  1. IF this is the one you told me of a while a go I did call them and they said they did not have it, What was the name of that yard again. I might be heading out to subiemech85 to get a tail for my brat. Kind of off topic but I just got it lifted and Mic's LSD on and I have yet to mount the big tires I want to see how the 4spd does. We will see. Then it is going to get Mic's light bar on it and the Flat black rustoelem treamet.
  2. I just wish there was one closer to the mid west..
  3. Start here.. go out side and check the fluid in your radiator (make sure the car is cold). I don't think that jumping your car had any thing to do with it since there is few electronics in these cars compared to the new ones. Next I think the clogged exhaust theory is a good one. It is possible that not in till you hit 45mph were you making enough exhaust for the clog to effect the flow and now it may be clogged more. Other than that it may be a bad head gasket or fuel filter. Now stop... and take a big breath... It does not matter if you don't know a lot about cars. Go do a search for "How to keep your Subaru alive" it is a kind of a manual for dummies.. Some one has it on this server I think. It reads like a comic book and is very user friendly. It shows you how to change out your fuel filter. If you are looking for a quick fix you aint going to learn squat and if that makes you mad then you should of not of bought a older vehicle now before I get flamed. The Subaru EA81 and EA82 are great motors to cut your shade tree mechanic teeth on. They are pretty simple and don't weigh much if you have to pull them out. I think in there simplicity lies there beauty. So lets recap. 1.check your coolant levels 2.down load "how to keep your Subaru alive" 3.change your fuel filter 4.read the manual you down loaded and take note of the head gasket section. 5. enjoy learning new things these cars are awesome 6. If you still are stuck keep asking questions AFTER you have tried our recomodations. Where here to help.
  4. They get rid of the bug-eye, they get rid of the two door the wrx gets de-nutted and loses it fender flares. They are working on a joint car with Honda that is not a boxer plus FIA wants them to get rid of it too and now they drop wrc. (I hope not for ever) Lets see how long it is in till they get rid of AWD.
  5. The old subaru slogan in the 80's was "Cheap and built to stay that way." You may of got the bad in of the stick on this one.

I ended up those on the rear diff. I guess I am just supposed to use the diff plate and drop the back and leave the rear drive shaft at a factory angle. Part number I used for the shocks were per sjr's webesite Rancho pt # RS5241 got them from summit.

So what part of this kit do I use to drop the torsion bar? I have already used all the parts and I have nothing left? maybe I put some thing in the wrong place. The rear diff is lowered and the new shocks are on but with out dropping the bar a bit I have no rear lift. I pm'ed SJR and am wating to hear back from him but if any one else knows that would help too since I want to get finished with this asap. Thanks This is a 4inch lift on a ea81 brat
  8. This thread got lost in the play ground switch before I could check it. I need to know where I can go to get the rear bracket on the front sway bar. There is two on the front part and two on the rear part of the bar and I only need one of the rear ones. Rock auto states that they carry the bushings but they have a few diffrent sizes 16,19,18mm I am not sure which ones I need. I have yet to find a place that carries the bracket. It looks like the previous owner of the brat must of ran over some thing that messed up the bar.
  9. Ok when I bought my replacement brat for the one that went up in flames:-\, the guy I bought it from gave me a bunch of free parts. He told me that one of the spark plug holes in the current motor had been heli-colied but did not effect the motor. (which it did not) One of the things he gave me was a set of replacement heads. So My question is. Is it worth it to have these things p&P'ed and decked and rebuilt. I am not expecting any thing all that great just a little more umph would be nice and since there here I figured why not. Also does delta do this kind of work and how much? Thanks in advance.
  10. bump for a answer to the above.
  11. Ok so I am using this thread and http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49952 This thread to make sure I get all the parts I need to swap a 5sp dr in to my soon to be brat (4sp dr) replacement. I just want to make some things are clear. This will be going in to a 4 inch 85 lifted brat so I dont think I will have clearance issue. Out of the donor ea82 car I need the following. 1.ea82 flywheel 2.ea82 clutch/pressure plate 3.ea82 drive shaft.. which sine this is a brat and not a hatch will work un-moded as far as length concerned. 4.interior ea82 boots/consoles Did I miss any thing?
  12. Is the instructions for install a SJR lift pretty much the same??
  13. It worked out real well.. if you could say that at all. Normal I park it next to my wrx and the Titan and the spot I parked it in that night used to have wooden pallets and gass cans next to it. Pluss I still have a 4 inch SJR lift I have not put in it yet. I have a wanted add for another one in the wanted fourm. So yess I will be keeping the bumper.
  14. Problem fixed its self... sort of:eek: :banghead: . Now it is time to look for a new one. Dam mice I am not happy about this at all. This is what happens when you work too much and can not hunt down electrical problems in your car. I came out at 415 am and found it this way. My wife did most of the crying. Oh well I guess I will be driving the wrx for a while.
  15. Thanks Mic for clearing that up. I guess it is time to bust out the multi-meter. I will start where cougar said I should. Thanks to all.
  16. Ok here is the kibbel, It first started when I noticed that when I turned on my high beams that when I turned them off my high beam indicator would stay on even if I cycled to the low beams. Then on top of that the head lights dont turn off when I turn the switch to turn them off. Now yesterday my low light fuel indicator light stoped working. The fuel gauge has never worked but the low light indicator always has and now nothing. Oh if any one wants to know right around 400 miles is when you run out of gass and come to a dead stop. So ... what might of caused this? I know I drove threw some really bad rain last week and when I was doing it I cycled through my park lights and hazards durring the rain storm. I wonder if some thing shorted. I thought maybe a bad relay for the head lights since I think they turn off and reset when you turn the car off and back on again.
  17. you tap those by hand:eek: ... how is that going for ya.
  18. one more question what is the diffrance between a ej adapter and a ej swap? is it just the fly wheel. I am looking at future mods.
