He is really a nice guy to talk to. He said it's fine to give out his phone #s.......so if you want to give him a call here ya go. 412-973-2979 412-853-8617 So far he only has a handful of orders he says. That is the hood cable opening. I have talked about this before. The rubber seal often did not get seated correctly @ the factory and then leaked......thus RUST. I told every people to check their rubber and their hole!

You have alot more energy than I do! That front end rust is very critical. Something was leaking majorly and soaked the insulation to be that bad! I monitor that area in my cars every few months, just in case something starts leaking and I don't know it. You have lot's of seams and joints all over up front. Multiple layers and overlaps. One small rust thru and it starts the devious rusting process. You seem like you are off to a good start. I am enjoying watching your progress!! I would seriously consider stripping that car and and sand blasting the rolling shell. They do that here for about $500.

UPDATE 2/12/2012 NOS fiberglass front fender available.
OK....enough!....if you don't want the fenders, or you don't feel comfortable, SIMPLY don't get them!!! Easy..OK? You are not buying a car! I will take the risk...he is packing mine now. This guy is old school. I have talked to him at length. I have his cell and his personal home phone #. I have his complete name and he is listed in the city where is says he is. Quite frankly, who the heck wants to pay PAYPAL'S fees all the time.....I can tell you I DON'T. I will always prefer a check or MO over freakin PAYPAL when I'm selling! However, I will ask him again about that option. SO CHILL! ***** Now... 111GILES***** This posting is about GENERATION 1 Fenders. (70s) Your product has nothing to do with this thread. As a moderator, please consider posting where your audience is. Classifieds, or Older Generation 80s. It is confusing and not related. I'm sure that the 80s owners would LOVE to hear from you. BTW your fenders look really nice! If you do make GEN 1 parts please let us know! Thank You

Nice ride! (Cushy seats!!) Glad you are enjoying it! Todd

I am noobie Just brought this home tonight!
Please look for any rust high up on the inner wheel wells. Right where the inner wheel well, the firewall and the cowl come together. With the amount of rust you have, I'm afraid you will find it there too and it's nearly impossible to effectively repair that area. You have MANY good parts. I would search for a better body. But then again, if you have the time, money and determination, you are on the right track. At any rate, thanks for sharing your projects with all of us! If you run part needs...Give me a shout! Best, Todd

I am noobie Just brought this home tonight!
Look inside on the inner wheel wells. Way up high. Pull back the trim and insulation and check where the firewall, wheel well and front panal come together. Nice Brat though and well worth the restoration! Yes, that foam in the fenders rusted MANY fenders!! bad/bad design!

How to fix the hood hinge (78 DL)
You have to remove the grill under the wiper arms. You will mostly find that the spot welds broke on the hood bracket. It will either need re-welded, or screwed down.

95 Legacy AC question
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXActually, I could draw it down. I have a vac pump. Just have someone recover. It's never been serviced....original system. If I draw it down, is it worth it to replace the compressor with a rebuild? Or just keep the original. It seems to be working OK. I have a rebuilt on the shelf....I got cheap on eBay! Todd

95 Legacy AC question
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell, today it didn't break 100 degrees in Dallas! Yipee! Anyway, pressures running 30ish and 250ish at idle. However, when you "1st" turn on the AC after the car has been sitting, or the 1st start of the day and the AC will not turn on for a few minutes. It seems that the engine heat may need to increase the low pressure enough to allow it to cycle on. Maybe that is why it won't turn on in cooler weather. The low pressure is triggered. If I add freon, the high side cutoff starts! So all that combined with a higher than normal pressure that climbs quickly with RPM increase, seems to be pointing strongly to the exapansion valve. You agree?

95 Legacy AC question
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'll see what happens today in the heat! Otherwise, I'm thinking expansion valve and a sore back! Todd

95 Legacy AC question
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOk...I played with the AC today. (105 degrees!!!! Car at idle, shop fan in front of radiator, windows closed). It seems the high pressure cutoff is cutting the AC and then it has to wait for the pressure to come down to cycle back on. The cutoff seems to be 400. After removing some charge, the high side climbs to about 300ish when revved to 2000 rpms......and the low side stay about 30ish. The air is cold in the car at 43 out the vent. It seems to cycle appropriately now, but I will drive it tomorrow in the heat of the day and see. Oh, If I add any charge at all, the high end goes too high. Do I have a marginally failing expansion valve? Shouldn't the low end be a bit higher and the high end be a bit lower.....or is this hell we call "TX...it's a dry heat" causing it? Thanks!! Todd

95 Legacy AC question
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWOW...so much AC knowledge!! Thanks! I will again check pressures. Does any one know the correct #s? I do know it's not the compressor clutch, as I can jump it to operate with the battery. It's worse when it's "not so hot", such as trying to defog in cooler wet weather. Also seems to cut out for l o n g e r periods when it's really hot. Works best on "medium" days. (high 80s -low 90s) Thermoswitch....is that at the evaporator? Lot's to look at now! Thank you guys so much. I will report back. Todd
