  1. Scrapdaddytatums 89' gl-10 turbo 4wd auto wagon didn't have an lsd.. just a plain old open 3.7 diff... maybe the lsd was on the 5-speed models.. but deffinitely not standard.. just thought i'd throw that in, not to be rude or anything.. just stating what i've seen for my own eyes.. as far as chassis goes.. i'd say go with the latter year 87-89.. NOT a loyale.. gl or gl-10 deffinitely..
  2. on top of the cold ac, almost no rust, smooth quiet running.. the little bastard gets 28mpg runnin around town.. with a hitachi!! i'm sure it'd get over 30 if it was all highway drivin.. just thought i'd share.. this little car has been great so far.. driven it all over the place.. its not big on power, or fast for that matter, but what can ya expect from a car that has 69HP.. if i get my wife a wagon, i'll just run it back and forth to work since the mileage is awsome.. and save the RX for my toy, hehe.. after cleaning the blower motor and air conditioning core out (mice fuz/stuffing/terds).. the heater and ac work like new as well..
  3. the hatch we just saved from the scrap yard is an 89' gl D/R 4x4 EA81 definitely gotta order parts for an 84' tho to get the right stuff, hehe.. 89' GL D/R 4x4 EA81 Hatch
  4. hks filter made a littel difference.. alot of rumble.. scares the hondas away.. especially because they can hear that it does have a turbo... if ya don't get this fixed, you can stop by my place or i can drop by sometime.. since your only 20 min away, lol..
  5. CC would be nice.. but can't ask for it all... foglights on this puppy were factory... all wiring and the factory orange push button to turn them on leads me to that conclusion... too bad they were bashed into somethin so hard they got crushed, then rusted out so badly there was nothing left but half a shell.. i wanna find another pair to put back on there.. they look nice, and that factory button is going to waste.. i know i could get aftermarket but where the nostalgia in that? hehe...
  6. well if anyone wants a yard car before i get it, theres an 88 spfi wagon at a yard here, perfect, no rust, not even a spot.. engine is clean enough to eat off of and runs like it looks.. interior is just dirty, not ripped nothing.. its a 2wd auto and has a bad tranny... perfect candidate for a 5-speed conversion.. $350 bones is all they want.. deffinitely worth it imo... i may go snag it when taxes come back if noone else has.. on another note... i did all 4 brakes on the hatch today, air filter, put my h-alloys on it, and tinkered with a few other things.. it runs and drives like a new car now... best yard steal i ever came across..
  7. yeah, the rust is super minimal, deffinitely rescuable.. gonna cut it out when summer comes around, then fix it that double pully alt has me cornfused.. the outer part of it rubs on the ac belt.. i got a single pully alt so it'll go on there eventually.. like that little plastic cover eh? thats factory.. works great when ya go to the car wash and wash under the hood.. nothin gets wet... ohh yeah, its got cold ac too. lol after the tune up, now that its running on all 4, it purrs like a kitten.. drives like one too... will peg the speedo on the flats no prob.. good oil pressure, temp, and doesn't leak from what i can tell.. i don't think i'll be puttin the weber on it.. it runs too nice.. you can go out turn the key after its sat all night, and she fires right up, and idles smooth.. no pumping required, lol... and its already been prewired for an amp under the drivers seat, hehe.. clutch is awsome as well... the bad things.. brakes are almost non existent.. gotta pull wheels today and check/replace/bleed them.. the rear lift shocks are shot.. wiper arms are off a dodge or something.. deffinitely not soobie..(tried to replace the wipers, haha, that didn't work) the heater has somethin in it preventing air flow, and makin lots of ruckus.. prolly a mouse got in it and made a home.. wagon wheels are a bit rusty (they'll get fixed too tho) missin a couple plastic pieces inside..and the shifter linkage is real sloppy.. most of this i'm going to take care of today, and go run it through inspection..
  8. add me to that list.. check wil go in the mail today... and if there ends up being change, donate it to the board.. sounds likea good cause to me..
  9. that sounds like a BFD you hit... in my opinion, it sounds like the headlights got whacked a little.. the adjustments are only a screw that threads into a plastic nut.. it doesn't take much to push that screw through the plastic threads... i wouldn't think ya bent anything.. i would tend to think it just knocked them outa alignment by adjusting them the hard way.. really i would say just adjust the screws.. turn the bottom ones out to loosen the hole thing a little, then tighten the top ones to suck them up.. pretty easy to do.. if ya are in my neck of the woods anytime, i can take a looksy.. i'm off work until the 5th (love paid vacation) and ya know where i live..
  10. still uploading, dial-up uploads are pitifully slow, lol give it 20 min or so...
  11. pics added.. the rust pics are the only rust on the entire car.. http://usmb.net/gallery/Silver-89-GL-Hatch-4x4
  12. its a gutless pig.. but i'm sure thats due to the carb flooding it any chance it gets.. the car ran on 3 cylinders as well.. other than that it was smooth ridin, drove straight, etc.. i get to clean the living piss outa it today, and give it a tune-up.. i'll also get to swap the weber at some point.. going to paint the rusty chipped white wagon wheels flat black.. ohh and gotta put a stereo in it too, lol... its an 89' gl hatch.. looks like it had every option they offered back then.. AC, factory fog lights (broken ) pretty clean really, seats are not ripped, just a little dirty.. body is perfect, no dents, and barely any rust at all.. lights all worked too... is a small crack in the windshield about 6" long, but goes from the bottom drivers side to the bottom of the windshield... on the title it says the owner was "original", the car was donated to the heart and lung association, then given to the junk yard, where Scrapdaddytatum got lines on it for me.. it also says its a 4dr stationwagon, lol.. so i get to verify the vin, and get that corrected when i go to register it.. so a big thanks to Scrapdaddytatum (Jules) for hookin me up with the car.. now i get to go cleaning, lol... not bad for drivin it away from a junkyard, hehe
  13. my 86' gl-10 didn't have any probs, even with 290k original on her... the only quirk i ever saw with my digidash is the ebrake light would flicker sometimes... other than that it was solid... my wagons gettin parted out and going to the scrapper here very shortly.. you need a digidash? i have one
  14. 86' turbo 5-speed gl=10 wagon 290k all original think i take the cake for a gen3 turbo wagon hehe
  15. i got a blown radiator hose on the hatch... and 1qt of spilled gear oil in the back..
  16. should be easier than the brat cause theres no axle to play with...
  17. hmm shift up light huh, never saw one of those on my 86' turbo wagon.. and yes i took it to redline, it beeps for about 6 seconds as it passes redline then the fuel cut comes in... yeah lots of electrical tape, splices, etc for that swap lol
  18. my lifted hatch has general grabbers on it.. they were pretty good in the mud when scott buried his brat, and pretty decent in the snow as well.. dry pavement they are good too.. dirt roads, well i haven't been able to get the hatch to slide, put it that way.. all around a pretty decent tire for all purpose use..
  19. this test may show amsoil in the lead, but imo i don't much care for amsoil.. my acura had amsoil in it its entire life, and when i had to do a headgasket i inspected the cams and runners .. cams and runners were both scored and grooved more than i've seen with any other oil.. i just wasn't impressed with payin that much for the oil and having a torn up engine.. on the other hand my turbo wagon has had castrol dino oil run in it its entire life and its still kickin with 290k original... going to tear it down at some point and see how well it fared.. my guess is alot better than the acura with amsoil...
  20. well, this car i'm pickin up has an auto tranny.. the guy says the tranny is bad.. he did say that when its cold you can feel it trying to pull, but it won't really move.. what could be wrong with it? the car is an 88' 2wd gl wagon spfi its not of big concern because its getting a 5-speed swap but was just curious about the auto tranny if it was fixable fairly easy or not..
  21. yeah thats the main difference between the 3 gens of heads, the 3rd having the most material between the valves.. which still cracks anyways.. just a bad design imo.. i got a turbo engine in my wagon thats got 290k original.. it still runs fine, but was usin a little water last time i drove it on a trip.. i'd like to see how well its done on the inside tho.. i'll post about it when we get it apart, hehe.. might be awhile tho..
  22. well i'm not too worried about changin that head gasket, cause i'm certain i'll have to replace a head at the same time.. i'm going to have an engine built for me come febuary by a local guy looks like i'm going to be doing some tranny swapping in the next couple weeks anyways.. thanks for the offer tho mdjdc
  23. heh ok, here it is.. 86' 2wd GL-10 turbo 5-speed wagon (parts car) 88' 2wd DL 5-speed (parts car) 88' 2wd GL auto (soon to be converted) am going to strip both of my parts cars and have them gone in a couple weeks.. the 5-speed trans and pedal box is going from the DL to the GL. The turbo wagon is gettin the snot stripped out of it then off to the scrapper it goes.. that explain it a little better Trogdor? hehe
  24. woohoo, a good tip drivers seat in the DL is gone already.. so half of that small task is done hehe.. any more tips?
