  1. thats whacked.. why the hell steal an svx?? at any rate, pull the battery, plug wires, maybe leave a rotwieler in there at nights.. i'd invest a couple hundred in a pc camera to record whats goin on in the driveway at night.. its not that hard to setup, leave a note on the window that says "your on hidden camera" that'd be enough of a deterent itself, lol.. its not likely they'd break into your house to get the camera.. i remember when i lived in greece, my dad had his toyota stolen.. all they found was the topper and the spare tire.. the bad thing was you had to pump it once to get it to start.. they didn't so it cranked for about 5 minutes.. he heard it cranking, but it didn't register what it was until it was too late.. he got outside just as they pulled away.. guard those svx's..
  2. awsome, well if it fits on your sedan it'll fit on my sedan.. the hunt begins
  3. hey find me a deal like that, my wife needs a wagon... i have a turbo wagon for parts, so as long as body is in good shape (like your steal) i'd be happy.. good score!!
  4. how much is a poopload? just kidding.. very nice writeup... since it looks liek i'll be keeping the hatch, when the 2 stock alternators, and 2 xt6 alternators i have burnup, i'll have to do this conversion.. heh.. by then i should have some wicked lights on the top..
  5. GFT-5 good fast turbo-5speed ? GL Great Luxury ? GL-5 Great Luxury 5-speed? GL-10 Great Luxury with 10 options? heh i dunno as you can tell..
  6. i vote for a hooded sweatshirt.. love the one i got, and the wife wants one.. so i'd be in for a couple of those...
  7. did it fit perfectly? i mean in length... i figured the 3door was a tad shorter than the 4door.. i kinda want to get a kit for my RX sedan if it will fit...
  8. i bought one for the RX at advance, the lady said we have one for $3.99 without the jiggle pin, and we have one for $7.99 and it has a jiggle pin.. so i paid the extra $4 for a jiggle pin, luckily it works like its supposed to. so to answer your question yes they made them without a jiggle pin..
  9. did ya get that black xt turbo off ebay? if so, it'd be a shame to see that one stripped out and parted for an offroader.. you do know they only made that car for 1/2 a year.... its super rare... and in too nice of shape to see it go... as far as puttin an ER27 (6cyl) in it, you would basically need an entire xt6 for parts, as you'd need the complete wiring harness, ecu, engine, and on down the list.. personally i think you'd be better off finding an xt6 to do your build.. xt6's also had 5-lug hubs, came in fulltime 4wd, and were the same body style.. they also had 145hp and torque compared to the 110 of the ea82T.. Turbos also are not as good for 4x4in cause you gotta keep it spooled up to be of any use, which is hard if your say rock crawling.. if she really wants a sprotscar offroader, the xt6 would be the way to go.. if ya got that black xt off ebay, let me know if you decide to get rid of it for something else.. i have a lifted 84' hatch to trade
  10. my hatch sounded like you describe when i bought it.. was the passenger side front wheel bearing.. it was toasted from scubadiving and never getting any attention.. instead of just changin the bearing, i went to the scrap yard and got a hoel hub.. one that had a nice bearing in it.. (carefully inspected before taking it) was much easier to change out...
  11. my guess is its a hitachi... when i hit the parts store for a cap for my hatch he asked me that, i had no clue... he said the nippondenso one had been on his shelf for so long it had dust on it, he was right, when he pulled it out it had about 1/2" of dust on it.. so i took the hitachi and was right. the 83' engine i got outa a 4wd wagon had the nipposdenso disty, the engine in my hatch had the hitachi.. .. one difference i noticed between caps, is that the nipposdenso cap was numbered for the firing order, the hitachi wasn't..
  12. i don't see why that wouldn't work if indeed it uses an electronic signal to engage it..
  13. my dad used that in his 68' thunderbird once.. made it not clatter or burn any oil for about 300 miles, then he let it sit, and it was back to the old problems.. it was really worn out tho hehe.. i'd say use some MMO at every oil change..
  14. if its not cracked and you applied sealant around the glass/plastic edge then i'd say check the rubber gasket on the headlight itself where it screws into the assembly.. if thats worn or gone, it will draw moisture.. you can use a blow dryer to get the moisture out of the headlight assembly if ya take it off as well..
  15. ahh so you were the one who sniped that xt from me off ebay at any rate, ya get fast, or you get big.. in most cases not both.. unless you went with an XT6 that had the flat 6 cylinder engine, much more power for big tires.. me thinks your trying to start an offroader with the wrong platform..
  16. ok i see your point, lol that would hurt.. but they do that regardless if ya have a different air cleaner or the stock one right?
  17. turbo wearin itself out huh? how ya figure? both my rx and the wagon did the same thing.. i'm pretty sure its just turbo feedback.. you can just hear it now since theres no airbox to muffle it..
  18. so what'd ya do, drill a hole, weld a pipe in there and mount it? mine sounds just like its got a BoV with just an hks air filter.. got rid of that crappy air box, and noticed a huge difference in power.. i figured since the rx is running straight pipe with a cat, i should free up the intake end of things.. boy did that help.. Pleadies, you got a 2wd wagon? can tell by the intake unless ya changed it..
  19. well look at it this way, that'll be a good starting point for a hoodscoop
  20. Subarubrats got that h6 in there, looks sweet!! although i think its a bit much for the ea-81 trannies.. since he did manage to implode reverse when he got stuck a couple weekends ago... but thats what spare trannies are for isn't it?
  21. 290,000 original miles on my 86' turbo wagon glad to see your soob givin ya the miles it should..
  22. hell if your gonna use that, ight as well splurge the .10 and get a zip tie..
  23. well my turbo wagon used to do the same thing.. you'd pull up at a light and it would look like its steaming from the radiator.. from what i could tell is that the least bit of moisture in teh air would steam from the hot radiator.. never seemed to affect anything.. never leaked or used coolant etc..
  24. ok, i knew it hadn't been long since it was replaced, by readin your emails Dennis.. i swapped out the thermostat this morning, the old one looked like it was growing moss:cornfuzz: but anyways, put a 180 in there and she runs below the half mark now.. and i don't need the electric fan runnin all the time.. i'm gonna put it on a toggle switch so i can use it on-demand..
  25. yeah radiator always feels cold.. i was thinkin about it, by revving the engine it would force more flow through a stuck thermostat would it not? btw engine was resealed, timing belts, water pump, oil pump, the hole shebang done about 13k ago.. last year...
