Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
Sort of surprised that you haven't cracked open the books and gotten some answers on your own. Do you need a parts manual? I'm not sure, but I thought you said you had gotten service and parts manuals....too lazy to look back right now. I can scan whatever you need if I don't have a double.Pretty sure I have only one. As has already been mentioned, these cars are light. The 1100 won't blow doors but it'll deliver what you need.

Meet at Colchester CT SCORE!!!!!!!!
Must have been tose cretins with the Maxima that got Roy(the owner) pissed. Who were those losers anyways? Must have been someone who called Charlie's ads....I guess. We've worked on cars there before right in front of Roy. Kind of like that I got there early and tucked myself into the far back corner long before anyone else showed up,including Roy.

Meet at Colchester CT SCORE!!!!!!!!
Wow,great time for me,I can tell you that. Uncracked dash for my '73 GL1400 Coupe. OK,let's see you pull one of those out from your local Subaru guru's place. Well,it's a shame that the vintage northeast owners are a little too busy, etc. There's a slew of good parts still left there. Our man Charlie could sure use to make some money back from those cars and parts so please if you still need something ask me and I'll relay the message or get the part(s) for you and ship. Meanwhile,I'm going to ask Charlie if its ok to give you guys his number and you can work out your own deals.

!!!!!! s'ananab gnicnad find of the year
 The victory march ! Found at Charlie's in an old EA81 fourdoor sitting there waiting for me for years..... an uncracked dashboard SPECIFICALLY for my '73 GL1400 Coupe My immediate reaction was near hysteria.Thankfully I was too exhausted to carry on like the wacko I'd normally be at a time like this. Still,it was a mindboglling experience for those first few minutes and loading it into the car to take home.At those points I could barely contain myself.Just a constant chuckle, kind of like a mental patient babbling away. :slobber:

You are there on your own and are expected to not get hurt,etc.etc.....so please, make this a good and healthy day all around. Address:532 New London RoadCity:Colchester Hope to see you there. All lists are printed and I'm almost out the door.....well,pretty soon.

1980 gl5 maby 79 1/2 breed???
OK but the big question is how many GLF-5's are there out there? Check my gallery, there's one rotted away up at Charlie's place. It's the "Coupe" or hardtop like a GLF. Here it is: Tail lights are different than my '82 GLF 1600 engine too. Anyone need parts? Let me know ASAP as in NOW because it'll be crushed real soon. Cheers!

pics of my 80 what yall think?

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
I have this used cover from Charlie's: Looks like the passenger side to me. Like I said before,I'm positive I have one of those new,but not sure which side or how soon I'll get my hands on it again. But hopefully this is a slow meticulous restoration. That side trim ....I have some pieces set aside for you. They are staight, crisp, and not dinged up at all. More good news to follow. Car looks VERY French oooo la la !!! But I agree, just get good looking 13" wheels. Those '70's Sport Mags would be pretty cool. How about Photoshop a set of those on so we can see? I can't say this enough, sure it's your car to do as you see fit. But it's now very much part of a community with the majority of the members interested in you keeping it as close to stock as possible.Again, this is NOT the car you want to play games with. Its your choice, but I'm certainly not going to support you if I see you're making a joke out of it. Don't forget,I have two close friends here in CT who also have ff-1's Glad you got it running, never had a doubt it'd start up reasonably easy. There's NO REASON to be fearful of the 1100 or the 1300 despite the sloppy sleeves. Just don't overheat it,that's it. See you guys soon.

New to Subaru from Windsor Nova Scotia
Welcome Bruce! N.S. is in our blood. Hope to scratch up a small lot of land near the Baddeck/Cheticamp/Inverness triangle someday.Should have bought in '97....:-\ Not sure what I can help with but feel free to ask. Last time we were up there was around 1997 and there still weren't too many Subarus there, which surprised me. How are pickings for used 2.2's and 2.5's up there? I have an excellent relationship with a local dealer who gives me typical 25-33% discount on parts. And also there's a good yard that still lets you pick parts if they know you,and its right next to the dealer.I know how sparse it can be in parts of NS so if you want me to look for something,no problem. Nova Scotians are the best! Scallops,mussels,salmon,sea-run brook trout the size of footballs..........oh man, Enjoy your time here. Cheers, Paul

Those with 1100,1300,and 1400 engines
As I understand it from Charlie,he did make the swap with a lot of hard work. No early 5speeds here either since we didn't get the GSR or GFT. So,I have to guess that those 5speeds are from 1600's that Charlie has there. Geez,I could swear he said one was for a 1400. We'll see in the next few days. Still plenty of 4speeds there.
-
Those with 1100,1300,and 1400 engines
Great ancient history here. There should be at least one 5speed ,but I really want one for my '73 GL Coupe. How about adapting a 1600 5speed from a Stage I or Stage II? I think Charlie said he'd done it way back when but it was a major pain. As far as I know Charlie only has 1300 and 1400 engines and some 1100 pieces from his original ff-1. He has in his garage a 1971 ff-1 wagon with a transplanted 1300.
-
Those with 1100,1300,and 1400 engines
Well, since it'll kill me to see those engines tossed I'll try to make room for them and in the distant future maybe I'll break some down for easy shipping. Big maybe. If anyone wants shipping now I'll run this by Charlie and you guys can work it out. He has more time than I do with no kids, etc. so if its worth it he'll ship it.

Heater core replacement trouble
Hey uhh, just wondering if you used my old instructions on the dash removal/heatercore exchange? Should be a vacuum line to that switch control. Did you lift the dashboard? You can feel the speedometer cable input by reaching up from under the dash. Easier than you'd think to set it back inplace.

Those with 1100,1300,and 1400 engines
Sorry,if dual carb's were there they'd be mine now. Gee,I thought these were rare engines. That's why I made this post for those who've already found out just how hard it is to find whole engines and transmissions for these cars. maudsland should have some answers for you. You can get gasket sets dirt cheap and have plenty of extra gaskets while keeping it original. I am not getting involved with shipping. If you want to talk with Charlie about it I'll be happy to get you two connected. If it works out that you want something and he doesn't want to ship then maybe I can store it untill I can ship it but that's a long way off. Too much on my plate right now. For sure I want to see you get those drums at the very least. He also has the front wishbones for your car and lots more.
-
Those with 1100,1300,and 1400 engines
Our man Charlie has a few that will be going to scrap. Speak now if you want one. There probably isn't an 1100 engine there but he has 1100 pieces and plenty of 1300's to help out. Several 1400's there. A few transmissions too,but most were seized. Still, all can be broken down and used for parts at the very least. I had him set them all aside. These are the last you'll find of the ff-1 trannies with the aluminum inboard brake drums. Located in Colchester,CT

Meet at Colchester CT SCORE!!!!!!!!
For those of you not following the other post thread about the "Subaru Mostly Junkyard Closing" there is a good Subaru enthusiast who has to close up his junkyard untill he can find new space to rent. Subarus from a 1971 ff-1 "G" to 90's Legacys. Lots of EA81 and EA82 vehicles. One severely rusted 44k Gen I Brat (1980) with a decent interior- *** I AM CLAIMING THE DASHBOARD *** (blue, uncracked). Let me check with Charlie, the owner, and make sure he wants to do this. We did talk about it and he seemed to be leaning towards one big blow out day. Located on Rt. 85 just north of the Salem CT town line. ***** PRIVATE PROPERTY ***** This is NOT open to the public so DON'T go there looking for the place expecting to get in. It is NOT an official business. Talk to me about dates. I'll be running up there a few more times before it closes for good so there'll be several weekends or even weekdays if possible to meet. Quick review from eldest to newest, best I can: Some cars are still arriving from other locations. 1971 ff-1 G 1300 2door ** Supposedly Andrew is going to take it. 1973 Coupe -wasn't there yet but its coming -naturally I'll kill you if you take anything off it I need. 1974's one just left,at least one more to come 1976 sedan 1977 wagon 1978/9 wagons 1980 Brat 1980-84 Coupes (hardtops) 1984 FORMER USMB CALENDER CAR 4wd wagon (yes,Chris Lantieri's old wagon) 1982???? GLF-5 that's right,a RARE GLF-5 not pretty, but its there. 1985-6 style GL/DL wagons 1987-9 " " " " ,and sedans Maybe one or two 1990-94 Loyales 1990-94 Legacys but mostly whole cars. Some for parts, but if that's your only interes here be sure to make contact before making a long drive. There's also other cars of interest like an old Firebird, old Ford Falcon, rusted Corvair....Volvos,VW Cabiolet, more. Please check my photo gallery and the most recent pages should give you a good idea.Mostly tried to take the Subarus of course, but you might see just about anything in the background.

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
No,there's a better dash there. Don't be chicken poop of the 1300. Try it,you'll like it. EJ??? If you want a real project car then please pass this one along to someone else. It's not the right car for mods.

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79909 There you go. Sorry,I could swear you were in on at least one conversation involving Charlie before. Well, maybe its for the better. It seems andrew "wagonsonly" has approached Charlie about the ff-1 2door that's pictured. I had good intentions of getting whatever you could use for your from that car. There's still going to be a lot of parts that were stored inside it that will go your way for sure.

Check out the video you posted and you'll see what I'm talking about in the first sentence. The rest is about parts.
