Paint scheme for brat?
Not to hi-jack.. but you you really think just on gallon of herculiner would work? I am in process of doing that this week and it only covers 60 square feet a gallon..Is that really enough to do the bed and the brat. I am thinking 2 1/2 gallons... sorry for the hi-jack but if it helps there is some one who has a forrest green brat on the photo side. They are rallying it in the pic. I have the pic on my jump drive let me find it.

Operation Mad Max
In my quest to make the Brat look like the remains of ww III. I figured I would start this thread and updated it as I get things done. part 1 Rust proofing and hole pluging. Rust proofing with this http://rustbullet.com/Products/Automotive/Automotive.htm nice stuff it is a brushable powder coating. 1 Gallon covers 200sq ft hole filling with this http://www.por15.com/PRODUCTS/PUTTYFILLERSSEALERS/EPOXYPUTTY/tabid/87/Default.aspx This stuff has some wicked tensil strength you can even tap it and put screws in it. Then I will cover it with this http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0021475016662a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=tuff+coat&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=tuff+coat&noImage=0 I will be trimming fenders and putting on flares. More to come. ---pics below-- I still have one more coat of rust bullet to put on this spot. It has to be 3 mils thick . I only bought the sampler kit The one gallon pail is in the mail.

How many feet??
Does any one have a ruff estimate on the square footage of the exterior of a brat? I am applying a rust proofer and I need to know how much I need. I am thinking the under body and the bed.

No Ground?
You dont have it mounted to the body do you. It can also ground through the chassy of the amp. You can always hook up a rely to the remote out of the head unit or the acc wire if it is a bad remote. But it sounds like a bad amp. Whish I was there I could trouble shoot it for you.
-
No Ground?
I would say your amp is "motor boating" (floating ground) but if you ran a lead directly from the battery for both the postive and the ground and the remote turn on and it STILL is doing it try hooking the amp up with out the speakers. IF it works (power comes on) fine you may have a bad speaker which is grounding out causeing a short. On the other hand if you hook it up directly to the battery and it does it with no spearks (no load) on it you have a bad amp. Or you may have a load that is to small for the amp..Ie speakers are wired in a "bridged mode" .. Just a thought.

Add an Sub/AMP to a 05 Stock Legacy Radio?
7point62fmj replied to dextr214's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXhttp://cgi.ebay.com/Legacy-LN60-Hi-To-Low-Converter-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ5748872736QQcategoryZ1498QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You wire in the spearker wires to the (I would just use some red taps) box and it turns them in to a rca. there are adjustment screws you can use on the box to match impedance (acts like a gain). The best way to adjust them is to turn your amps gain to about 1/4 -1/2 and then adjust the screws for proper volume. That is the layman's way of doing it. Welcome to the board!!

7point62fmj replied to dextr214's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou need a hi to low level converter. They are not the most clean sounding items but if you are using it for a sub out put you will be ok. IF you do use one I would grab the lines off the back speakers so you you can fade it to the rear. If you did not already have the amp you could buy one that has a converter built in. Let me see if I can find you a picture of a converter.

Lets play.. name that sound
I replaced the berrings on the other side now and the sound is gone. I have just a tad bit of steering wheel shimmer at high speeds. But a aligment should fixs that. So if you said wheel berrings to my question you were right:banana:
-
Lets play.. name that sound
They are Douglas Xtra-trac. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1819233&year=&make=&model=&vehicle_path=false&tire_spec_selected=&tire_width=175&tire_ratio=80&tire_diameter=13&tire_type=&tire_load_index=&tire_load_range=&tire_speed_rating=&tire_equivalent_load_index=&tire_size= I dont think it is bad road. I just got back from a trip to Denver that is 1000 miles round trip. Now that I think about it I may of had heard a rubbing sound when I was makeing a slow tight turn. I thought wheel berrings go " clunk" at least my last one did.

Lets play.. name that sound
I did that when I put the wheels on but I will try it again.. any other guesses.

Lets play.. name that sound
Ok here is the deal I have a 87 brat and just got new tires on it..(well I got new tires on it twice because i forgot to ask if I need a lift to fit 225,70,r15 at least it looked cool ) and now when I go over 40 I hear a hum like the kind of hum you hear when you pull on to the ribbed sides of the high way, just not as loud and I can feel it just a little bit in the steering wheel. When I turn around a wide corner it goes a way but when my steering wheel is stratight it comes back. Does any one know if wallmart did not balance the wheel right would it make this sound? SOME HISTORY- I dont know if any of this helps but I fixed the passanger side wheel berring last week and I need to replace the drivers side rotor becase it is BADDLY groved like almost through the other side groved and since I am not the first or third owner of this brat I dont know how long the rotor has been this way. Thanks John

How is your old motor doing
I dont know if any one is interested or not but my amsoil dealer was telling me about a service they offer. They sale a kit that (roughly 22 dollars) checks your oil to see how your motor is holding up. the way it works is the kit has a extractor that you put down in to your motor and then fill up a test jar with oil and then you ship it to there lab. Shipping is pre-paid. Then you get back a oil finding report on the wear of your motor. We used to use test like these on our millitary vechicals. If you are interested let me know I can get you in contact with him.

Camping Pics and Vid
it would be more comfortable to shoot if you did not lock your elbows. It also helps to keep a slight bend in the case of having to engage more than on target. OH well every one is a expert
