  1. I took some temperature readings with a laser tool today. All units are in the Fahrenheit scale. Taking after 15 minutes of idling with radiator cap off. Outside Temp. 55° Center of radiator-92° Inside of radiator-99° Bottom of radiator-140° Lower Radiator house-136° Water pump-170° Upper radiator hose-135° Thermostat housing where it meets intake manifold-170° 1 & 3 Cylinder head-220° 2 & 4 Cylinder head-193° Heater hose to heater core-169° Heater hose return-116° Air temp coming out of vents-79°
  2. I have been dealing with heating issues all week. Got to thinking about how the car will have a little heat and then a minute or so later will blow cool air, worse when in the "heat" position. Got to thinking that maybe the OEM thermostat is stuck half open and not letting enough coolant circulate back through the system. I ordered another one today and should be here Friday. Thinking will give heater core a good flushing next time I get a chance, with a good nozzle. Buddy has a laser temperature reader and will check things tomorrow when up to "normal" operating temperatures. Opinions?
  3. Here we go again. I personally love the 5 doors, drove the WRX and liked it too. I personally think the sedans look cheap, but still would own one.
  4. Are you taking into account the filters capacity?
  5. Swing by and pick you one up from the parts store. Have fun though, every EA81's headlights I have had to replace have rusty brackets and take forever to get them out.
  6. It is has the optional Fred Flinstone ABS braking system installed. I would still like to know where in the world the jump seats and the tail gate is to the bloody thing, probably 3 towns over in somebody's barn.
  7. It had been sitting under a bunch of trees loaded down with logs since 1993. Only had 65K on it.
  8. Downloaded Rally Mexico the other night, I should be watching it Friday night.
  9. I too am still exhausted and you drove all day. Too bad it was so muddy, I think things would have been better. I still plan on blowing the thing up as soon as we get your motor out.
  10. Connie, he wore the next best thing to that shirt. The "My anger management class pisses me off" one. I have a pic but I don't think it is USMB approved.
  11. Shannon and his wife Ashley came down for my last day of spring break today and turned into an all day Subaru filled tinker fest. Got quite a bit accomplished. Adjusted the Brat's valves, he brought me a battery hold down hook, chrome gas cap, and a bearing assembly for my Legacy. He is buying the hatchback and the motor out of white Brat. He pulled the dash out of my Brat in about 10 minutes, and the heater core in about 5. Learned a lot and was finally glad to meet him in person instead of on the phone all the time. Here is the pics.
  12. That sure is a pretty shifter knob though. Thanks for looking though.
  13. Cool, I always wanted one of them but in a 4 speed for my Brat.
  14. I had the same issue but mine was the cause of a bad mass air flow sensor. You might want to give that a good looking at.
  15. Cool fact of the day right there. Thanks Jerry.
  16. That looks awesome. I am about 5'9" and can really see the desire to do that kind of modification. That back hatch looked to fit perfectly in there. Cool.
  17. Can anything be located on the carb by this picture? The coolant that can be seen on the lower right, that is what I have been battling constantly for the last few months.
  18. I flushed the heater core back in September but I didn't use one of them brass pressure nozzles, it was just the hose stuck to the heater hoses.
  19. GD, if you remember, I just recently replaced the intake gaskets back in October and you haggled with me about the price of gaskets from the dealer. Heater hoses have been replaced, thermostat and gasket has been replaced with OEM. I replaced the stant radiator cap with one off my hatchback that had no issues. Do you know where I can a pic of where at the base of the carb it would be leaking from? When the issue decides to manifest itself, the heat hand will sit at half way and I will have ZERO heat.
  20. Loyale you pretty much hit it right on the head, in this case, any input is good input. I though about putting a little catch jug in where the black vacuum thing is but am unaware if I need it or not with the weber on there. There is two disconnected metal hoses with one running through the firewall. Bratman thinks it has to do with the fuel system and I thought it might have something to do with the vacuum assist brakes. If it doesn't, it would make a good place to put a tub. Kyle
  21. Really considering selling the Brat. I am about ready to get out from under the thing. Ready for something with more power and could trust to drive me to hell and back. Legacy developed an oil issue today on the way back from the test drive. I think it is time in my Subaru addiction to quit accumulating old ones and get one or two good ones.
  22. I just feel that I could have done better. I love a two door car so I am leaning toward a 2.5RS.
  23. Does this sound like a text book heater core issue to the rest of you all?
  24. I just don't know if I am liking it or not. Granted it is a two door, it is still an L model. I am thinking it is about time to sell Brat and probably end up throwing down on a 2.5RS two door.
  25. Here is the pictures from today. The clutch doesnt release to the very top, I assume that is a good thing. Will have the pillar touched up so it is not so obvious. The mileage is actually 129,000. Keyless entry and everything. http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s308/durania717/
