Rear Disc Brake Swap??
Need to have the donor be from a 2wd turbo. Everything on the 4WD is the same except the hub and the backing plate are different on the 2WD.

KYB GR2 vs. Stock
edrach replied to PeterD's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXJust for your information, the OEM stock struts are made by KYB; maybe not to the same specs as the GR2's.

KYB GR2 vs. Stock
edrach replied to PeterD's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGR2's were installed on my '91 Legacy wagon at 73K miles by the previous owner. I bought it at 95K and have always liked the ride. Now at 182K the car is still extremely stable. I think much of that is due to the GR2's. Did you pull them off the white '93 at Lynnwood PAP?

Recommendations for Half Shafts??
I too have had better luck with used shafts off a wreck at the PAP yards. Certainly less pain if a $30 axle fails than a $80 re-man. The work is usually worth more than the axle. Good luck with it.

How do you check compression with engine out?
You know that somehow is a default title likely due to my large number of posts. I certainly wouldn't describe myself as that. I'm going to have to think about editing that with something more appropriate.

How do you check compression with engine out?
Thanks for the compliment, but I'm really a pretty inexperienced mechanic. I can do enough to keep myself out of trouble, but I'm certainly not in the same league as qman or Dr. RX or some others on the USMB. They can tell you I'm not afraid to ask for help or info when it's something I've never done before.

How do you check compression with engine out?
Funny, I have the "snout" of a driveshaft from an EA81 tranny so I can use it to keep the oil from running out if I have the driveshaft removed. Someday, I'll cut off the tranny input shaft so I have an alignment tool for centering the clutch disk. Thanks for the feedback.

How do you check compression with engine out?
I'm helping a neighbor replace the clutch on his son's '84 Hatch. We'll have the engine out shortly and he's thinking of doing the headgaskets since the coolent keeps "disappearing." I'm not so sure the head gaskets are bad since the engine looks good externally and seems to run okay and reportedly doesn't (hasn't) overheat. Would an air impact tool on the crank pulley turn the engine over fast enough to check the compression? Or does anyone have a junk mechanical tranny we can cut the bellhousing off so we can re-install the starter motor to check the compression. Or we can just check the compression before we actually pull the transmission? Sorry, answered my own question. Funny how that goes sometime.

Lynnwood PAP Sunday the 7th
- Need a door from west side of WA brought to east side...
AND there were at least two cars I know of heading east today for this weekend's snow rallycross in Spokane.- PAP updates; Lynnwood & Tacoma
I haven't a clue. Sorry.- PAP updates; Lynnwood & Tacoma
Not much new at Lynnwood, just a white '93 Legacy wagon. Tacoma seems to have a lot of EA81, EA82 and Legacies around. I saw a bunch of Pug steelies but didn't get a good look at them. 4 Pug alloys (390's...sorry:mad: ). And bring your wading boots, lots of big deep puddles.- Snow rallycross in Spokane this weekend

This is the same coupe I mentioned in an earlier post. I found the alloy wheels UNDER the car today. Someone must have stashed them there for safe keeping and forgot about them or changed his mind. Anyway, they are 13" inch alloy (Motion type) rims. I couldn't find the centre caps, but they should be inside the car where they usually put things like that when prepping the vehicle. If you want these, get on it soon since this row of cars will be pulled for the crusher by next weekend or sooner. PAP is closed on New Year's Day.- how do you like your CCR engine?
My son bought a CCR engine for his '82 Brat at least 7or 8 years ago. Engine still running fine. Never a problem with it and car & driver won 2 or 3 championships in the truck/SUV class of the ORG rallycross series (using the original carter-weber of all things). Car has been outfitted with a real weber for the last two years.- Snow rallycross in Spokane this weekend
So have you heard if the Jan 6th and 7th events are on? The ASNW website isn't listing any info as yet.- New here
Welcome to the USMB from a former Wilmington (Chalfonte) resident.- boneyards in Seattle
edrach replied to charm's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAmazing. One of these days I'll figure out how that counter works. I've been at 8,999 for the last 10 posts or so!- boneyards in Seattle
edrach replied to charm's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXImprezas just don't show up in the local Pull a Part yards. Your best bet is Spalding Auto Wrecking in Spokane 1-800-366-2070. They do ship UPS. Also, I-5 Auto Wrecking (just off exit 71 of I-5); ask for Jack....he's familiar with the USMB. If you find any, please post with a price; I could use a pair of spares for our wagon in case we're in a similar bind.- Mark your calendars: SubieFest 06
Where's the trailer?- Ej18
edrach replied to njdrsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHere's what came up with a search for EJ18 reiliability (of course it helped that I had replied to it and knew it had to be there): http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67752&highlight=EJ18+reliability- Downloadable service manuals!
Anyone have trouble downloading the EJ22 Service Bulletin zip file? I got everything else EJ22-related but that one won't download for me. Thanks a bunch for the link; looks like great stuff.- Lynnwood PAP update
Nothing much but an '83 Hatch (red and body in excellent condition). Interior is pretty torn up. Sorry, I grabbed the two excellent tail-lights.- Its Here...My New Addition Link to More Pics Last Post
Enjoy it in good health Connie. A fine example.- Snow rallycross in Spokane this weekend
