it has a Weber then the computer and ECS light are doing nothing. Pull the bulb.
February 14, 20197 yr You sure it's not the 60k EGR reminder light? That one is automatically tripped every 60k. As above ECS is meaningless on a Weber swapped Brat. GD
February 14, 20197 yr Egr light was what this reminded me of, on my 86 4WD wagon. Wasn't sure if Brats were the same.

February 15, 20197 yr I also have an 86 Brat. I have not seen the light yet. Can you tell me how to reset it? Paul

Paul There's three connectors under the dash - you unplug the pair that's plugged in, and connect the one that was free to it's mate from the pair. This resets the light for another 60k - then you swap them back again. You repeat every 60k. It's a reminder to clean the EGR. It's in the service manual. February 15, 20197 yr ECS lamp does come on in the EA81Ts. I've seen it flash during a misfire event.
