Wobbly OBW
subyfreak replied to jarl's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAlso check the cross-member to body mounting area. I have had a 1st gen legacy that had 3 out of the 4 bolt holes rusted away even though the body was not really rusty at all. It had a very floaty feeling. Swapped out the cross-member and put another 100,000 on it.

seat opinions needed
subyfreak replied to kona's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have a 01 Outback with the LL Bean package and hate the leather seats. Any seat time over a couple hours becomes a pain in the rump roast and back. Never been a fan of leather but I wanted the H-6.

My '85 GL-10
The more I look at this the more amazed by it. Even the plastic bits look new. I would love to see some interior and under hood pics. Thanks for showing such a great example.

86 3door Runabout:FWD<FT4WD, 4 lug<5lug, EA82 carb<EJ22 or ER27 swap, rust removal
Great build thread! I would be happy to have my 3 door look half this good some day. The spoiler on mine is all sun baked and cracked. Any advice on what to use to fix it?

EA guy looking at used 1st gen Legacy wagon, what should I be looking for?
subyfreak replied to Dogbone's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCheck the rear crossmember at the mounting points I have had two first gens get pretty rusty there. Other than that it would be hard to find a better car new or old.

Where is the PCV valve on the EZ30?
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLast time I went to the local Napa up here the guys behind the counter tried telling me that my car was only available with the 2.5 and my car had an engine swap done to get the H6 lol. That store has since closed. I will give my pcv a good cleaning before buying a new one. Thanks for the info.

Where is the PCV valve on the EZ30?
I have noticed some oil in the intake box by the throttle body and figure it could be caused by a plugged pcv valve. I have no idea where and how many valves there are on this engine. Any body have a picture of where they are? Thanks in advance. Oh and another thing not related. I need a TPS for a 01 Outback Beener edition if any one knows where I can score a used one.

To Many Projects
I hear you. Only I have the other problem of plenty of time and no money. It is enough to drive a man crazy. Wish me luck as this 32yr old man heads down to Burger King for an application.

In progress
Those wheels do look great. Are they toyota wheels? I also like the body colored mirrors and spoiler.

Vavle Cover Gaskets 91 2.2
subyfreak replied to rweddy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI did the vc gaskets on my 91 EJ22T and found it quite simple. No special tools needed. I used the pretty blue felpro gaskets for the extra bling points oh and they seal well on every other application I have used them on.

subyfreak replied to bratman18's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGlad to hear everything turned out ok. I am dreading the H6 sparkplug change coming soon to a garage near me.

UPDATE 7/24: Brat Rebuild Progress: 15" Alloy Refinishing & Tires
I have the same wheels but have some light corrosion on them. How bad were yours before soda blasting? I can't really tell in the before pictures. I really like the color you chose for yours.

??? for the down under crew (blitzen stuff)
subyfreak replied to zukiru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI am quite the fan of the B4 Legacys. It is a shame they were not available in the states. Sure the styling of the spoiler is a bit different but different is what I like about most subarus to begin with.

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPulling the pump assembly was cake work. I was at first a little intimidated with the idea at first from past non subaru fuel pump jobs but after digging into it I was surprised with how easy the whole thing comes out. As for the problem it looked like some one was in there before and was a little rough with putting the cap on and caused a hairline crack that over time got bigger until the cap partially came off. I still am unsure what the part is for but it was obvious some thing was not right.

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell after pulling the pump assembly I noticed a round metal cap about 2.5 in dia. with a rubber o-ring not seated properly. One of the metal tabs had a crack in it and kept it from sealing. After brazing the crack and putting it all back together it fired right up. Total cost was a $60 tow. Took it for a bit of a drive and it performed perfectly. Thanks again to everyone that helped me trouble shoot this otherwise expensive problem.

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXagain nipper thanks for your 2 cents. you seem to have been around the Subaru block a few times and give good advice. All I want is to get it running long enough to make it home. Like I said earlier I have limited funds until next Tuesday when if needed I can go all out and get a complete genuine gold plated fuel pump assembly:grin:. Bonus is when I pull the assembly from the donor car I can get a feel in what is involved and I have been itching to go visit that last chance parking lot better known as a scrap yard all winter. I will be back to let you guys know how it all works out.

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDid some digging online over at subaruoutback.org and found that 01 H6 was a popular year for fuel related failure. Found three different posts with pretty much the same symptoms and resulting dealer visit. Any other 00-04 H6 owners have fuel pump/ pump assemby problems?

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have a couple of salvage yards at my disposal with plenty of 00-04 outbacks/legacys. Unlikely I will find another H6 but plenty of 4cyl models. The pump assembly should be the same right? You guys know what I am getting at. Well what would you do in this situation? Remember that I have about $250 to fix the car and get me and the wife home. Every opinion will be looked over and appreciated. You guys are like my online AAA Ok looks like the part number for the H6 and 2.5 of the same year have different part numbers from autozone. : ( Anyone know different? I sure could save some money if they are compatible.

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGrossgary, The car has been daily driven since purchased last August. Filled the gas tank about 120 miles ago yesterday. So the gas has not been sitting for a long time. Nipper, I figured I will not be able to run it very long with that line pinched off but will deffinetly help me buy the right parts.

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks Nipper I will give that a try before I pull anything. If after I crimp off the car runs it means bad regulator right?

Help with fuel delivery problem 01 Outback H6
subyfreak replied to subyfreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks guys for the advice. I will pull the fuel assembly tomorrow morning and check the sock for crud. The only pump I could find is at Autozone for a little over one hundred dollars but it is only the pump not the complete assembly. I can get the whole assembly shipped in about 3 days for over $300. I am limited on money until next Tuesday so the $100 pump looks like my only option right now. Feel free to chime in about anything else to check.
