ea81 heat ?

Featured Replies

what is the temp of the "heat" that comes out of the ac vents?

what is the temp guage at?

mine is 100* at 1/4

bur!

I can't hold on to my steering wheel with the heater on high. Ouch!

I can cook a 7/11 burrito with my windshield defroster

Nothing says breakfast like a dashboard burrito!

it being a brat with no ac, the recirc puts the air where I need it, helps to keep the windows clear too

the 195 thermostat, gasket, coolant heater and drain plug are on the list

napa had a special, buy a thermostat, get a free thermostat gasket

would the 180 thermostat be causing the trouble

it seems to warm up just fine but when I go down the road, it drops

Is your radiator fan kicking on?

Is your coolant low?

Is there a sale on thermostats?

Got to be a thermo. If not it's a real cheap way to start trouble shooting the problem.

My Trooper gives cooler air (driving) when the coolant gets low....

that's what my dad's did when the t-stat stuck open. I had put in one of the safe-t-stats. his thermoswitch failed, and got hot, and it forced the t-stat to stick open. my mom kept complaining about being cold :) it would get nice and toasty sitting there warming up, but then drop down to the bottom of the guage when on the highway.

the only reason you're able to maintain 1/4 is because of the cardboard you put in.....

fan comes on, that system is on spec

coolant maintains level, jsut below the level plate

only about 1/4 of the rad has custom air flow controller

my brat has a new radiator and a new thermostat, and when it's warmed up the needle is just under the line. The heater doesn't blow all that hot either. I think I may have to replace the heater core (next spring :) )

change thermostat to 195*

install coolant heater

the radiator drian cock was broke, amazingly it held

test drive 120* air out ac vent

temp guage stayed at 1/2

the old thermostat is good, so is the new one, I boiled them

the air sitll seems too cool :banghead:

will others please report the temps?? that would be helpful

I put a 205 thermostat in my brat the night I got it. It gets good heat (cant fun the heater on high for more then 5 or 10 min) at 0 F. Temp on the needle stays at about halfway up the gauge.

The parts store said they didnt stock a sooby 205 thermo, so I asked for a 54mm 205 degree chevy thermo and they had one.. funny how much carquest sucks... thermo works great

 that's what the 3x expanding foam and filler metal is for

the old thermostat was 160*

torxxx, did you drill a vent hole?

still not as warm as it should be, but the book spec 140* cooler than coolant doesn't mean crap
