make your 360 unsiezeable
moosens replied to 2stroketurbo's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Good common sense info , thanks Mark. I've been looking for an RD to play around with and might be taking one in really soon if I can leave enough space in storage. I've owned 2strokes before but never had any seizure issues. (Puch and Bridgestone) ...just thought of something .. the Puch was the "twingle" and B'stone had chrome bore cylinders so that's probably why they never seemed too tight. -

Rarest Old-School Subaru Part or Option?
moosens replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Loyale - that's just a shield found in most cold weather Subarus from '79 - '84 + here in the States. I actually have NEW from the 70's "Cold Weather Kit" which has that shield in it among other items so carbs/intake perform better when the tempature goes to freezing. Probably very rare down your way. Was that a car from a cold weather region? Also used to keep water off the disty all around. Rares options ? hmmm ..... wood steering wheel from the early 70's? -
94 SPFI Loyale runs rough when cold
moosens replied to sushisan87's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That boxy cover thing that sits over the SPFI throttle body. Duct goes to the air cleaner/filter box with the MAF along the way. Not that its a huge matter of importance here and now but cleaning that MAF doesn't hurt. Check those sensors and their connections. -

Whats the value of my Gl10 Wagon?
moosens replied to aaronxs400's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Realx kid , don't take my comment personally , and WA just started using the crap recently accoring to about several thousand people here. aaron , does the driver's side door panel still have the warning sticker on it? Show us the pedals and carpet around it. Some signs of low mileage are very obvious. -

Don't sweat the crappy opinions. I've owned a couple true to life "old lady" cars. What you will find now still showing up are just that. Typically FWD automatic 1.8 anywhere from the mid 70's thru the 80's. Same situation here. One of our cars had only 32K when we bought it around 2000/2001 but it had the typical rust/rot where Subaru used foam strips at the underside of the fender tops against the upper supports. Also had one minor hole on the passenger side front wheel arch. But it was a legit. 32K car. No doubt that old lady had to use it occassionally in the winter. Maybe was parked outside for the last 10+ years too. All sorts of probabilities that'd make it look like the other guy's wagon with 130k who lives in a different climate than you and I do. Good luck. It's pretty tempting , for my wife's ride , not mine. -
That's encouraging! Thanks for your help! Were there any revisions to the 1300 for fuel intake or were they carbureted right up to the end of production? So the EA63 is really a 1300? From previous research by other members I thought they said the EA64 was a dual carb'd 1400 from non USA markets. To me it makes sense that they dropped the 1400 and continued with the more reliable 1300.

Hello at all USMB users from Italy
moosens replied to -J.M.G.-'s topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Ducati country! Do the older Subarus exist at all anymore? A few? None? Just curious how they survive in Italy. I have a couple of Ducati singles , 1966 Monza and '66 Sebring. How is your region for old Ducatis and parts? My father's families are from the Lago di Garda/Verona region. CIAO !!! .... e Boun Natale! -
What about a 1400 from somewhere else on the planet? They made those engines way past what we got here in the USA. Does a 1400 SPFI exist already in some place like Isreal ? I know I do still want to make a 1600 SPFI someday and was wondering the same about those. I'd guess those are still running somewhere (1600's) with SPFI , I hope. EJ 1.6 ??? mmmmm , that'd be nice!

Gen 1 brat chrome tray trim
moosens replied to 78STI's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I'll try to get an estimate but will probably need to wait untill after the holidays. -
Drain that intake and all using the large Allen head plug underside the passenger side before removing the intake. Let is drain good. Then you can more easily inspect the intake gasket.

Gen 1 brat chrome tray trim
moosens replied to 78STI's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I'd gladly hook you up with a full set , maybe less the tailgate piece. Outside chance I may still have a good tailgate piece. "ctsuba" has that tailgate piece , I'm dead sure of that. Do you need the corners too? I've got those too. Feel free to do a walk around of your Brat and give me a list. Between myself and ctsuba we have just about anything you'll need for those. Long distance and large package for those trim pieces but I'd be happy to send if you (and I if I have time) research shipping and get the lowest possible. Measure the longest piece and figure a couple more inches. "drivesubies" has a good amount of NOS if you're interested in perfect parts. I've yet to hear of him having that trim , but hey if he does its going to be the best on the planet so expect to pay well. -
ea82 turbo power; is it possible???
moosens replied to soobie_newbie67's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Forget more power from that turbo. Sounds like you could do well with a simple JDM replacement engine which is what I just did on my now former turbo wagon. Hang in there. I heard they're going to set up GD for a big accident soon anyways. -

Watching from way over here ..... hey , that 5spd in the lady's yard , is that an FE ? Or a GF ? FE drivetrains get great gas mileage.

Confirming front diff gear ratios?
moosens replied to ghost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Rob, as stated , its a 3.90 front and a 3.70 in the rear. You need to swap the rear diff I gave you. These guys weren't the ones dealing with it so trust me,please. Throw out that chart and all .... it's a single range elect. operated 4WD which came in both 25 spline for turbo and 23 spline for N/A cars. My Factory Parts Manual will show you my info is correct. That was Charlie that test drove it for a few second over gravel. Didn't have time to bind nor the solid traction so no worries on either end. Talk to you soon. -
Build thread for 77 Leone Wagon 4X4
moosens replied to oleman77's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
All those carbs are about the same from the base. Variations exist after the 70's. All these kits and they all vary slightly. We'll get it sorted out.
