Hi All,

 

I have already changed the the wires in my 92 Loyale to a high quality / high discharge type, but now I need to change the spark plugs.

 

I want to get the best ones that will improve performance and millage.

 

What do you think?

Get NGK, they perform the best in our subarus, thats what they come with from the factory, as far as high performance ones, there is really nothing good out there, or the oem's would be running them from the factory, if you want to get a bit more pep out of your plugs get an accel supercoil, and then gap your plugs to .050 pickup is a little better, but realistically not much more than a foot pound at low end.

I've used NGK V-powers for some time, recently switched to Bosch Platinums....

 

I didn't notice any difference beyond $0.20 more for the Bosch plugs.

Yeah, NGK all the way. Don't care too much for the Bosch.

What's "NGK" stand for?

 

I don't think they sell these locally.

Don't know what it stands for. They're just NGK's.. I'm sure they are sold locally.. they are sold around the world.. and no they aren't sold under another name. Just NGK.. they are actually a quite common brand

I'm still new to the old Subies, but I know Bosch plugs are crap in Legacies and anything newer. I ended up paying some $30 for my Platinums, and upon literally DOZENS of suggestions, I switched back to NGK's and everything about the car's performance immediately improved, from slight HP increase to better gas mileage. Yes the platinums will last a lot longer, but I'd rather have my car run fantastic for 5,000 miles than run like crap for 20,000 miles...

Where can I buy NGK plugs in Rochester, NY?

you can't find 'em in rochester? i live in a town of 50,000 people, who knows how many tmes smaller than rochester. i am truly surprised. like everyone said, you should be able to get them at any major part store in the tion. i suggest just calling around and asking different stores who has them. it's a good start. i know they are in town somewhere.

Any good parts store like Napa, CarQuest, AutoZone, ...Etc. should carry NGK Plugs. The Stock/OEM Plug is a NGK BPR6ES-11, The V-Power Plug is a BPR6EY-11 the G-Power Platinum is a BPR6EGP and the Iridium plug is a BPR6EIX-11

I found the NGK plugs at Advanced Auto Parts for $1.36 each. I got the "Split V" design because it's supposed to deliver a little more power.
