Build thread for 77 Leone Wagon 4X4
moosens replied to oleman77's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Glad you're not lifting it actually. I just put "Build" and "lift" together. Lots of that going on as you'll notice in other forums. Tail light and turn signal complete , I have both sitting right here. I have some carb. rebuild kits too , but I'm trying to figure out what a couple of them go to for sure. You'll notice those somewhere in the Parts For Sale Forum. Pics included. I'll be digging up more carb kits I'm pretty sure , and am pretty sure there's the late 70's 1600 version in there. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=116562&highlight=carb+rebuild You might have a spider web in the "blow back" or whatever its called .... don't mind me I'm pretty hurtin right now ....its called the fuel seperator or something like that , sits in the rear quarter well , green hose I think....Sounds hokey but what I'm getting at is blow out all those lines. Yes , I realize your real problem is varnished old gas. This car I'm working on now might have a good tank for you. I know for sure it has a really nice fuel feed tube. This guy really took care of this wagon ,aircraft engineer , very cool guy , one of us. He went out of his way to hit yards all over for parts for this car way back when. If I fail to keep track here you're welcome to contact me , Paul , at moosens at yahoo dot com. Cheers! -

My kind of guy. You'll want just good used parts fairly cheap , so you'll likely reap the benefits of my cleaning storage and blowing out old stock. Do a walk around and make a list. I've got tail lights - Earl ,you'll get yours too - and all sorts of bits. Lift kits you'll find from a couple guys here , I'm pretty sure. That is if that's what you mean by "build". If you want to make it a street looker I've got fenders and one of us has a hatch I'm sure. Plenty of glass and I might have a windshild gasket too. I've got a '78 4WD wagon. Very precious to me. -
Hello at all USMB users from Italy
moosens replied to -J.M.G.-'s topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Ciao Jacopo! What year did Subaru begin to sell in Italia? What region are you in? Nice STi ! -
Don't forget to get a good set of tires. Car sat way too long so I expect the gas gauge float ,etc. are gummed up somewhat. Charge light , probably needs an alternator. I know I swapped on in recently. Maybe it wasn't that good. Oil pressure - bothered me too but I always had pressure when I pressed tha gas pedal. I did replace at least the pump gaskets if not the whole pump. Heat - refer to that manual in the glove box. Plenty of those control units out there. I know I had extras but "ctsuba" should have all that stuff now. Buttons can be removed and replaced. Enjoy!

Welcome Rob! Windshield frame , don't neglect that. And make sure water drains out !!! Every corner , what goes under the cowl , etc. etc ..... Spray it with oil if you want to just sustain its condition untill a springtime reconditioning. Really hoping to see this car and my former '74 at Carlisle this year. You guys are carrying my torches. We get Danny Williams there too and its going to be a "vintage get down" ! Hot dang!

...and a Q about fuses -25A "lights" to be exact
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Hi Pat. Thanks , I'll spend some time on it ..... ???? soon I hope. But most likely I'll suffer thru the winter with the overload already presented in the form of storage. -

Yes , that sounds exactly right. Unless you took the fuse out and pulled on the endcap you'd probably never know it was blown. -

Sounds good , thanks! I have noticed it gets super hot , especially the lower two fuses it seems. Could use brighter bulbs too. -

No sweat ... hey check these out. Amazing , eh? Who'd have thought there were Fuji fuses. They all check out OK. -
If you guys would do a little favor and flip over some rocks and tree branches (the ones on the ground) and locate a lizard - and catch it , I'll gladly meet up with you guys later in the evening or Sunday and pay you some cash for your help. We had a death in the pet family yesterday , and that little sucker was so damn cool. Smallest one we've ever seen , caught it in August down in the Pinelands , over by the spot Neo knows well , where there's a pond with usually very blue water from high calcium or something like that. Not far from the former "All We'll Drive" location. I'm really hoping to get down there but I've got so much work to do with storage and my home its unlikely. The little critters are going into their dormant stage now so you might see one motionless and turning black-ish if you do see one. Of course , you guys are probably leaving now ... wake up Nip!!!

I'm pretty sure I have one (definitely) or maybe two aluminumn radiators for those EA82 cars. Probably a few parts too , but I did send lots of stuff to "ctsuba" who also has tons of cars and parts to offer. Is that a 2 or 4 headlight nose? Also have those. I like those car ,although you'll hear plenty of people say they stink and lack power ,etc. SPFI , I hope. Some '87's do still have carbs , which can be made to SPFI with the harness ,etc. If it weren't for the '87 turbo wagon I still have I'd have put all that 80's stuff behind me to focus on 70's and 2.2 daily drivers. Also have alloys too , and again "ctsuba" has TONS of parts for these cars. Good luck with it. White wagons are my fav. Cheers!

Always a good thing when you can contribute a few bucks to this board. Fund raising season elsewhere. Not a bad time to shake the tree around here either. You get a lot from this board , don't you? Toss a coin in the fountain. -

I hear ya , and I do have some other well known brand fuses that I've used in my car too. They're all otherwise ok for being around 10 -32 years old. -
have fun , see you in the future .... too much work to do here.

Oh , ok , thanks. So then which brand name should I be using? I wish I could post a pic of them because they're Subaru issued from the 70's. -

Which "Marion" are you in? North Carolina? I can sell one to you for $70 plus around $25 shipping. Already have an extra and just today I went to look at a parts car with a very nice rad. in it. Never heard of anyone using another make but that's not entirely impossible , just going to be some sort of effort involved. -
Looking like the '78 or going FWD in the '92 *IF* we make it. Priority is storage. Hoping for a great weekend effort.

You mean the Y-pipe up front , right? I've got one with the pipe-to-head flanges turned 90 deg. if you're interested. Would be a bear to ship but could be done for probably under $40. I'd like to get $150 for the pipe since its getting super hard to find and still has plenty of life left in it. With the flanges turned you get to use the holes that were never used previously so that's a plus. But the inner studs are dang close to the engine mounts and need to be carefully inserted ,possibly with the engine slightly lifted. Or maybe need to keep the mounts loose untill the Y-pipe is on. The stud itself will clear , but the nut hits the mount with the engine seated inplace. I was just about to go thru all that when I decided to stick with my original pipe and just Helicoil the old holes. This pipe also has the "stove pipe" on the passenger side which your carb warmer tubing goes onto. "ctsuba" might have a 1600 Y-pipe to offer as well. He's also in CT -
