Dude, that's friggin cool!!!!! I'd pimp that around, would make my friend's Toyota look like a full size :-P

Holy crap that thing rules!!!!

What do you think the top speed is? 50mph?

Sweet, its like a 4WD subaru 360 pickup with more power, and new(er)

I'd roll in one :D

Needs a lift kit and some ATV mud tires on it :headbang:

I was thinking it'd be cool to get that and put a EA81 in it geared for towing. Re-enforce the frame. Kinda make a tug-boat out of it for towing subaru's and parts.

I have a feeling that you would not be able to license one of those. It looks like a pretty new model and would not meet the safety or emission standards for its year of manufacture.

You could license it - at least here in OR.

1. never have I had a safety inspection done to any of my cars.

2. the emmisions thing is easily overcome by licensing it out of the city. No testing done there. Also - it might pass since they don't do visual inspections here.

Besides that - people license kit cars all the time. They don't meet all of those requirements, so I would assume there is a way to license an "experimental" car - similar to experimental aircraft.

as soon as the feds find that you have tried to get it street legal, they will impound it and crush it.

All vehicles in the us have to pass US FEDERAL safety and emission tests specific to their year, UNLESS they are older than 25 years. This is domain of the Federal Govt., not the states.

Go over to the VW Bus listserv (type2.com) and do a search about this. You will see all kinds of stuff about it can't be done, as the old style bus was produced until 2002 in Brazil and Mexico and people have been trying to get them in for years

Also, everyone on my microcar message board comments about this often as they all want to bring in the Smart. (microcar.org)

I would like this 550 cc watercooled powerplant for my Subaru 360 Sambar Vans and trucks. I emailed the seller, hoping he can help me out as he says in that auction that he can sell the engine, tranny, clutch, etc.

We'll see.

Regards,

One was booming along a service road with two BIG Hawaiian course workers in front (and a big Hawaiin is BIG). The truck bed was e-m-p-t-y.

A golf cart came zipping out of a course crossing and the driver stomped on the binders as hard as he could.

The thing stood up on it's nose and went right on over ending up on it's top. The blalahs climbed out picked it up and put it back on it's wheels and drove to the maintenance yard. They knew they were gonna get in trouble big time, and the maintenance supervisor was out. They talked one of the crew into removing the doors, and Sawzalling the roof and windshield frame off. Then they rigged up hinged crossbars to fit the door locks and stuck a flat plate plex windshierld on it.

The managers never noticed, they just thought they had ordered a 'convertible' version.

Plenny smaht dos buggahs ... dumb haole lunas.
