Update FWIW. Daughter reports oil level is within normal level but perhaps could take a half quart so she added about that much (although she said she spilled quite a bit so who know exactly how much was added). Light was off for a while, then came on for ten minutes, that on and off some and finally on steady. She will check in the morning when dead cold to get exact reading. Engine seems fine with no noises, excess heat, nor tailpipe smoke and she has run about 9 hours today. Frustrating for me and wish this part could just be replaced more easily. I will post again when I know more.

Click and Clack once recommended a new driver be given a nice square car like a Volvo (or Forrester?) so they can turn it into an oval.;-)

Actually the O2 comes online much sooner than operating temp. The sensor has it's own heating element and will be online and operating within about 2 minutes typically. GD

I have never worried about the flammability of any automotive refrigerant I've used. They don't ignite as easily as people think and certainly are far less dangerous than the 20-30 gallons of gasoline in my fuel tank. Some people who have complained about the dangers of using 6-8 ounces of ES-12a or HC-12a seem to forget there an thousands of motor vehicles running around with huge LP tanks onboard. Good substitute refrigerants that are banned from automotive use are due to highly paid lobbyist in our political system, not because the danger is real. Ever notice that when a refrigerant patent is about to expire a new one comes along that is freshly patented and protected from competition?
