  1. Jordan, looks good. Also looks like your regular OEM headlights are in really good shape. You got in day time pics?
  2. I wondered that for awhile myself, when I took a more in depth look at my Weber setup; I found it to be disconnected and removed it and made for a good tarp weight for the parts Brat.
  3. Go and make sure there is a belt running to your A/C unit for starts. Its under your hood and will be to the right of the alternator. Then we can go from there.
  4. Guess I am just gonna start seeing about finding another hub and rotor assembly. I will give the dust shield a third look sometime this weekend. Thanks guys.
  5. Carfreak85, my thought is that Subaru heard alot of complaints about the standing out look of their STi's when it came to law enforcement officials is my idea for them bringing it back a few dozen notches. Give me an 05 GD STi in blue with gold and I will be set for life.
  6. Ive got almost 218K on motor and tranny. Tranny is slipping a bit but motor still has a ton of life even though it leaks a little oil, hell, don't they all?
  7. Wonder how is it when driving on the highway and the wind hits you from the side.
  8. Bheinen74, I think we should trade Brats. Wish you guys would send the snow my way, we just hammered with tornadoes.
  9. I'll add my bit of misfortune. Took the Brat out Saturday and parked and went into a store. Came back out and there was coolant everywhere, looked to be coming from my Brat. Babied it back home and parked it, am hoping I didn't have a headgasket go bad. That next day, the Legacy starts making a wheel bearing noise. Then I fail my calculus test. I can't win for losing.
  10. Here I go. This is the most snow we have gotten here this year.
  11. Lug nuts are tight. When I started driving the Legacy again, I originally thought this side's wheel bearing was on its way out. That later turned out to be nothing more than a loose axle nut and that fixed all vertical movement. I will have my dad look at it with me on Sunday. This wheel bearing crap drives me nuts, I had just bought one the other day and since I didn't need it I took it back; looks like I will be buying that $80 thing back. Anyone have a hub and rotor with the bearing already in it laying around?
  12. Backwoodsboy, what is the 4WD emblem off of that you got in the grill of that Baja? Gen 1 BRAT?
  13. Upadte: Went for a drive and found that the sound is not as obvious as when turning but when driving straight. Also, I can NOT feel it in the steering wheel.
  14. I at first thought it was a wheel bearing myself but I did the vertical wheel play test and there was no movement. I also thought it might have been a gravel stuck in the tire but there was nothing there as well. Ive never had a bearing be good one second then the next second it make noise, my understanding was they are a gradual thing. I also had the hub off of it about two months ago and bearing looked good, even had adequate grease. CV boots are not busted, could they be going bad on the inside?
  15. Man, they give tickets like crazy here if you park against the curb like the Lexus RX did. I like the color of it man. I would drive the thing for the next 20 years.
  16. Auto, FWD. I can jerk the steering wheel and it will quit for a second and then start right back again. I believe the axle was replaced a long time ago back when my grandmother drove it more; the car is at 217K. The sound just started all of a sudden while I was driving, and my experience with wheel bearings is that it is a gradual process before they make noise. It truly sounds like something hitting, but I know how hard it is to diagnose this crap online. It truly sounds like a brake pad dragging, but not. Thanks guys.
  17. Taking a small trip the other day in my 91, I developed a front end grinding/rubbing sound coming from the front right wheel. The sound comes and goes at times and and it sounds like brakes a rubbing but the sound stays even when brakes are applied, even mashing the pedal doesn't change anything. I at first thought it was brakes so I jacked it up and changed that side, still no change in the sound. I started the car with it jacked up and watched the axle turning while in drive. The only thing that I noticed is that the axle seemed to be a little out of balance, like it was warped only slightly, but I haven't hit anything. Also checked for vertical play in wheel, nice and tight. So it shouldn't be bearings. I know how hard it is to try and diagnose these things online so I gave it a search and couldn't seem to find anybody who had anything described like I have. Let's give it a shot. Kyle
  18. You more EA82 experienced guys think he could have fried the ECU somehow? Another thought: Have you checked all the grounds under the hood?
  19. Thank you Gavin, Mine is the two piece radio where the tape deck is underneath the radio. When I was 16 I bought a nice JVC cd player for it and installed it and kept the tape deck underneath for a clean looking installation and loved it. I believe what I will eventually do whenever I get some money is throw up a wanted ad on the "wanted" forum for another Subaru radio; more likely one with the weather band. That is neat that you got yours' to work but just a few solders. I took a 45 minute drive last night and the display finally come on when I was about 5 minutes from home. Thanks for the input guys.
  20. It involves jacking up the rear of the car and rotating one of the wheels by hand. If the opposite wheel turns in the same direction the one by hand is being turned, then you have a LSD. If it turns in the opposite direction (backwards) then you have an open differential.
  21. If you are having to play with the connections to get it to start; then you should probably replace or clean the battery connections better. Preferably replace. But since they are brand new, then it points back to a bad battery. Buddy, I too was a victim of a bad walmart battery on my hatchback. The day I went to take it back, the guy in front of me had a bad one as well and our build date stickers matched up too.
  22. No it has 108K. The stupid thing broke at 102K. She is trading it in on a forester whenever children start to come into the picture. Thought about taking the door panel off and havinv a look but I haven't a clue on the thing where to start.
  23. What came down to my liking them is having to go to the dealer and drive the 08 WRX hatch. Wanted to drive the sedan but I figured I would have to try it out myself. I loved it after the test drive. I about ran the battery dead talking to my salesman buddy when I realized the lights don't go off with the key anymore. Just waiting on the STi to hit our part of the country and drive it... Thats crazy for the sport grill. I am used to looking at the 84 honeycomb and just handing the guy $20.
