  1. 42 kg for EA81 dual range four speed up to 56 kg EA82 DR 5 MT
  2. When I mentioned to machine shop guy can't get these pistons anymore he checked his supplier whose response was " send them to me if they need pistons" 43 sets !
  3. It is 2018 isn't it? This post started a year ago and OP never been back. I like DaveT honesty in.EEJ swap being a lot of work
  4. Only taken two weeks and an enquiry to find out now that neither left nor right EA81 door handle covers in tan are available from subaruSubaru parts depot. I have an order going to be a bit light on...
  5. I got my little efi hardware universal TPS in the mail today It uses white as power supply 5V (+) red for signal to ECU and black as GND I need to make up a bracket to hold its 36.5mm centres mounting before testing without fiddling and fumbling Hope I get more that 0.5V range out of it Curious to know your Voltage range results from closed to fully open Gannon Now waiting on a waterproof 3 pin loom plug...at least I know what wires I need to feed into the engine bay now. I salvaged 99Impreza shielded cable for the TPS to "GASECU" seeing as though could not find previously carefully reclaimed and hoarded shielded collection :)
  6. Would help if we knew what is wrong if anything. We all have loose wires, especially former owners son who sounds like he needs fixing first!
  7. Right, thanks Dave. I wonder if I tested the wrong way I tested and got a result, but not using the gnd terminal of the TPS. I grounded the TPS gnd terminal and dmm ground lead went to gnd as well Read the 5.0 V supplied and only saw it drop 0.5V on two different units. Both units tested as per manual resistance specs. Both had higher reading closed throttle In my case there is no true ECU as it is an enrichment device for propane. Propane system without this control will run quite well but need to lean it off a bit to let enrichment device do its work It comes with basic instructions but now have more info on it, in that it needs to see pot readings for enrichment over riding O2 which I think will trim things on cruise
  8. If anyone has installed aftermarket computers to EA81T or EA82 stuff... Did it like TPSensor or TPSwitch output or not even use it? I have found EA82 TPSensors start as high 5V for idle and only drop 0.5 V to ~ 4.4 - 4.5V Whereasit appears more modern TPS has an industry standard of 0.5V for idle up to 4.5-4.8V for full throttle So, makes me wonder if aftermarket ECUs needed a different TPS for best results ¿?????????????
  9. Mate, memeories fade over time. Lucky Subaru stuck with I think same ECU pin numbers and wire colours for these over the changes. Black is ECU supplied GND White is ECU supplied 5V Red takes result signal to ECU BUT my round pot. plug differs from 87 manuals ! It delivers a reduction of only 0.4V from closed to fully open 88 lineal plug as in your pic above unit does 0.5 reduction These all have the higher reading closed and drops as throttle opens I have to check with designer and manufacturer of fuel adjuster if it can handle such small changes The TPS pot. checks fine to specs in factory books but may be too old for new millennium
  10. Fading memory...so was just adding a heated narrow band. Was reading wideband use 2 input to ECU wires instead of one so was trying work out how you did it. Now I know, and it was just constant IGN supply to heat O2 up not some ECU power regulation then. Good. I only ordered single wire O2 sensor OEM Bosch. My processor holds back on its job until O2 is heated and sending its tiny Voltages Tuning device for tail pipe is wideband and has fuel type select switch for petrol, Diesel, alcohol, LPG and lambda so all good on that front
  11. I recall Mr ausubaru92 doing a wideband upgrade from a narrowband O2 sensor upgrade on his EA82T Wagon Wondering if the ECU is really made to cope with a widebands' input and deliver improvements Just reading some wiki ? on O2 sensors and something sort of suggests the two are not compatible. Not that I use an ECU mind, but a similar fuelling device for my propane is getting install attention at the moment and it uses an O2 signal. I am happy not to use a heated O2 for its heated wires or two wire output Must be coincidental that my LED O2 reader bar is reading lean ever since I replaced water pump and retensioned timing belts while in there. Maybe I introduced an air leak somewhere to the fuel mix ? Something lurking in the back of my mind is when I installed a wideband sensor normally for tailpipe emissions tuning, I screwed it in just at the back of the turbo - upstream of the cat - I got wicked all over the place readings on the tuner. This is same place I will be using the device source of O2 readout. Guess it was OK when it ran wet fuel. Be a case of suck it and see - and share results and any subsequent headaches that may follow
  12. Rosebank. Need to google that! When you say need to resell a WRX, what model? I have GF8 99 rolling shell
  13. First EA82T? You ain't the only one to snap them just by looking at them!
  14. OK been in printed Subaru manual heaven and found the triangular pattern three pin round pigtail plug off the three pin TPS is a1987 EA82 mpfi Also found the three pins lineal in near oval flatter style pigtail plug is after...in my excitement forgot if it was 1988 or 1989 manuals Need to study my photos to confirm which wire takes the 5V and returns signal Voltage to ECU Under the one project to completion at a time theory need to finish this before EJ20 pinout for AUDM Impreza
  15. Bindiesel , good use of search function. Can you confirm your heads? Not SUB4 heads and roller rockers n stuff?
  16. Not that I have seen an EA81T in the flesh I think the first series EA82T dizzy is an EA81T dizzy in an EA82 dizzy shell This engine parts combo sounds like the EA81 I was digging up with EA82T exhaust, turbo and EA82 SPFI ...ended up selling base engine before finishing So another one wanting to see pics of horse and heart and oil supply line to turbo, but let's get it snorting first
  17. Remove it, go on, someone has to be the guinea pig. Can you edit your original post to include the fact wire does not go directly to earth, but through radio interference suppressor I think you will find it is Possibly looks like an add on as I think radios were a dealer fitted option so suppressor would have been also added with radio install
  18. Dejavu? Feel like I have read this before? Firing order of ea81 is 1 3 2 4 Go back to basics All plugs out Feel for compression on number one Look at flywheel here to see TDC marks Turn to timing mark is it 20°? If you using EA82 stuff. Shoot is it a turbo dizzy at all? Then fit dist so rotors left side of contact point is about to contact with terminal inside cap if rotor turns anti clock normally
  19. WWW.peelinstruments.com.auPrettyy certain their CP401GAS LBL lean bias logic microprocessor controlled emission air/fuel ratio controller for American systems to suit air valve type system is NOT on website but you may find info elsewhere on the web. Did you mean if I don't need idle switch? OK so the sweeping sensor type can be wired in reverse to alter clock turn direction info? This unit CP401 uses an O2 input and TPSensor tap so the Series one TPSwitch will not work. Lucky I found various Series Two TPSensors to suit the flat manifold throttle body No ECU in the ute, and TPSensor works on ECU supplied 5V andI don't intend to fry my $400 CP401 by giving it 12V ! Whe it expects 5V or less from TPSensor Is a simple waterproof eBay purchase Has four wires. 12V + 12V - 5V + and 5V - I have found I can join the two earths to earth to body, shove 12V in and the 5,V out gives 5.1 V Trying to work out bestlocations under dash and get wiring through firewall and bits without looking g untidys
  20. Sorry, meant it is not the drivers side in my neck of the woods. Our Australian dealers source from japan if needed. Neither part is available to us, no matter what colour or side. Sorry, you are another victim of my writing style
  21. Diagram is pretty thanks but the way Subaru change some things subtley I would not trust it with electrickery going through it to fry my little piece of Mornington Peninsula design. Heck they started labelling these pins with letters, now it's numbers?! Maybe to indicate different rotation of throttle which started with the spider
  22. Several reasons why I want to sort this tps need is to satisfy engineer or authorities that it is all working to Euro 3 or 4 spec when EA82T finally goes into dedicated propane only fuelled ute Second reason isI have two different sized Impco systems. The smaller capacity is right on the sweet spot for 1800 cc flat four in non turbo I ran the turbo on larger capacity set up just fine, sweet and dandy thankyou very much but it had odd. characteristics if I really tried to race it. Hoping O2 sensor control will resolve this ad well as authorities To run larger capacity gear on my EA82Mongrel it had lean bogs down low and WICKED performance from 5000 to 6500 If this lean bias logic can resolve lean bogs using larger capacity system in NA...I will hurt my face smilingi
  23. Lucky for you it lasted this long and you found new on amazon. I got mine from EA82 carby model for my flat manifold GLTA built in '85....12 years ago. Depending on which country the egr solenoid only activated by ECU below 45 kph and only then at operating temp and of course only with manifold vacuum. This wasfirst and only fault code I got to read and fix on that car
  24. Thanks for even more detail. While you were busy doing that I checked my daily driver...it has the.round plug off the TPS side ...hehere's me wearing it out all these years - it is not been required for basic old propane. The round plug with pins in triangular arrangement also has red, black and white wires. Also on 20 k Ohmscale between black and white wires about 10,000 Ohms gradually drops to 2300 pprogressively as I open throttle to fully open. Wow...never had to test.a tps until now. I can use this for my pre-turbo engine install to get enrichener in and happy. Noticed last night my O2 reader not getting signal. Step one...fix this ! Endless ain't it? Bottom line isI don't need to try find alternative TPS to suit 8 mm D shaft....been lurking in my shed all this time
  25. Mate, here in Oz 2006 i priced Series 1 knock sensor A$745. Rock had one this yesr US$196 but got genuine from parts depot USD 145 ! We are now seeing alloy radiatorx On ebay about $600 they were 120 to 160 until our Gov added gst.to our small overdeas Buys
