  1. Another option is to convert your hubs to 6 lugs. That's what I'm planning. I'm just looking for the wheels I want.
  2. I've located an RX with a full-time 4wd 5spd d/r trans. I'm thinking this would be a nice addition to my project car to help get the power to the ground. Exactly how does the full-time trans work? Am I going to need any other parts? Thanks.
  3. If you intend to go off road, the dual range is far superior. Swapping it out would involve some work, but it can be done.
  4. You have a front differential and a rear differential, but there is no differential between the front and the rear. That means that the front and rear differential need to turn at the same speed. The most likely cause of your problem is binding due to different tire sizes. Someone may have also replaced your transmission, or possibly rear differential, with one out of a non-turbo model. They have different gear ratios; the turbo is 3.7:1 and the non-turbo 3.9:1.
  5. You might want to contact your local fire department and emergency room before you pull a plug on an engine that's running.
  6. Looking nice isn't always the same as working nice.
  7. It DOES matter whether or not you have a turbo. The clutches are different and the input shaft on the transmission has a different spline count. I think I found a pretty good price at http://www.thepartsbin.com, but I can't remember how much it was. Seems like around $150 for the kit.
  8. I highly recommend use of rubber or plastic grommets where the wires go through the door and door frame.
  9. Have you checked the voltage at the connector that hooks on to the electric motor? If you've tried three motors and three switches, it sounds like a bad wire or connector.
  10. It sounds like both are aftermarket systems, so it really depends on the wiring job done by whoever installed them. With luck you might find they use the same harness.
  11. What's the condition of the rest of the car? If it's worth keeping, I'd find a motor for it. You could go the JDM route for 600 or 700 bucks (I saw one on ebay for 399) but you can probably find a good one locally for a lot less. They're not hard to replace.
  12. Here's a link someone posted a while ago in the offroad forum: http://www.toyo.com.au/PCRPDFs/720F.pdf I have no idea on cost.
  13. About the only thing I could find are snow tires. That's a big part of the reason I'm scouring the junkyards to find a set of 6 lug wheels to put on mine.
  14. Thanks. That's very generous of you. I'm going to look at one locally here tomorrow, but if that does't work, I might be getting back to you.
  15. The glass is attached to a plastic bracket with an epoxy type glue. The bracket is then attached to the regulator mechanism with 6mm (10mm head) bolt. It sounds like either of those have come loose. Just pull the door panel and take a look. It should be pretty obvious. You're going to need to get the window crank handle off to pull the door panel. To do that, take a piece of mechanic's wire or a coat hanger and make a sharp bend in it. Cut it off right after the bend, so that you have a small hook on the end. You can use that to pull the C clip off of the crank handle.
  16. The one that's in Orem is a yellow hatch. I'll see if I can snap some pics and post them.
  17. It's a JDM. So, if I understand correctly, the ECM does need a VSS, but 87 and later EA82s have a VSS that will work?
  18. Thanks. I'll probably be sending you some questions in the near future.
  19. Glad to help. Good luck and enjoy your Soob.
  20. Not currently planning on a lift, but it's a possibility in the future. I plan on no bigger than 27 inches total tire diameter, so I'll get some extra height without the lift. So who has the lifted Subaru in Utah? There's an older Subaru in Orem that looks like it's lifted. BTW, I've been meaning to ask you about your SubaruHummer. Did you fabricate that? It looks pretty cool.
  21. If you do the work, a HG is going to cost around $110 for the set from the parts bin, for example. You might also need to do some reconditioning on the heads. My local machine shop charges about $140 to do a set of Subaru heads. A used engine is going to cost whatever you can find one for. Sometimes you can find a donor car cheaper than you can buy an engine from a wrecking yard. Used JDM engines are typically $600-800 for NA applications. If you have a manual transmission, you might also want to change the clutch while you've got the engine out.
