No shortage of Subarus here in CT. I see you’re in Htfd Several small shops dedicated to Subarus. One in the Cheshire area I think it’s right on Rt 10 in Milldale just south of 691. Can’t recall the name. They seem to have a number of Subarus out front for sale. And at least a couple guys out east of you. You know the deal - try to avoid the major dealers if possible.

Learning to drive a manual is an important life skill. Point out to him that LOTS of females can drive a manual. He needs to learn anyway. Best way to learn is to have to do it or not be able to get where you need to go. GD

So I backed em off about 1/4 turn CCW and torqued them to 7 ft-lbs. (about 1/8 turn CW) and it felt slightly tighter than I think is optimal but they don't feel/act stripped so I'm going to go with it.

Well I was not cleaning the MAF correctly. I thought you just spray it into the MAF housing engine off. I removed it from the housing and tried to clean it. Engine ran well for 10 seconds, then died. Something had changed, so replaced MAF for a whopping $36 and it ran well. Case closed.

Definitely factory fog lights. The problem with using these switch panels is that you need the switch button or mod the blank that’s there so you can actually push the button and have it return back again. I tried it for my driving lights but it didn’t work out very well. I ended up going the easier route - used aftermarket toggle switches I put my cruise control panel on there - but I modded one of the blanks to mount the panel on, so that’s neatly mounted and the button pushed into the panel. I installed the insert bushings today. My original bushings were completely wasted, the centers were torn from the outer rubber entirely. I was not able to tell which side of the new bushing was the top or bottom. So I installed one with the two fingers on top and one with the fingers at the bottom. I did trim them slightly to fit, and greased them liberally. Both went in easy and my diff is now solid as a rock and the thump noise is gone. Awesome fix that took very little time to complete.

Main guy I am stiff curious about is Skip. I know he had his wife and best friend pass away close in time and he’s been in Florida. If anyone hears anything please post.

I agree with all of these criticisms. Particularly the advertising! I mostly hate FB, because of all of the time I spend (waste) on there. I have a very scattered group of friends and FB has proven a somewhat effective way to keep track of everyone. What I do not like though is how strained some of these relationships can become based on divisive issues like politics. If I were in a bar with a buddy, I feel confident that we could put a disagreement to rest pretty quickly with a joke, but man do things get heated on social media! I am certainly outspoken, but at the same time, I am not interested in getting into it with most people about hot button issues like religion and politics. I always liked USMB because there is a certain level of civility here; a "live and let live" spirit. I have had other cars and visited other forums for Jeeps, Dodges, Hondas, Minis, etc... Some of those mofos are crazy! There is an unwelcoming feeling to some of these forums. Because USMB is such a cool place with great members I have come back to this forum with non-subaru questions from time to time in the non-subaru areas of USMB. I've always received great support there too. So thank you all for providing a place online where I feel at home and can access such a wealth of knowledge. Hope the day never comes when USMB dies out!
