February 5, 20206 yr I just bought a 1985 Brat!! I am pretty sure the parts are the same as my ‘84 GL Wagon. I need to replace the windshield. It is the same as a GL, 1984, right? I am in St. louis, and the closest windshield I can find is in Chicago. Group mind, do you have any suggestions? mkoch
February 7, 20206 yr Same windscreen as the ‘84 GL. Can you get the one you found shipped? We can still get them new in Australia. O’Briens glass replaced mine last year. If the one is through a glass company, see if they can ship it and fit it! Cheers Bennie
February 8, 20206 yr I was at a glass place maybe 1.5 years ago taking a friend to pick up a windshield for his old fullsize chevy van. Just asked out of curiosity and the owner said a windshield for my Brat was still available. Seems he stated the gasket was not. I replaced mine in 2001 but it has started showing some minor pitting over time. The gasket will be the tough part. Mine was replaced with the windshield so it not supper hard. The owner thought mine was new enough to most likely reuse. Yours, if it is factory, will probably be tough to reuse.
February 8, 20206 yr Try safelite AutoGlass. I had mine done in April 2018. Check on line, they will give you a quote. I got a discount as time went by about a month went by and I setup the appointment.
February 8, 20206 yr Precision Replacement Parts contracted the mold maker in Thailand for our Gen One cars - and Brat of course. We made two group purchases with members here. We ended up getting ours for around $38 before shipping.
