LOL

No seriously, I've been worried about my EJ25's headgaskets forever, and today the engine block CRACKED.

On the four lane...where theres no emergency lane...

Blew it all to hell, its not getting fixed.

Pricing my options, I'm staying away the EJ25's that are older than the 05's

Great car though, I'm sticking with them, I am thinking that massive water pit I drove through a while back might be the cause. Not sure.

Sorry man, but that looks like you broke a rod and broke through the block. That has 100% nothing to do with the headgasket issues. That's just bad luck. Sorry to see or hear.

Keith

If you got a fair bit of water in the cylinder then that could of caused a rod the break (because you can't really compress water that well) and that might of blown a hole thru the case. But that would of only happend if the water was trapped somewhere and then under intence throttle made it's way in.. Just guessing. Unlikely.. I'd say your just unlucky like Keith.

Always sad to see a flat four like that...

yeah, i have to second that MY2000 up had the external coolant leak. as long as you kept an eye on coolant level, you can live with that. i'm thinking you may have hydrolocked the engine temporarily and that did some damage when you drove through the water.

Aw man, that sucks, especailly when people see you in a subaru and its on the side off the road. That must suck rump roast.

Hi Bruce:

I am currious to know how many miles are on your buggy?

Sorry about your luck, but now you will have a tight new engine!

At around 70K I drove it through some deep water and water got in the engine, I changed all the fluids and plugs/wires to be safe. Didnt seemed to have helped.

was it working in the deep water, how did u get in the water?

famous last words:

Did this by chance start off with the words "hey watch this...."

air intake.

A puddle got deep real fast.

well that sucks but the car wasnt running was it?

let's be careful here, the correct terminology is "hold my beer and watch this!"

Sorry about your car. My next call would be to CCR engine builders.

Hot engine- deep cold water, this is not good!

6 hours after I got my first car I said this:

"hey watch this...."

Then 3 seconds later I cracked my block..............but I hit a tree.

Actually, I went through the puddle two months ago.

Heres the video of when we got it running again:

I did full tune up when I got back, but I'm still clueless as to the exact cause.

Gonna put a snorkel on your next one???????????

Actually I found this online, but I liked the bumper design so will probably use this as a guide for building the bumper for my OB. Anyone happen to know who's car this is as i would like to get more pics of the bumper

I am no mechanic, but my guess is the cold water cracked the block, though it took a little time for it to blow apart.

Here is one to make u smile... This is out of my 1983 Tercel 4wd wagon. Rebuilt the motor over about 6 months and then forgot to tighten the Connecting rod cap bolts.
