Does anyone use an aux-set of backup lights for off-roading/general use..?

i could see them being very useful in some situations... especially when there's a wooden tobogan behind you :banghead:

I was also thinking of wiring my old drill trigger to the backup lights... for those pesky tailgaters

I've got a set on mine. They're Pilot Navigator fogs, 55w each, mounted to the roof rack.

Love 'em. Haven't used them yet in traffic, but usually I'm the one tailgating.

mine are similiar to Samo's, but they are 90w's. They are the perfect backup/cargo light. I usually don't drive my Brat on the street after dark, so don't really have to deal with tailgaters.

Samo, I am jelous of your decal collection! As for reverse lights, I would love to build a tube rear bumper for my Brat next summer and incorporate some lights into it. I will keep everyone updated! Kurt

I have a pair of 50 watt mini driving lights mounted just above my rear bumper. They're wired via a relay to the backup lights. Work fine and are so out of the way I forgot I had them. Installed them after a scary episode trying to back down a "road" on the edge of a cliff in a snowstorm. If I get around to it, I'd like to install a switch in the cargo area so I can turn on the lights for camping etc.

Thanks! I love all the stickers on her.

i was thinking of doing up some lights in the back but when i put on my front aux lights,my rpms drop.lights are 50w hooked up with a relay(wires were there from other set of lights i had)though new lights didn't say it was needed.

i assume they're pulling alot off the alt/battery.(cheap walmart battery,i miss my optima yellow top)

50w wouldn't draw that much current... just about 4.1 amps....

I can leave my 100w's on all day and start right up no problem

then what would cause my rpms to drop as soon as i turn them on.when i turn them off rpms go back up.

it takes more juice from the alternator... i guess... wouldn't your rpms go up from that though?

eh... i have my lights wired directly to the battery

Remember clear lights facing rearward are illegal in most states...

Had to show the stickers too, It appears that Samo and i were seperated at birth.

Love those "sticker wagons" guys.

How is everyone running the wiring when mounting lights on the roof?

My wiring just goes to the front of the roof rack and goes down the A pillar, to a set of relays under the hood, i'm gonna see about cleaning it up and running it through the rack, or getting that plastic conduit and some zip ties.

Those "sticker wagons" would never pass inspection around here. :D Can't see out the back windows enuff.

I once took a dodge shadow in for inspection and it came back with no rear tint or stickers. They never even bothered to ask me or warn me just ripped it all out.

I would have definately put up a fight about that... anyway, I won't hijack the thread with my ranting.

My wiring, to answer the question above, runs out the stock antenna hole, up to the rack, and back to the rear lights and replacement antenna. It works wonderfully.

on the rx7 rally car we had a hella 500 mounted to the rear bumper wired into the reverse lights.... just pull the bulbs for the reverse lights and the power is sufficient. worked like a charm......
