junkyardgabe replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i'd say buy it because more then likely it the final drive gear which take's two minutes to change and back on the road you go quick way to tell is there is a dome cover on the pass. side with three bolts take that off and the piece be hide slides out there a gear on the end if its strip or showing alot of wear then there's your problem jy cost a couple of dollars new there like $35 -

if you don't put 60 lb of pressure in it. it would be like running 15 lb in your full size tire and if you hit a pot hole with it it'll probably bend or blow out
-
yes they are glued in and the best way to get them out is a utility knife and the hood cable just cut one out of a junk car and make sure you take the windsheild out on a warm day

junkyardgabe replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
don't keep tightning the bolts yes it may have slow down but it will make leak worse because the gasket has soak up alot of oil and is going to seperate and split so i'd plan on replacing those gasket soon -

Ball Joint? barely driveable
junkyardgabe replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you may need torches to get the bolt out because half the one's i've changed that bolt always breaks and a nice big pair of vice grip's to grab the base of the ball joint and get it turning inside hub then you shouldn't have any problem's -
