  1. Run a cheap fish tank air pump into it for a few days. That should dry it out and the pump, tubing, and some fittings would cost less than $10. I've never done that... but it sounds like it should work. Good luck!
  2. You really think the SOHC HG fail rate is under 5%? That just seems so low that its almost an acceptable failure rate.
  3. The only time I've seen the oil light is when I was well over 3 quarts low. That was a long time ago... I had a bad oil leak and was a teenager. That oil light came on a lot.
  4. Check out http://www.car-part.com/ and search. It looks like there are several under $500 in the area.
  5. After this thread and another recently about the pulley falling off, I think in the morning I'm going to torque down my crank bolt again.
  6. I've read that dealers will charge $800+ for this repair. Your best bet would be to find a good independent shop, or do it yourself. There are several how-to guides around. The transmission does not have to be removed. I've never done this repair, but since picking up my first automatic Subaru a few months ago I've read all about it as it will probably need a new Duty C and clutch pack some day.
  7. The warranty is that its an EJ22. And check out http://www.car-part.com/ to search junk yards near you.
  8. I've seen you mention this in the past about the bolt and sleeve. When I put the tensioner idler on yesterday I compared the old and new. They were identical. I did reuse the old ones to be safe, but if there was a length difference in the bolt or sleeve, it was so close I did not see it
  9. If it was made in 7/91 its probably a 92. What does the title say? http://www.cars101.com/subaru/vin.html Check that against your VIN. That will tell you.
  10. Check out The Import Experts or Mizumo on eBay for belt, pump, and idler kits. I paid $147 shipped for a Mitsuboshi belt, Aisin pump, and idlers from Mizumo. Much cheaper than the dealer and they are quality parts. That was for a EJ22.
  11. I had a 1995 Legacy with a 2.2l/5MT to 120. It had well over 200,000 miles on it. It didn't get there quickly...but it got to 120.
  12. Cam and crank seals. Water pump and idlers, as mentioned. I wouldn't worry about head gaskets in a 2005 until there is a problem.
  13. The sensor that reads the tone ring is a magnet that attracts flakes of rusty metal. Try cleaning them off. Could you possibly have damaged the sensor? For me, when I had ABS tone ring issues, my ABS would kick in every time I hit the brakes.
  14. I paid $142.50 shipped from Mizumo for a kit that came with an Aisin pump, Mitsuboshi belt, idlers, and cam and crank seals. Would have been $15 less, but I wanted to upgrade to the Mitsuboshi belt.
  15. It reminds me of a Dodge Caliber...except not as awful looking. Any rumors on an MSRP?
  16. This might be a stupid question, but are the IAC the same on autos and manuals?
  17. I'd find a junk yard that has a cover. I know how nasty my engine compartment gets and I'd be concerned for the belt. I wouldn't be in a hurry, but within a few months. Good luck!
  18. Probably not your problem, but my Legacy was revving high the other day. I looked everything over...then I realized it was the cruise control cable stuck. Worth a look. Good luck.
