  1. Well, I'll do the counting and look at the tach in the 2 while driving. I was in hopes that maybe since the part # stickers on the trans were close, they might be the same. It would make sense that the drive ratio be different, as the Legacy is a bit heavier. But according to the graphic from the manual above,( Earlier post) Legacy 777/ it indicates the "distance between gears" is the same. Hmm And as for salvage yard interchanges, if salvage yard interchanges were surgeons text books, lot's of people would be dead! Todd
  2. A shame to drive that in salt/winter. It will rust fast. It's a death sentence. Remember, it's a classic car at this point, you should reconsider. Additionally, it's an appreciating asset. More so than your hatch. The seller could have got a plenty more if he advertised it nationally. "Essentially", he gave it to you, not knowing it's value. Sometimes sellers can't see the forest through the trees. A rust free, gen 1, of anykind, that is in reasonable condition, will easily sell in the thousands. You just have to market to the right people. If you do drive it it the winter, Wash under the front wheel wells frequently. You have no inner liners and if you still have the original fenders, there is already the start of rust under them due to the sealant. I hate to see vintage cars used as beaters when collectors are seeking them, but thats my opinion. Just food for thought. Congrats on a sweet deal! Todd
  3. I own both a 95 Impreza and a 95 Legacy. I drive both. I have the spare transmission in storage. Just for reference, I indicated that my spare Impreza trans has the same # as the one in my Impreza. All I'm trying to determine, is if the Legacy and Impreza transmissions interchange. Todd
  4. Well here are the #s on the transmissions. Anyone know the meaning?? 95 Legacy 2.2 AWD/4EAT TZ102ZA AAA-C7 95 Impreza 2.2 AWD/4EAT TZ102ZA 3BA-G9 I have a spare Impreza trans out of an identical Impreza and the # s are the exact same as the Impreza above. I do know that the engines are EXACTLY the same. Could it be that the Impreza's are imported and the Legacy's are made here? Thx, Todd
  5. Is the 4EAT AWD and rear end ratio, the same in a 95 Impreza and a 95 Legacy? I know the 2.2 engines are identical Thx, Todd
  6. Well, there is a 80s wagon at that pick and pull. It will have some stuff for you. You can use many parts from 1980-1985 cars, wagons and sedans. The BRAT you have is from 1982-1987. (Gen 2) Gen 1 was 77-81 and very few parts interchange between generations, with the exception of some small mechanical parts. Feel free to email or call me. I always like helping the few local guys here! Todd
  7. Yes. I would think that car would be dangerous, Be careful. Todd
  8. Gosh, that reminds me of my days living in PA. Now in TX, I have not had to deal with that for 20 years. (Just the right wing conservatives)!!! I would say anything is possible, but you are in for alot of work! I would strip the car, cut out the mess, sandblast the rest, weld in new metal and treat with POR-15 or better yet, Rust-Bullet. I don't envy you. I have parted cars with less rust than that. Good Luck, Todd
  9. Hey TX guys: Was at Pick and Pull Dallas (loop 12) and found a beautiful 93 Loyale with 70K on it. The engine looks perfect and still has that new "shine" to it! It's intact! Great interior, (Gray) I think it's burgundy in color. It's a 4 door. There are also numerous decent Legacys from 90-94, one 95 AWD wagon, one 83 wagon, 4 or 5 Imprezas. (Mostly 1.8/FWD). 1 or 2 Turbo Loyale wagons 4WDs and a few other decent Loyales. Todd
  10. Got it!!!!! (via email) Thanks very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Toddd
  11. OK, I have 16" tires on my 95 legacy and my 95 Impreza, both AWDs, but the spares are 15" temporary. If I have to use the spares, will the limited use of that spare of a different size damage the transmission? Do I need to get 16" spares, or is it OK to use them in emergencies? Just use the fuse in the engine compartment. Now is this a true statement? " You can have an odd size tire on one or the other axle, as long as the other tire is the same size as at least one tire on the other axle. , because of the open front and rear diffs. Its having 2 of the same size on one axle that is a different size of both tires on the other axle, that is what will bind up the center diff". Thanks! Todd
  12. Hey I could use one! 4s3bd6552s7211201 Thanks! Todd subaru3@aol.com
  13. I need to ship the left and right BRAT door glass and rear glass to Canada from TX. Any ideas ion how to best pack and ship that? Who's the best carrier? I thing USPS is the only way. Todd
  14. Today, I noticed that when I'm driving down the highway, 50-70 mph, a vacuum pulls the sunroof up about 1/4 " at the back when in the closed position. I know, I know..... don't fix what isn't broken, but I'm a perfectionist I guess. I have no leaks. When going down a bumpy road though, the roof bounces up and down some due to this loosness. This loosness seems to be in the little gear that pops up the roof at the back. It's not the seal, or the pan caulk. It's mechanical. Who on here is the sunroof specialist? 1995 Legacy. Todd
  15. Thanks guys. I put the front on the inside and the rears on the outside. (That's the way it was when I took them out.) Todd
  16. Ok, can someone clarify to me where the rivited on metal tab, on the one brakepad goes? In a set 2 pads have the clip on it. Does it go on the bottom, inside of the rotor on the front wheel? How about rear disks. The same way? Inside, bottom? I have seen them on the out side bottom too. How about shims.....do they have to be glued on/ anti-squealed? Todd
  17. I was installing mudflaps on a 91 Legacy and I could not believe how much dirt was packed in behind the front plastic fender liner at the bottom! When I did the other side....same thing. Well, I looked at my 95 Legacy and my (2) 95 Imprezas....SAME THING! The highest mileage is 90K, the lowest is 56K, but they all had lots of dirt in there. This will now be an annual clean out! I was lucky, no rust starting. (It helps that I'm in TX. ) But I suggest everybody pull back the liner and take a peek! Todd
  18. Paul...your right. I assumed it was a FWD. Todd
  19. NICE!! When you get a chance, lets see more pics!!! Todd
  20. Well, I would consider a replacement. You have to pull the trans to do the seal anyway. It's a job to split the case. Not impossible, but certainly not fun. Why not upgrade to a 5 speed? You just have to replace some of the shifter linkage. ....pretty easy. I'm sure other will chime in here. Todd
  21. Bryan...you are starting to make me REALLY envious!! You have great weather, great car shows, lot's of Subis, acting gigs. liberal people and fun night life! When I get out there for pilot season...I MIGHT STAY!! LOL Send me the pics! Todd
  22. What seal are you referring to?
