  1. hehe, stock boost 8psi.... :argue: your dash lights will prolly be almost white like mine.. no digidash
  2. looks like were gettin more and more soob owners out here in virginia afterall.. i can think of about 7-10 of us right off the top of my head.. hehe welcome to the board.. ya know, the clutch in my RX Sedan was replaced about 13k ago by the person before the previous owner.. and tell ya what, mines stiffer than stiff.. but mines also slippin a little. ( i think its glazed over) i did adjust it but basically all that did for me was move the "feel" of where it engages when lettin out on the pedal.. where at in Virginia are ya? the hill holder is a trial and error adjustment... its great if you just plan on city drivin, but if ya wanna offroad, its more of a pain in teh arse than a benefit, cause ya can't roll backwards down a hill if ya need to.. as far as fuel goes, i've always run 87 in my turbo wagon and my RX, never had a problem with it.. ocasionally when the prices go down i toss a tank of 93 in it just as a treat.. and miles, my RX doesn't have the lockin center diff
  3. well i cleaned the connector, ecsd light went away, starts right up now.. but it runs like a yugo.. very sad.. its poppin through the intake somewhere almost like a backfire.. won't do over 60mph.. and i noticed the temp gauge runnin on the hot side... but in my questing to figure what the hell is wrong with this thing, i found a broken sensor.. it sits behind the intake manifold, screws into the block, and the disty wireing harness pluges into it.. any idea what this is?? i'm swapping in my 2wd disty too btw..
  4. its the sensor that screws into the block.. the distributor wiring harness has a lug that goes into it.. this is on an ea82T the one on the RX was broken.. (think that was part of my problem) the one on the wagon broke when i tried to get it out.. it screws in right behind the intake manifold, disty wiring harness plugs into it.. about all i can say about it really..
  5. purolator pure one, all thats been used on my turbo wagon.. 290k they only cost about $5 at the parts store... how much cheaper do ya want? and they rank up there with wix, napa gold, etc...
  6. okie doke, will try that.. since i don't have any manuals for this thing, i couldn't tell what the code was.. i'm assuming its that sensor right on top of the thermo housing? heh, good to see another Tony on the board.. this thread kinda gets confusing, i'm sittin here thinkin wait, I'm Tony.. Ebayers beware!! next 85 FSM's that pop up are mine!! if you bid, it'll be an all out bidding war thanks for tellin me what those flashs mean Calebz:headbang:
  7. yeah just put a driveline in it.. after changin the drivers side cv axle, hub assembly with wheel bearing and no change, i broke down today and did the passenger side hub and wheel bearing, fixed the problem..
  8. ok Dennis, the tach seemd to have fixed itself after i regrounded the car again.. used my ground wire off the wagon (it was beefy) on another note, what do i need to read the ecs code?? never messed with them before.. i'm assuming the little black box under the steering column is the computer.. its got a red light that flashes 3 long and 3 short per cycle.. any ideas? never had to crack the throttle at all on my 86' turbo wagon, and its got 290k on it. lol at any rate, maybe i'll pull the FPR off it and see what it does..
  9. i'm havin similiar probs, theres another post sorta related i think http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7907 i've swapped my maf with a known good one (came off my turbo wagon) rewired the coil, checked all vacuum lines, and nothin.. car falls on its face between 3-5k rpms, and pics up a tiny bit between 5k and 6k redline.. its very gutless.. doesn't like to start when its warm, gotta floor it to get it to start then it still takes 10-15 seconds.. when its cold however it doesn't even get a full revolution on the initial crank and it fires right up.. on the little black box under the steering column theres a littel red light, gettin 3 long flashes and 3 short flashes per cycle.. not sure what this means.. tomorrow, i'll be changin plugs, and rotor, and maybe even swap in my 2wd distributor.. i already have an accell coil, 8mm accell plug wires, and a new oem disty cap (still in plastic) i'm a bit peeved.. am about ready to rip the engine out and put my 290k turbo motor in there, i know it runs right.
  10. well, i swapped the maf, rewired the coil, found a vacuum line off (didn't do anything tho) messed with the vacuum on the cruise control.. the only thing swappin the maf accomplished, is when the engine is cold, it fires right up.. otherwise, when its warm, ya gotta floor it still to get it to start, then keep it runnin for 15 sec or so for it to idle.. with this maf tho, its got no ballz, its pretty flat between 3-5k, then it picks up a little for that 1k before redline.. so i have no friggin clue whats wrong with it now.. its still got that funky miss when accelerating, kinda like a plug doesn't fire in one cylinder ocasionally, is what it feels like.. i know this maf is good, cause my wagon never once had a problem, and always started and ran like a stripped :moon: ape i did notice theres a little black box uner the steering column, its got a red light that flashes.. 3 long flashes 3 short flashes.. not sure what that means.. my ECS light is still on too :madder: when the part store opens tomorow, i'm gonna go get new plugs, and rotor. ( igot an oem cap already, and accell 8mm wires and accell coil) i might even swap in my 2wd disty and see what happens.. i've had the funny itch that somethings amiss in the disty.... will post back after i do all that tomorrow... on a good note i fixed my wheel bearing today too
  11. my rx is doin that exact thing, only it'll idle after ya keep it runnin for a min or so.. i'm going to be swappin maf,s checkin vacuum lines, etc today at so me point.. i'll post back if i find the gremlin.. might be the same problem..
  12. i'd go for a set of aluminum covers, fronts, and backs, seals are a must to keep junk outa there, quick release would be awsome too.. the idea about the middle piece would also work for me.. i spring for a couple ea-82 sets.. i'm bettin scrapdaddytatum would go for a few himself, he's always checkin on covers that are good, this would solve his woes too..
  13. i had this sorta prob after i swapped teh engine in my ahtch.. clean, and tighten the ground that goes from the front of the engine to the body over by the battery.. thats what my prob was.. if that doesn't help.. your alt just might be gettin weak..
  14. heh now i know where ya live.. should be easy to get to.. I'm bettin it'll just be the wife, kid and I that come.. but 10:00 sounds fine to me.. kid wakes us up at 5:30 every morning anyways will bring my digicam to get some pics.. took the hatch out today, is runnin ok.. funky vibration is there sometimes, and sometimes not.. if i keep the speedo on 60 (which is almost 70 i think) its nice and smooth.. gravel pit, mud, dirt, its all the same..
  15. ccr can get, build, customize, just about any soob motor ya want shortblocks, longblocks, etc..
  16. mines all stock as far as i can tell.. running the normal 8psi of boost.. and i still outran him with a slippin clutch..
  17. just be glad its not the same problem i have.. you push my ac button to max and the fan comes on high, nomatter what its set at.. i'm gonna have fun figurein that one out.. your prob does sound like a vacuum issue, might check under the dash and make sure that vacuum line is hooked up under there..
  18. hehe, yeah it definitely woulda siezed before it got to that temp..
  19. and if ya want a pocket rocket, my rx sedan outran a 2.2 impreza so now i know about the cams, thats why mine feels "gutless" after 5k rpm's.. time for a new motor, need more power
  20. sheesh, you guys and your low mileage turbos goin bad.. at any rate, if it was just overheated, i'm bettin its got blown head gaskets and/or cracked heads.. CCR would be the best place to get an engine.. for $300 i don't think ya can go wrong unless its an automatic and beat up.. i have 290k original on my turbo wagon, and she acctually runs like new, just partin her out due to rust.. if you take care of your roo it'll last a lifetime
  21. maybe i can snag Scrapdaddytatum (Jules), i know he's wanted to see your brat in person
  22. cool... keep me posted.. could prolly meet at your place first then convoy over? or ?
  23. i'm off thursday, friday, sat, and sunday.. saturday i might be goin to skips place to drop off his RX.. if not then i'll prolly be down at Mark's (lostwaters) so friday and sunday are open.. wheres the gravel pit? :eh:
