April 12, 20223 yr I had what seemed like front axle problems. I can drive in 4wd, but not 2wd. The video explains is all. Parking brake on, engine running, 1st gear 2wd , clutch engaged. April 12, 20223 yr Stripped hub splines. Usually caused by a loose castellated nut to start with. Cheers Bennie
April 12, 20223 yr A fellow on the FB Vintage Subaru groups has hubs for sale. I made sure to buy a set even though I’m currently not running a 70’s Subie. I will be soon and I’m glad I have my back up set now. Notorious issue and as these cars get older expect it to show more.
April 12, 20223 yr Yep, not uncommon problem. Nut too loose, and/or incorrect washer placement underneath it. Strips the splines in the hub out.
