Where do the lift kits go on the car (ea82). I have looked at the pictures of the kit, but still not sure where they install.

Take the pics out to your car and look at both at the same time. Basically anywhere that the suspension or drivetrain bolts to the car its self, part of the lift gets installed there.

spacers for the top shock mount. spacers for the whole rear subframe thingy, the driveshaft hanger in the middle. thats about all i can think of.

So nothing with the engine/ trans sub frame gets moved?

Yes, the engine drops 3" with the suspension, and the transmission drops 2".

Are there any plans, drawings, or exact details for me to make my own lift kit?

You COULD maybe find some drawings of stuff.

 

Look at www.subarubrat.com and he may have pics of how he setup his own lift kit.

 

Generally what I would suggest is to first understand the basics of lifting, is to get a "PK Davis" lift from www.ozified.com . Once you understand how and what needs to be lifted on a Subaru can you really make a decent lift.

Basically you extend the struts on the front from one end or the other, drop the engine cross member, the rear of the front subframe (3 bolts on each side on EA81's) then lower the rear mustache bar and trailing arm assy.

So no cv angles are increased?

The lift acts like a body lift in ways. You unbolt the struts from the top. You unbolt the engine crossmember and you extend the steering linkage. In the rear you drop the diff hanger and you drop the torsion bar, then you add extensions for the rear shocks.

 

The CVs retain the propper angle if done correctly. The engine is dropped 3" along with the Tranny. If you lift the car more than 3-4" then you need to think of shift linkages and extend brake lines etc.

 

I believe the EA82's even have a tranny crossmember that is dropped as well.
