  1. It's not about being a loyalist to any brand. And Toyota's hold their value in the US as well - at least some of them anyway. Avalon's are cheap because no one looks at them. Camry's and 4-Runner's are expensive. Like I said though - do you research. Every make has problem children. Every model has problem years. Don't buy the first generation of anything. Stick with older stuff that has been proven. GD
  2. Trip over , car made it flawlessly. Health hasn’t been the best due to a virus. Colorado is where it’s at. Not sure which day I’m leaving yet but I’ll be in Tempe and up in Scottsdale , but I do have some cold/flu symptoms. Gahddammit it’s hot here. Send ice !
  3. Maybe try a different dealership. Also, spend as much time on the freeway as possible during the consumption test. I know when I worked at the dealership, we would have claims denied (by Subaru), and then a few days later, SOA customer service would call us and have us Goodwill a repair. So a call to them would certainly be an option. Quick google search turns up 1 (800) 782-2783
  4. Dave we’re in the same time zone finally. Cheers ! Next time I’m heading up and out meaning you’re way and probably OR and WA. Next year we tell ourselves.
  5. News stations act like it's the apocalypse or something because it was 110 yesterday here in Phoenix but that is quite typical for June. They issue special "HEAT ALERTS!" just in case you don't know it's another summer like the last one and the thousands before that. Quite comical really. They make it sound like we should shut down the city and "shelter in place" or something until the heat passes after September ends. Monsoon season is next. That brings in a whole new round of media hype. Ultimately, anything that convinces people not to move here is okay with me, even if it is over-hyped drama about seasonal weather. I got off work at 3:30 PM yesterday, which is the hottest part of the day, and within 10 minutes of getting home I was out working on the DL. Wear sunscreen.
  6. Dunno about the cap issue but try starting with your foot flat to the floor and see if that gets it started. This cuts the injector pulses off during cranking, and if the trick works something is causing a flooded engine event. Cheers Bennie
  7. Smarter yet would be to buy an actual can of freeze spray, which is intended for just this purpose. Electronics suppliers carry it.
  8. Thank you for your concern and good suggestions. I was told I am not the only idiot to do this, so I hope it might help someone else. Yes, copious amounts of water on my front leather seats and underneath, where the Eyesight Module was bolted down. After shop vaccing it, and towels, I did my best to dry it out with no garage and raining outside, again! I got creative and threw a big tarp over top, secured it not too tight and rolled the windows down a bit with a little airspace. Blew the heater full blast for an hour, checking on it. It actually seemed to do a decent job with the carpeting, but under the carpet was a different story. I realized I needed more help. Now I have great news!! Problem solved!! Best decision ever to get professional help. I found a local detailer who pulled out the seats and carpet and gave it a mold remediation treatment, just in case. He even took out the Eyesight module to see if it would dry overnight. He did an amazing job on a holiday weekend and even delivered the car! It is not only showroom clean and dry, with an enzyme treatment to prevent future mold issues, but the best part? No promises, but all the electronics work now!! Eyesight, airbags, everything! He had the right equipment and experience with a great, family attitude. He quoted between $300-400 and went the extra mile for only $350! I thought it would cost thousands to replace and pay a dealership. Now I can cancel my appointment. I feel very blessed and plan to pay him extra.
