May 25, 200619 yr i'm bored and looking for a project would this affect my car in any bad ways? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-Impreza-Forester-Outback-Supercharger-turbo_W0QQitemZ8067320685QQcategoryZ33741QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
May 25, 200619 yr Drain your alternator, messy up your engine bay..... It will help a lot in the weight department. Of course just carrying plastic instead of cash would help just as much. GD
May 25, 200619 yr That thing would have to sping HELLA fast to even come close to a turbo...what was it like 100,000RPMs? It more then likely will have drag on your car. But, hey, if you want try it, do it, tell us how it goes. My .02 cents Justin Johnson
May 25, 200619 yr I saw one of those on a small block Chevy which was a stock engine. Thing ended up grenading and getting sucked into the engine... bad day...
May 25, 200619 yr I've always wondered - 20 or so odd car batteries, and a leaf blower motor..... maybe. Would be a good eppisode of mythbusters - I can only imagine what they would end up using for 15 lbs of boost from something "electric" GD
May 25, 200619 yr Author i was thinking about using a 150 mph gas leaf blower but then i would have to get out of the car and start it lol o well i'll find something better to do with the money like Tires i guess
May 25, 200619 yr It's a bilge pump from a boat. It's designed to move air, not to compress it. It won't give you any added performance. This guy rips people off all the time. Here's one of his feedback comments: Thanks for the $180 deskfan... No thanks to the $10 rebate for feedback So apparently he pays people to give him positive feedback. If you read the feedback, some of it is + but with negative comments. The physics behind the device just don't work. Don't waste your money.

May 25, 200619 yr ...the device just don't work. Don't waste your money. I Agree... Also with the Mythbusters Idea...
May 26, 200619 yr did any one else here see the video of the guys on a dyno putting a leaf blower on their engines... hold on i'll find it
May 26, 200619 yr 10 minutes later http://videos.streetfire.net/player.aspx?fileid=AB544E3B-5DFF-416D-9CFD-A1AD23CA9564
May 26, 200619 yr I saw something like this awhile back posted. This one has everything in it tho. If you think an ea82 needs a giant turbo... Just an electric fan blown into airbox changes how it runs. There is not much happening in an engine that gets 40mpg on an intake smaller round than my... :-\ Interesting gadget to kick in at 1500 rpm or so ... (why wait till full throttle?). I still believe it works like they say, except pushing my own luck switching it on at lower rpms ...
May 28, 200619 yr I bet it does something.. I am certain I encountered someone who tried a "smog pump" (simply pumped air) from a 70's v8 more common on chryslers than anything. Gave an idle like a locomotive (a bit exxagerated of course) and did not do so well in the auto tranny shifts as it ran all the time. Don't know if it was carbed or not, but the smog pump would be coming from one.Helped tremedously on low rpm boost, right where four cylinders really need it.I bet a standard shift could milk it along. I would like to try that electric version sometime....
