  1. I cut a used Subaru Timing belt and wrapped it around the cam gear 1 3/4 times and took the other end to the crankshaft and looped it around so the teeth of the belt locked together with a vise grips as a clamp. I had to cut 4 teeth off the belt so it would slip between the cam gears but that was easy and no harm. Worked like a champ to break them loose and lock them to torque the bolt to 58 ft lbs. All of the old seals were junk, but came out with ease as they were a little undersized. The fellow used sealant to hold them in. Silly. I cleaned everything up and installed Subaru seals. Hope to have it back together and leak checked today. The crank shaft polished out well, I think it will be fine. Oil pump bolts and seal taken care of as well.
  2. for 90 years I sneezed my head off in spring
  3. I've been cutting the bottom off of 5 gallon buckets ever since working in the industrial sector where this is common practice and has been since right after they invented dirt. Spin the bucket through a running bandsaw blade. Can make many heights, cut notches for easier drain, etc. This is nothing new. Wait till dude discovers funnels made from soda bottles! LOL. GD
  4. Pretty sure Euro EA82Ts didn't have catalytic converters. They weren't required in Britain until the mid 1990's. I think the ECU may also have been different than USDM, but this is all conjecture. Lots of EU-based members on the Facebook groups could answer this easily.
  5. All "switches" are gone. Don't worry though, the rear gate has now become the battery killer switch. Posted HERE Campers and tailgaters have discovered that system readiness of the hatch motor quickly drains the battery, especially troublesome if you are camping in remote areas. https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/tailgate-open-battery-drain.517663/ There are various solutions using a caribiner to trick the lock mechanism. Seems like there should be a software upgrade but according to the Grand Wizard of Volt (member Rampage) the circuitry is fairly complicated.
