4EAT labor costs?
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks for all the good information guys! I'm still on the fence about swapping, but leaning toward selling the low mileage one.

UPDATE 2/12/2012 NOS fiberglass front fender available.
OK guys....remember that these fenders are REALLY old. I recently bought steel fenders, (NEW/NOS) that had small bits of damage and will require some time. We have to almost expect that some repairs will be needed. With that said, we are lucky to even find body parts! Please don't allow small issues to taint your decision to buy these. The seller is a great guy to work with and is not trying to pull off anything on us. The price is right too!! George sent me this: Since these fenders were manufactured over 14 years ago and have not been sealed, primered or painted, the gelcoat will react to normal atmosphere ultraviolet light and may cause the thin layer of gelcoat to distort, (bubble). The information I want to convey is that they may need small touch-ups. Fiberglas Evercoat Gelcoat is a product that would be helpful in the refinishing of these fenders. I also suggest that you use a U.S. Chemical Product called Duraglas to repair any cracks from the outside of the fender, or Fiberglas Evercoat Resin with Hardener to repair any cracks from the inner side of the fender. These products are available from any automotive paint/body supplier in your area. > Please contactl me, (see post # 1), if you have any further questions....I really want you to be satisfied with the fenders.

4EAT labor costs?
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhere can you lift these transmissions at? If you lift at the pan, with a large flat, evenly dispersed surface, is that OK?

4EAT labor costs?
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI read that band adjustment section and it was confusing. I believe there is only one band adjustment screw on this? (The one on top near the starter) Tighten or loosen?

4EAT labor costs?
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI guess you both are right.... but the thought of a nice low mileage tranny sounds good to me! The existing transmission seems to "hunt" a little from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, so I figured it was starting it's mileage. Man, 5-600 bucks is WORTH being on my back! Todd

4EAT labor costs?
I am in the processing of thinning out lot's of Subaru stuff, in preparation for a move. Mainly the HEAVY stuff! I have a 32K 4EAT AWD tranny I want to put in a 95 Impreza. (Exact tranny that I want to replace). That car's original tranny has 100K. I figure put it in and that way I don't have to transport that heavy beast! I plan on keeping the car a long time! How much would a reputable shop charge to switch these? Do you think I really need to inspect/ change the transfer clutches at that low of mileage? I would do this myself, but that tranny is a bear! (and being on my back, under the car...... does NOT sound like fun or easy! Thanks! Todd

Installing tranny...easiest way?
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSuch good advice! THANKS! One other thought.....the replacement trans has 65K. It has been sitting in nice dry storage for a few years. It was drained of fluids. Would anyone think that the sit time would damage anything? I'm thinking that after it gets new fluid and warms up, it should flush out. Do a few extra fluid changes too.

OLD THREAD Closed 7-9-14 Pay time for Windshield Gaskets - **** Check here for total **** post #1
Everybody..... let's get this paid. If not, you are going to lose your order to someone else, or face a higher cost after they come in. (You will have to pay some interest on the credit card used to support your order). This is alot of work. I did it last time with Paul. This time he is going it alone. He is most kind to do that! Let's not make him sweat the money too!!! If you have changed your mind Tell him ASAP and remove your name. There are others wanting additional gaskets. Thanks, Todd

Installing tranny...easiest way?
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSounds like a back breaker and a ruptured disk waiting to happen! Yes, at least there is not a clutch disk to line up splines. I'm leaning toward saying it's easier to pull the motor. I do have a lift, so maybe puiing the exhaust and cross member might be easier. I need a magic wand!

Installing tranny...easiest way?
If one was to install a new tranny in a 95 2.2 Impreza AWD/automatic, would it be easier/safer to pull the engine, install tranny and then replace engine? Or is that more work than needed and it can be done with the engine in the car. Just curious.... I may be into helping someone with this project. Thanks! Todd

SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell that kinda takes the worry away.....I'm spooked by airbags!!! Here's hoping the wheel just comes loose! Thanks! Todd

Impreza Steering wheel switch out
Trying to swap the steering wheel out on an Impreza 1996. (The steering wheel commonly used in Legacies and Imprezas around then. The one that actvates the horn by depressing the entire horn pad). My new steering wheel is the same wheel, just in less worn condition. Is there a process to doing this? Kinda spooked with the airbag. Like #1 DC the battery. #2 ?? #3 Any advice/tips. Just don't need it blowing up on me! Todd
