  1. Start from scratch Learn to use a multi meter. it is pretty easy You need the battery constant the ground the ignition maybe the dimmer (optional) You have to verify that all the leads are what they are supposed to be. IF you dont you can either pay some one else to find out or buy a bottle of asprin.. do to the pain it will cause trying to guess what wire is which.
  2. who decked and ported your heads? also how much off the head did you deck? Do you happen to have the part# for the dual carb rebuild kit. I have a dual carb setup laying around and would like to rebuild it. If you could post a pic of the setup with the dual carbs on it. I want to see how you ran your carb linkage. Thanks.
  3. Not to hi-jack.. but you you really think just on gallon of herculiner would work? I am in process of doing that this week and it only covers 60 square feet a gallon..Is that really enough to do the bed and the brat. I am thinking 2 1/2 gallons... sorry for the hi-jack but if it helps there is some one who has a forrest green brat on the photo side. They are rallying it in the pic. I have the pic on my jump drive let me find it.
  4. I can not stop laufhing to type right...
  5. I went with the wall mart tires. They were pretty cheap and had some good grip tread. Just dont be like me and put the tires on before the lift.. does not work to well. You might want to search there are tons of post on this issue. Im feeling nice http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24979 I went with the liberators.. Now I just need to install my lift.
  6. Congrats on the new soob. I will look forwarding to seeing it when I come down to get the fender. I am on vacation this week so I will call you and let you know. Aint going to lift it for a while...ha..ha Yeah right
  7. I am thinking more along the lines of one of the chase cars. Now if I can only get master blaster to sit in the back.. Oh well back to work.
  8. In my quest to make the Brat look like the remains of ww III. I figured I would start this thread and updated it as I get things done. part 1 Rust proofing and hole pluging. Rust proofing with this http://rustbullet.com/Products/Automotive/Automotive.htm nice stuff it is a brushable powder coating. 1 Gallon covers 200sq ft hole filling with this http://www.por15.com/PRODUCTS/PUTTYFILLERSSEALERS/EPOXYPUTTY/tabid/87/Default.aspx This stuff has some wicked tensil strength you can even tap it and put screws in it. Then I will cover it with this http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0021475016662a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=tuff+coat&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=tuff+coat&noImage=0 I will be trimming fenders and putting on flares. More to come. ---pics below-- I still have one more coat of rust bullet to put on this spot. It has to be 3 mils thick . I only bought the sampler kit The one gallon pail is in the mail.
  9. Does any one have a ruff estimate on the square footage of the exterior of a brat? I am applying a rust proofer and I need to know how much I need. I am thinking the under body and the bed.

  11. You dont have it mounted to the body do you. It can also ground through the chassy of the amp. You can always hook up a rely to the remote out of the head unit or the acc wire if it is a bad remote. But it sounds like a bad amp. Whish I was there I could trouble shoot it for you.
  12. I would say your amp is "motor boating" (floating ground) but if you ran a lead directly from the battery for both the postive and the ground and the remote turn on and it STILL is doing it try hooking the amp up with out the speakers. IF it works (power comes on) fine you may have a bad speaker which is grounding out causeing a short. On the other hand if you hook it up directly to the battery and it does it with no spearks (no load) on it you have a bad amp. Or you may have a load that is to small for the amp..Ie speakers are wired in a "bridged mode" .. Just a thought.
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/Legacy-LN60-Hi-To-Low-Converter-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ5748872736QQcategoryZ1498QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You wire in the spearker wires to the (I would just use some red taps) box and it turns them in to a rca. there are adjustment screws you can use on the box to match impedance (acts like a gain). The best way to adjust them is to turn your amps gain to about 1/4 -1/2 and then adjust the screws for proper volume. That is the layman's way of doing it. Welcome to the board!!
  14. You need a hi to low level converter. They are not the most clean sounding items but if you are using it for a sub out put you will be ok. IF you do use one I would grab the lines off the back speakers so you you can fade it to the rear. If you did not already have the amp you could buy one that has a converter built in. Let me see if I can find you a picture of a converter.
  15. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46748 The pic was pretty cool
  16. You found a roll bar... LUcky duck!!! Welcome to the nut house:drunk:
  17. I rather take croaking old dudes that know there stuff then most of the guys I run in to on my wrx fourms. So be carefull some day it might be a croaking old dude that saves you a few broken knukles and a motor over haul. Welcome to the fourm:drunk:
  18. maybe your search button is broke. Here is the thread I found buy using it. "removing emmissions" http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42254&highlight=removing+emmissions and if you want to inprove your performance of the search button dont spelll liek me. Becoming a donor helps too:headbang:
  19. I replaced the berrings on the other side now and the sound is gone. I have just a tad bit of steering wheel shimmer at high speeds. But a aligment should fixs that. So if you said wheel berrings to my question you were right:banana:
  20. They are Douglas Xtra-trac. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1819233&year=&make=&model=&vehicle_path=false&tire_spec_selected=&tire_width=175&tire_ratio=80&tire_diameter=13&tire_type=&tire_load_index=&tire_load_range=&tire_speed_rating=&tire_equivalent_load_index=&tire_size= I dont think it is bad road. I just got back from a trip to Denver that is 1000 miles round trip. Now that I think about it I may of had heard a rubbing sound when I was makeing a slow tight turn. I thought wheel berrings go " clunk" at least my last one did.
  21. I did that when I put the wheels on but I will try it again.. any other guesses.
  22.
