bheinen74 replied to 97obs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXsoak it, ah the rust belt at its best. hello DOT, might as well pump my car full of bullet holes today, for in a few years, the SALT you put on the roads will just make holes as well.

Rear Brake Caliper Bolt
bheinen74 replied to MNLegacyGT's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXtorch. my 92 SS had a noisy rear caliper, and the bolt is so rusted, that it would be guaranteed to break off upon removal even after soaking it. If it breaks off, lots of hard drilling, and retapping. YOU DO NOT WANT T ORISM BREAKING IT OFF.....so TORCH is the only way when the car is in the salt belt. My 92SS came from MN btw.

Goofy RS Clutch
bheinen74 replied to Durania's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy 92 SS had very similar symptoms, its hydralic clutch too. It squeeked on pushing clutch in sometimes, and letting clutch pedal up after the squee, the pedal seemed to be what i would term "sticky" it would sort of hesitate, stick, release slowly, etc. It did this mostly in the fall getting to colder temps. It kind of went away, fixed itself, I attribute it to moisture? Maybe yours is very similar. Mine did this after a new clutch install, about 5 or 10k after the install. I have 20k now and the problem has not showed up for quite a while. good luck

who holds winning lottery ticket? can has locking rear diff

what say you - 78 brat
do you drive daily in interstate traffic, or at least occasionally? if so, the BRAT is not a good daily driver. 68-73 hp no good for many normal driving roads where the speed limit is above 55mph

Goofy RS Clutch
bheinen74 replied to Durania's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthat would be my approach too, after checking, lubricating the pivots of the clutch pedal, fork area, check the spring is there, and the dust boot cover is not dislodged.

Ac Question
you need a spare tire in the white one.

Rust question
keep your white hood, the green one is worse, it has a hole in it, not surface rust due to chips. open up the green hatch, look for rust on the back side lip where the front sheet metal bends over to the back. Is there any rust, or at least very little on the green one. Swap the green hatch with the white hatch. keep your old lock cylinder from the white hatch.

weld rear diff
this will require lots of Guinness to get me thinking

weld rear diff
somebody should make a "locker" setup, something that can be pushed into the spider gears to lock it, and can be removed to unlock. This device would be on a spring loaded pin system accessed from the side of the case or the rear cover plate. Push the pin in, and it locks the diff. pull the pin outward and its open again. just a thought.

dome light (life of its own)
bheinen74 replied to sleepylegacy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXmy dome light is always on after i give my dogs a car ride. Seems they bump the switch somehow. when you see me driving down the road with it on, its due to dogs. sounds like your door jamb switch needs cleaned or readjusted somehow or replaced. Its the little rubber boot covered button on the door near the hinge i believe.

weld rear diff
the fact that the gas tank is so near, welding sparks a flying, and the fact it will have gear oil there, and the making sure you get all the welding slag and whatnot cleaned out, i would say remove the thing first. You have to make sure there is no little slivers of anything left behind in there.

What is this on the outside of the windshield?
bheinen74 replied to wtdash's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXif this edgeguard company still exists (doubtful) I would make them buy you a new windshield and shove their bull crap old windshield failure up their a hole.

bheinen74 replied to wtdash's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthat could be the nascar windshield with "tear-off" cleaning strip option it could also be the Subaru option of bullet proof glass. To find out, go shoot the window and see.

Does the ea82 use this float needle?
that looks like the float which came in my kit for 85 BRAT. which was the wrong needle and seat for my carb, but we modified it to work on my BRAT.

just lit up my subaru
Subaru gives us 2 lights, so lets make it 10. BRIGHT. All cars should be lit this way, so we can see the Deer and coons, and possums sooner. I would love to go shine that at a particular ex girlfriends front window every so often to piss her off.
