These engines aren't particularly hard on oil or overly powerful for their size and don't really benefit from synthetics. This is the inside of the engine after about 5 2K mile oil changes with a few atf flushes. When I first got it, it was worst. The reason a smaller filter increases oil pressure it due to a flow restriction, which is not a good thing when it comes to the lubricating lifeblood of your engine. el_freddo Posted June 15, 2020 Share Posted June 15, 2020 Oil pressure increase seen after the filter is a good thing. Between the filter and pump, any increase in oil pressure wouldn’t be seen on a gauge. So if there’s an increase in oil pressure on a physical gauge, that’s got to be a good thing.
