  1. Years ago I tried various methods of tinting tail lights and the best results I had were with Rustoleium Gloss black. Apply a couple of coats and then use some rubbing compound and rub the s#it out of it until you get the right thickness and shine you want. Just make they are bright enough for day time use as they wont look good in a million pieces on the road.
  2. Thats how I have gotten my last 3 older Subarus. Always just minor stuff like ball joints broken axles or minor body damage. I always get my moneys worth out of them + it's fun to bring one back from the dead.
  3. if the 86 or 88 are 3dr coupes I really could use the tail lights. Regardless to what body style thanks for trying to save some good parts.
  4. +1 on the H6. I have a 01 obw beaner edition and really like the engine. Check the seals around the sunroofs for cracking. being a southern car they are subjected to sun+heat and often don't get any care. Don't let it being a southern car jack the price. Mine is from Mid Ohio and has lived in Michigan it's whole 150000 miles and still no rust.
  5. I have a 01 LL Beaner OB and the seats are not good for long trips as they are on the firm side+ I don't like the leather. I had a 91ss and it did have some comfy seats.
  6. Looks nice. The red with black wheels do look good but as you said that shifter needs to go. I would have un threaded it going down the road and tossed it out the window. If the muffler is in good shape I would be interested in buying it when you get another one.
  7. I have been told that a 80s-90s Ford F-150 fuel pump will work but I just can not bring my self to put a Ford part on my far superior machine. Worth a look though as there are a hundred Fords for every one Subaru in the scrap yards.
  8. Very nice find for $100. I really miss my 91ss. Please don't tell me it's a 5sp as I am all ready jealous:slobber:.
  9. Wonder if it comes with a foldgers can for a muffler. I know it has NOS too. What a waste.
  10. I also want to see some lifted new gen Subarus. I really want to know how my 01 Outback would look with some added lift.
  11. Congrats on the new family member. Subarus are getting quite popular in my area and the prices are starting to follow. $250 is less than scrap value here.
  12. Really like the setup on your brat. Wish I had a answer to your problem. I had the same problem and just ran new wires, relay and rocker switch to get my highs working. I know it's the lazy way but I wanted to make sure the 100wt bulbs got all of the power they needed without cooking the factory wiring.
  13. On my 01 OBW H-6 150000mi so far with no major problems except a leaking power steering pump. This engine really wakes up from about 4500-redline and sounds great with a free flowing muffler. Says premium fuel only on the gas door so thats what she gets. I usually get around 25-27mpg on the highway. Also lots of fun in the snow with it's limited slip diff standard in the H-6 OB from what I have seen. Nicest car I have owned and I have owned many.
  14. You could be a spokesperson for Subaru durability. Kind of like Jared and Subway lol. Think of the sponsorship benefits that would get you. A new Subaru every year for life.
  15. If the tail lights are still good and will fit a 3dr anybody know? I would love to have them before the crusher gets them. Hang in there. You will find one eventually.
  16. I don't think Subaru will make a new brat anytime soon:( they don't even offer a 2dr car anymore. The Baja was a sales bomb and even though they are kind of neat sales numbers are what keep cars around the dealerships. Some really good cars have been killed off because of this.
  17. +1 on the relay. You will burn up the switch eventually with out one. As a bonus Your lights will be brighter with a relay.
  18. Let Me know if any of you guys are heading up here for the Lake Superior Performance Rally in October. I live right in the middle of it and there are tons of Subarus everywhere. It's worth the drive if You enjoy the sight, sound, and smell of Subarus running all out on race fuel. Check Rally America for exact dates in October.
  19. I have been running a duralast gold dual terminal battery for about 6 years now with no problems even with the cold upper Michigan winters. It came with a now expired roadside assistance card for free jump starts and cost about 60 dollars.
  20. I was originally from the Traverse City area but now live north of Houghton in copper country.
  21. I would drop a battery in the 2dr hatch and see if it starts. If it runs and moves it would be a good project as it looks pretty much all there. Yes it would be a turd but that ea81 is almost unstoppable. You can always put a ej22 engine in it later for more power. The GL10 has been picked through and people are not usually gentle when removing parts at the salvage yards so you would have to fix and replace cut wires/hoses and possibly other headaches. I have saved two subarus from the crusher and it is a great way to learn about cars and rewarding when you get them drivable again. Whatever you choose to do I wish you luck.
  22. Sad news but sounds like WRC is just as much to blame as the economy. At least we still have Rally America here in the states. For now anyways.
  23. Our Subarus really shine when the snow starts falling. I would go through withdraw symptoms with out one.
  24. sub woofer should be under drivers seat on your car. You can see it by putting that seat all the way forward and looking on the rear passenger floor.
  25. Sounds like a great find. Congrats. Keep it or You will regret selling it later.
