I was just looking around Ebay and found this Juice Box Chip.

It says it will NOT work on Forester Turbo or Diesel engines.:confused:

i dont know, but i dont think it works on my OBW with the sterling engine either

Definately good news. I found this picture and caption in my Subaru Impreza book, and I might as well share it now :) It was offered in a diesel version, so it kind of goes with this thread.

with the Automobile Living room of Geneva, Mr Kyoji Takenaka,

President of the group Fuji Heavy Industries, presented the model

Subaru B9 Tribeca intended for the European market, hybrid vehicle

B5-TPH and confirmed the development of diesel technology on an engine

boxer with cylinders opposed flat. Here principal extracts of the

declaration of Mr Kyoji Takenaka.

 

European market: "last year, on the 596 000 Subaru sold throughout the

world, 62 000 were it in Europe. Since 2002, our sales progress to

notable Europe of manner. This progression amounts indeed to 63% on

the three last years total. For 2006, our let us envisage to further

increase our results of sales to reach 64 500 units. Europe is one of

the key markets in the total strategy of Subaru. "

 

Subaru B9 Tribeca: "We will introduce in Europe, with the

Can you just imagine what this thing will sound like at both idle and all revved up? Quote from autoblog article stating that the engine "produce sounds similar to Beelzebub (the devil) gargling a Harley".

Diesel engines for cars have made huge strides in recent years.

 

I recently rented a car in Europe (Spain actually). I didn't realize that it was a diesel at first; it was very quiet, and very smooth. And no noticeable exhaust smell/smoke.

It was the 'flat' torque-speed characteristics that made me realize that this was a diesel (high-torque at low revs.).

I was very impressed with that engine (BTW it was a Ford).

 

If Subaru can do as well, I may be the in the market for a diesel next time around.

Diesels are popular the world over but not really in North America. I drove a nice Nissan frontier diesel in Thailand.

 

Well they arent popular here for two reasons. GM did a really good job on ruinung the reputation of diesels. Secondly our emission standards wont let them in, but thats about to change.
