6 inch lift coupled with 27 inch tires, and an underpowered motor? doesnt sound too ultimate.

Now Santa's list is ready...

There's a couple things I'm scratching my head on,

your apparently keeping the stock body shell and

shortening the wheel base?

That concept seems kinda mutually exclusive?

I took 15" taken out of my driveline but I didn't use the old body.

Also...why are you choosing carbs?

If I had a choice, I'd use an injection system.

My carb is a B'otch to refire on an angle.

Document your build process.

We want pics!

trying to keep it road legal thus I need a title and windshield.

I have done the totalally ground up building befor and it sure takes along time setting everything up. if I use the stock body its just cut and weld all the geometry is alrady figured out.

carbs I want to build a duel carb manifold thought it would be a good test rig also less thing to give out like computer.

this whole project isnt set in stone . loo2king for all input

i think that this would be cool.you should go with 28inch super swampers though :brow:

to get the title/legality you need most of the glass and some resemblance of doors (i know, jeeps drive around without doors but cops are used to seeing those. theyre NOT used to seeing 80something subarus with no doors) so you dont get hassled by the p'ops.

(2)you like carbs for simplicity? that seems silly. ive gone though tons of carbs but the first SPFI that i converted to has ran perfectly. even under 3 feet of water. i would HIGHLY recommend the SPFI conversion if you ar building the ultimate sube.

and dont forget the divorsed tcase. thats about as ultimate as it gets.

good luck man. keep everyone posted with pics

iirc, jeeps can drive around without doors because they have about 4-5" of a lip on the floor... subarus do not have this

Put in an EJ22 and you'll never look back. I've run a stock ea82, weberized ea82, weberized and cammed ea82, SPFI and cammed ea82, and finally the EJ22. The EJ motors are in a whole other league when it comes to power and drivability.

It depends on what state you live in. I can drive around Nevada without doors and it's completely LEGAL. No doors. Nothing. I had some tube doors built for the brat because I was traveling into Washington, and they have laws stating that you need SOME resemblance of doors on your car.

ya, after a solid axle swap.

You should start with a two door hatch so you don't have to do all the excessive fabrication. :brow:

On my 86 GL I had no doors and got pulled over twice, but not for the doors. As long as you have proper restraints they shouldn't be able to do anything. I got pulled over for having my stock rims flipped inside out so the tires stuck out the fenders.

I like it...

The doors are exactly what I would have done.

I prefer a cut door to a tube door.

Glueing the front and back together is going to be tough.

Do you have an over all length or wheel base your shooting for?

done some measuring, looks like 12-14 "cut out of center, 8-11" removed in back,

wheelbase around 86".

all the welding is simple, sheet metal use my MIG welder with .030 wire with 75/25 co2/argon shield

Heres a First atempt at a proto photoshop

those are 29S! and its an ea82. tuck that roll cage down a bit and tis lookin pretty neato

attachment.php?attachmentid=2943&stc=1

that'd be so cool to have!!! (the car,no need for a kid)

I do like the idea of chopping off the rear bumper and the sheetmetal behind it. The EA82s have such a bad overhang in stock form.
