  1. Last evening I was returning from the Rallycross and just before reaching home (around 9:45pm) I passed a clean, red early GL wagon. I noticed it because it was clean AND because it had the "4" decal on the driver's door post commemorating Mark Lovell's passing last year. This was climbing the hill on I-405 just before my exit to Canyon Park. The driver noticed my Brat and sped up and turned on his interior light; sorry, mine doesn't work so I couldn't return the greeting. So if you are the fellow Subaru person who's also involved in rally, I was hoping to know who I was passing last night. We obviously have something in common.
  2. Fairly successful weekend for the local USMB crew: Unofficially, XSNRG took first in PGT: Lite truck was swept by the 3 brats of 84soob (1st), Jamie (qman's daughter) (2nd), and edrach in third; qman and zap took 2nd and 3rd in Open in Ken's newly finished XT6 powerhouse. That's all I know right now. Weather was as predicted--on and off showers with a virtual monsoon just before the start of the Open class run in the afternoon.
  3. I think some of the advantage might be the ability to mount a rear swaybar while taking the parts needed off a turbo EA82 wagon.
  4. Sorry to hi-jack this, but reminds me of my first Subaru (back when I lived in Delaware). It was a Standard model...a no frills hatch which was my daily commuter. The stars emblem on the dash inside the car (bought new) with the word Subaru was mounted upside-down. So much for Japonese workmanship; I thought it was pretty funny at the time.
  5. Drop me an email at edrach@spamcop.net with the header SWAP MEET in the subject line if you want a spot in the building. I'll check with qman and see how many spots are available; first come first serve. Commercial spots are available also for a small fee.
  6. I vote for a loose castle nut also.
  7. Sounds like they won't need the water truck this time around.
  8. Harbor Freight has some awesome tarps.
  9. So who all is going to the rallycross this weekend? Portlanders: what's the long term weather report for Sunday? And the time leading up to it. It would be nice if the field were waterlogged like last time; no need for the water truck.
  10. If you haven't done it yet, replace the air filter. I think running it hard for two tankfulls of gas will help a lot. Also check for a good connection on the O2 sensor.
  11. If you can persuade another local EA81 car of similar vintage to come visit, it should help figure out the wiring. Good luck with it. The HTKYSA disk is on it's way via 1st class mail; I hope it helps.
  12. As long as the rear ratio (3.700 or 3.900) is matched, they are all the same.
  13. Way to go; I can't wait until next weekend.
  14. Carefully, locate the center with a punch and drill out about 1/2" deep if you can and open up the hole to about 1/8th inch diameter. Soak the bolt remains with liquidwrench or some such and use an "easy out" to try to unscrew it. Most of the time you can save yourself more work this way. If not, you're most of the way to drilling and re-tapping.
  15. Yes I still have it available if it's the right one for you. That being said, considering the labor involved to replace a waterpump on your car, I wouldn't put less than new in your car. Do it the next time you replace the timing belts.
  16. Unfortunately, I've heard things also and they weren't good. I also have never used them.
  17. I second qman's comments; you can't find a better local shop. http://www.smart-service.com/
  18. I'll post a pic this evening.
  19. I was lucky enough to get mine on ebay.
  20. Normally it's not needed but some bearing/axle combos are pretty tight and this just makes the job much easier.
  21. Too late for a floor pit.
  22. Sorry to you all; I finally found it (as you can tell I'm cleaning up my garage). It was hidden away somewhere where I never would have put it. Must have been my wife.
